QUOTE
Sai's intervention from the tent scene up to now is breaking down false perceptions that Naruto and Sakura have had and rebuilding them.

Sai is quite helpful, isn't he? wink.gif

QUOTE
Sakura now knows for a fact that Naruto has more than a goofy "let's go on a date" crush, he has, in fact, made tremdous physical and emotional sacrifices for for her

Agreed. I've got a feeling Sakura was unaware of Naruto's love from the start; At most, she might have seen it as a friendship. But now that she knows the extent of his feelings, she is paying alot more attention to them.

QUOTE
Naruto now knows that Sakura cares for him enough to purposefully try and lessen herself in his eyes and try to make him stop loving her to remove his burden of retrieving Sauske for her and lessen the blow when he learns that Sauske has been killed

This is a part people claim to be against our development. I'm guessing they want Naruto to end up hating Sakura. Because she's protecting him.

Before, I may have been worried about Naruto actually resenting Sakura for killing someone he thought they both loved, but after Gaara's speech, Naruto sees how hard it probably is for her. I just hope he makes the connection, that, yes, Sakura is killing Sasuke partly for him.

Also, I'm thinking... What if Sakura knew Naruto was going to hate her, so she told him about her feelings first? Through that whole confession, she was aware that Naruto would hate her. I wonder about that.

QUOTE
Sakura is now taking decisive action to do what she feels in right

She's having huge developments. I'm proud of her. If I do say so myself... This is one of, if not THE biggest development for Sakura.

QUOTE
Sakura is heading toward a confrontation with Sauske, and I can't wait to see the look on his face when he realizes this is not the same dependent, relatively weak girl he left in Konoha.

She's got the element of surprise. If she can find him.

QUOTE
Naruto may still not believe that he can become Hokage if he can't save his best friend

He needed to get out of that mindset. I think it was holding him back, just like the PoaL. Though, Naruto being the kind of person he is, may need to see Sasuke's evilness for himself before making any life changing (or ending) decisions about Sasuke. This is why I'm led to believe that Sasuke may hurt Sakura, so Naruto can realize.

QUOTE
After his fight with Pain, Naruto's mission has become to fight hatred in the Ninja world, his most profound (and meaningful to the reader) act of accomplishing this may be redeeming Sauske, but now Naruto is realizing that things cannot go back to the way that they were (I think that is what is meant by the shattering image of Team 7)

Their way of thinking convinces them that the killing Sasuke betrays a major theme, Peace. But, even after Gaara's speech, and if you look closely a major part of Part II, making difficult decisions is also a major theme. It's been said by many, including Itachi.

QUOTE
The outcomes that I am hoping for are...

1. Sakura confronts Sauske and her feelings openly and makes the final romantic push toward Naruto (although this will not be made clear to Naruto right away)

I like this one, but I don't think it'll happen. Sakura is prepared for Naruto's resentment. For some reason, I don't think she'll be able to face him again, much less pursue him.

But that's just me.

QUOTE
2. Naruto does not give up, period. Right now everyone is making the case that nothing he can do will change the outcome for Sauske, while I don't believe he will save Sauske's life, in the end he will save him from the hatred in his heart

I used to think so too... But it's been said again and again by... Well, alot of people, that there IS no good left in Sasuke.

QUOTE
3. The ultimate redemption of Sauske will take Naruto and Sakura working together as one(with a little help from Itachi)

Yes. If Sasuke is redeemed, I see it happening as a Team 7 thing.

Naruto will definitely bring up his talk with Itachi when he meets Sasuke. This is what Itachi warned him about, I'm sure he's going to remember it now. & then he'll tell Sasuke that this is NOT what Itachi wanted. Naruto won't kill him, but the next best thing I can see is slamming FRS into Sasuke head-on (as in point blank). It definitely won't kill him but it will give him eternal hell on earth. That way it's two birds with one stone. Save Sasuke, Save the world.

May I raise up a point I have seen very little of.

1 word:

CONFESSION

Who knows what this word means? Shall we look at the definition? We will have to look at the word it is derived from and that is "Confess"

conĀ·fess (kn-fs)
V. con-fessed, con-fess-ing, con-fess-es,
N. con-fess-ion
v.tr.
1. To disclose (something damaging or inconvenient to oneself); admit. See Synonyms at acknowledge.
2. To acknowledge belief or faith in; profess/.
3.
a. To make known (one's sins) to God or to a priest.
b. To hear the confession of (a penitent).
v.intr.
1. To admit or acknowledge something damaging or inconvenient to oneself: The suspect confessed to the crime.
2.
a. To disclose one's sins to a priest.
b. To listen to a confession.

Now, Chapters 469 to 474 have one theme to all of these. They all revolve around Sakura's Confession. There is that word again. Now what does it mean that when Sakura confesses something? Let's go down the list.

QUOTE
1. To disclose (something damaging or inconvenient to oneself); admit. See Synonyms at acknowledge.

Did Sakura confess something that was hurtful to herself? I don't see how confessing ones love is hurtful, but maybe finally confessing to herself that Sasuke was never coming back is and was hurtful as well as confessing to herself that the PoaL she made with Naruto was hurting him like Sai said, which in turn was hurting her. So we have that criteria fulfilled. However, the next definition is "To admit." Admit to what? Well she said she loves Naruto and gave up on Sasuke. So, she admits she finally understand everything. She admits she loves Naruto, she admits Sasuke has gone to the dark side and needs to die for the good of humanity. Again fits the criteria.

next defintion:
QUOTE
2. To acknowledge belief or faith in; profess/.

Acknowledge. Big word here. Sakura acknowledges her love for Naruto? Again fits the criteria.

Next definition:
QUOTE
v.intr.
1. To admit or acknowledge something damaging or inconvenient to oneself: The suspect confessed to the crime.

The context of this definition is not the same as the first as the context of this one is used to show a criminal confessing to a crime through guilt. Did Sakura commit any crime? Not to my knowledge and even if she did, why would she confess this to Naruto? This does not fit the criteria and thus this definition is null-in-void.

Next:
QUOTE
2.
a. To disclose one's sins to a priest.
b. To listen to a confession.

Since religion plays a very little role in Naruto, this definition is automatically knocked off the list or possibility.

I have to ask, to anyone, in the word or definition of the word "Confess," do you see the word "lie" in there? How about "misleading?" "Untruthful?" "False?" Let's go one further..."fabrication?"

I don't. Re-reading chapter 474 again I noticed something. Sai says, and I quote, "She thought she lessen the burden by giving up on Sasuke and confessing to you her love for you." Now Sai is pretty smart and I would trust he does know Sakura and Naruto enough by now. If Sakura was lying, why didn't Sai say instead "She thought she lessen the burden by giving up on Sasuke and lying about her love for you.?"

I come to understand that her confession in chapter 469 was completely truthful. She might have worded it wrong, but it was truthful. Why? Because you cannot lie on a "confession." Otherwise it would not be called a "confession." It would be called an "act." Giving a confession, by the definition and context of the word, means that you have to tell the truth whether through guilt or through better means due to the person admitting to something.

A confession is not a lie, in fact a confession is a truth.

Also, let's note that Hinata's confession was also labeled a "confession", but everyone knows this is true. Why? Because she confessed, perhaps? We know it's truth, because Kishimoto even LABELED the chapter "Confession."

So I ask, if it was a lie, why label it a confession when by definition and the use of a word a confession is truth?

One final note here: Omitting information is not lying. Lying is going against the truth. Omitting means to "leave out."

The difference is not whether to kill Sasuke, but why Naruto would kill Sasuke. Even in the fight with Pain, Naruto tried to talk things out with Pain's Deva body. When Deva refused, that didn't stop Naruto from responding with a rasengan in the gut.

Someone like Danzo will attack if he thinks there is a threat, if there is political advantage (ANBU hiding during Pain's attack), and I suspect for emotional reasons (anger, hatred). Compare that to Naruto. Even when furious at Pain, he wouldn't fight once the (actual and immediate) threat was gone.

Lemme shift gears back to Danzo... Why is Madara confronting him? I'm going to make the prediction that their fight will end after about a page or two (maybe even before Danzo's arm is used), as I think Madara is going to make an offer (that Danzo can't refuse). With Danzo's political power going down the garbage chute, this is a golden opportunity for Madara to pick up an ally. (Even though they hate each other, that won't stop them both from being arrogant enough to think that each will get advantage over the other.)

Also expressing she believes in, has faith in Naruto. She's said and done that several times in part 2 already, that was why she was "letting him carry the burden" he assured her (and many others that he could) and she believed and had faith in him. In fact, she is one of the first persons, have enough faith in Naruto's dream of becoming Hokage that she begins to act without one thought of the negative consequences to herself to insure Naruto's dream of becoming Hokage can have the possibility of coming true. Not for a second does she even think about how angry Sasuke would be at her for knocking them out of the Chunnin exams and having to wait for the next one, her only thoughts are of Naruto (and where did we just see this again?) his dream, his welfare. And look what halts her, Naruto himself, his bravado, Sakura believes in him, has faith in him to win somehow.

Well, just be patient Froot, lol. I know, it's hard, I'm getting antsy too, but knowing how last chapter ended, I suspect that we shouldn't get out hopes too high for this one, as Kishi loves to take breaks for a week or two when it comes to these things.

I made the mistake of checking out the Naruto Forum where the anti-Sakura sentiment is running thick. My headache is finally going away. arg.gif

Anyways... Some of the posters are latching on pretty hard to the idea that Sakura loves Sasuke ("Sai said so, it must be cannon!"). That somehow her feelings for how Sasuke used to be, somehow invalidates how she feels about Naruto now. But think about the confession. Going to kill Sasuke (to save him from darkness) was her last option. Her first option was: "I've come here because I want you (Naruto) to come back to the village with me!" Her first choice would have meant not dealing with Sasuke at all, and letting someone else take care of that problem.

The only motivation that fits both of her choices was to keep Naruto safe. And it seems obvious why she made her first offer, even though she suspected Naruto would continue after Sasuke. (Even if it was low probability, the first option means she could be with Naruto. The last option would likely lead to Naruto hating her.) It's pretty clear who is a bigger priority in Sakura's heart.
