What makes the threat even more laughable is the fact that they never actually stop. All too often someone throws out the threat of dropping something but almost never do. It's hollow, no matter what the series.
That it's such a commonly used threat - threat to whom I'll never figure out, considering the people involved would never see it - in things American and Japanese is rather sad.

Heck. I was under the impression that the majority of his fans were 13 year old boys who could not give a hoot about who is kissing who.
Well, it's a shounen manga, so yeah, I doubt that impression is all that far from the truth. Really, the strengthening relationship between Naruto and Sakura has been a subplot Kishi's been building. Aside from that one, romantic interactions don't often factor in for this exact reason. The caveat is that NaruSaku is also not a MAJOR focus, as the series main plotlines don't really involve it too much.
So NaruSaku is a subplot, really, that isn't something the manga makes a huge deal out of thanks to it's status as shounen. But you know, that's alright with me. Sometimes the subplots can be as well done and important as anything given the bulk of the focus in almost any story.

Honestly, I really don't mind if people like NaruHina, SasuSaku, NaruSasu, LeeSaku, or whatever their pairing is. I just wish they would stop trying to twist or deny what is there in black and white on the manga pages. Kishimoto planned this all along, right from Chapter 3. Please, deal with it. It's not going to stop you from enjoying fanfics/fanarts of your pairings, is it?
Quoted for mother****ing truth.
This has been my stance on many pairings wars. You, sir, are my hero for the day. It's simply nice to see someone else who takes such an excellent approach and viewpoint on the entire thing.
