It should still cost less than the Wii otherwise it would be ludicrous to price a handheld more than a home entertainment console.

NA: March 27th 2011, priced at $250.
EU: March 25th 2011, price unknown (Nintendo Europe says it's "set by retailers". What the hell, Nintendo? D: )
UPDATE: UK prices seem to be around the £220-£230 range. Play.com has it at £220, and HMV at £230. Nothing from Amazon UK so far.
Black and Blue will be the available colours.
Details about launch games are sketchy, Reggie Fils-Amie says they hope to have "around 30 3DS games at retail" between the launch date and this year's E3. Nintendo Europe had NO details.
UPDATE: Confirmed North American launch games so far:
Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition
Nintendogs + Cats
Dynasty Warriors 3D
I'm not happy with the lack of info from Nintendo Europe, but at least the 3DS is coming out in time for my birthday!
Oh yeah, Friend Codes make a return, BUT you only need one per system. You can also register friends over local wireless without needing to input their codes.

Is it going to be backwards compatible with the DS?
Hoping DS lite/DSi prices will drop so I can get one XD

Yep, it is.

If you're going for a DSL/DSi, I recommend the DS Lite. You can play GBA games on it (you can find some great ones for cheap), plus the DSi features aren't actually worth the extra. *looks at his DSi collecting dust*

I'm sure a lot of DS Lites and DSis will be going on places like Ebay in the run-up to the 3DS launch! I know mine will be. XD;
Here's some 3DS screens and videos from Kotaku.
What 3DS games are you guys interested in?
For me, it's:
Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition
Dead or Alive Dimensions
Paper Mario
Mario Kart
Pilotwings Resort

More details on the 3DS's Friend Code system. They sound like very welcome changes.

Gamers who try to play online with others using the DS or the Nintendo Wii currently have to exchange a set of 16-digit numbers to connect. Sometimes they have to do so twice, depending on the game they play. And often the game doesn't remember those codes, turning an online session of gaming into something more akin to math than fun.
But the 3DS fixes some of that when it hits Japan in February and the U.S and Europe in March. The new Friend Code system will now be tied directly to the 3DS you own and there will only be one for each system, so no more secondary Friend Codes for games.
The system, Nintendo tells us, will also be able to remember the codes you put in for your Friends and track whether they are currently online or not. If they're online, one of the lights in the top right corner of the portable will glow orange to alert you.
The 3DS will have an app that tracks and can give you the current status of your friends at any given time.
And finding and becoming friends sounds like it will sometimes be easier as well. While we don't yet know if they Friend Code will be a 16-digit number, or even a number at all, we do know that you will have to exchange them just once with your friend to offer and accept a friendship on the 3DS.
But if you're connected with another friend via local wireless, you won't even have to do that. Instead you can push a button to accept or send friend requests and the 3DS will take down the number automatically and remember it.
While this new system still isn't as effortless as being able to create easy-to-remember user names and connect them with a message from anywhere, a system that both the PS3 and Xbox 360 use, it's much better than the intricacies and extra numbers of the current Wii and DS Friend Code system.
The 3DS also has multitasking, allowing you to pause your current game and skip to another application. An example was being able to pause a RPG and open a notepad to take notes. You probably could even skip to a web browser to look up game guides to get through a bit you're stuck on.

Mine too. XD It's the 27th of March for me. You?
That's a good point. The 3DS looks great, but is expensive for a handheld. It's not just an Xbox, you CAN buy a PS3 Slim for the 3DS's selling price of £230!
I'll still want to get one, but only if I can get it from my workplace (10% staff discount) and I have the spare cash. If I'm short on it, I can wait. After all, there are more important things like food, rent and bills!
