Okay, so Malkin has an automatic suspension waived, and Crosby is allowed to slash Maltby after the game is over with no mention by NHL officials whatsoever.

Geez. I gotta hope that the Red Wings can pull this off, just so I can continue to hold at least some respect for the sport....

You haven't experienced the full cofusion of modern gender relations until you've heard an angry group of women yelling, "We want tentacles!" at an all-night Hentai-fest.

Yeah... the Malkin non-suspension is stupid and just shows (again) that Campbell is an idiot (his explanation for the non-suspension is idiotic as well).

One more thing... the refereeing in both games sucked. I understand they want to let the two teams play... but they're basically letting everything that isn't extremely obvious (and even some of those) go.
Pretty bored.

Okay.

Pretty much half a minute of 6 Penguin players on the ice... and neither referee sees it?

Happy birthday Bettman.

Pretty bored.

I used to think that even though the NHL favored the Penguins marketing-wise, they'd never actually pick sides on the ice with refereeing, etc. But now...I'm not so sure. Hopefully its just REALLY crappy officiating though. The refs are terrible either way.

I think everyone can agree that the refereeing these playoffs have absolutely SUCKED. Not just these finals (which has had the worst)... but a lot of the series have had their share of pretty bad officiating.

I have no doubt that no one on either bench knows wtf the refs are going to call that night.

First 2 games they let everything go. Next 2 they get a little bit better, but are still pretty damn loose (especially compared to the regular season). And then all of sudden there's like 5 straight penalties against Pittsburgh in the 2nd? Although the last 2 can be seen as Penguin frustration penalties.

Terrible...

Anyways... as for the series themselves...

Game 3 was dominated by Penguins (from what I remember)... Game 4 was filled with Red Wings mistakes...

Game 5 saw the invisible special teams of the Red Wings (specifically the PP) come back.

Hossa has still not made much of an impact against his former team. Although he does have a couple shifts every game where he can control the puck for a extended period of time in the offensive zone.

With Datsyuk back for the Red Wings and a 3 day break between games... they may be able to repeat what they did last year and win the Cup in front of Penguins' fans. Otherwise they come back to the Hockey Town where they are 11-1 I think.

Makes me kind of sad though... hockey is almost over... will have to start the countdown until next season soon.

Finally, I love watching these Red Wings win at home because I love it when they always start playing Journey at the end of the game and the crowd screams out "South Detroit". Haha... almost/just as good as the Philadelphia Flyers God Bless America.
Pretty bored.

Bettman wants a game 7... so let it be so.

Seriously though, another game of bad officiating that I almost stopped watching.

On a separate note... that Bud Light Lime commercial... at first it annoyed me since it was on every TV timeout (most of the time it would show 2-3 times during a single break)... but now it's starting to make me want to try some... so I guess it works... haha...

That Western Financial Group commercial though... I still hate that one.

Every TV timeout... without fail... these two commercials will show up at least once... sometimes twice... most of the times three times.
Pretty bored.

Well hopefully the Wings can close it out in their own stadium this time. And once more, the officiating is less than mediocre. Staal pushes Zetterberg into Marc-Andre Fleury and Zetterberg is called for Goalie Interference? Makes perfect sense.

Congrads to the Pens. Not a fan of Pittsburgh, but they played a strong series.

I've been trying to come up with a reply for this thread. But I get sick to my stomach even thinking about this. Not to mention my head has been hurting all morning.

So forget it. I'm not even going to acknowledge it.

In other news... man... I really hope Heatley comes to Edmonton. Oilers have the assets (I think) to get him... just have to wonder if they're willing to part with them. Really need a top 3 forward in this city !
Pretty bored.

Free Agency! biggrin.gif

I'm REALLY happy with the Avalanche's move to acquire Craig Anderson. Even though it's a bit risky considering he has never been a number one, his stats in Florida are more than impressive and he's a pretty solid goalie. I think its a definite upgrade from last year. I think it was alright to keep Budaj around; he's a good backup, but not a good starter.

We also signed David Koci...which I guess is okay. We do need a bruiser now that Guite and Lappy are gone. Couldn't they have jused used some of this 575k to offer Lappy a little bigger of a contract though? I'm pissed that we let him go, he gave it his all this season despite our crap-fest.

So far I'm content with the moves we made...but I won't be if this is ALL we make. I would really love to get another forward or Defenseman. Considering that we had $11.255 million of cap space and we only took up $2.375 million with these two signings, and we have $5 million at the most reserved for Joe Sakic...we should have enough to get one or two more decent players.

Also, I am extremely happy with the Avalanche drafting of Matt Duchene. He's an elite center, I hope he can crack the lineup this year.

Double post? Where?

Anyway, had a few videos I found that I thought I'd share.

Two of the best players to ever play for the Avalanche.

I'm really bummed about Sakic's retirement. He had an outstanding career and I'm sad to see him go, but he deserves the break and it was his time to hang em up. I hope he comes back to the Avs in some capacity one day.

It's a real shame that Forsberg had those foot injuries that limited his play. He was amazing. I get goosebumps as I watch that video...he can take on five people and still score. Absolutely incredible.

Ok, we need at least 4 people, but 6 would be awesome. The league max is 10, for the one I made. We'll see how many people join, we got three so far.

League name:
The H&E Fantasy Hockey League

Should be fun! Its head to head, I put the Live Draft at 10:00 PM on Sep 26 for now, we can figure it out later.
