Why DO we like Narusaku?

I guess the reason its liked is cause its like less predictable... i mean would it even be watchable with blatant NaruHina.
However that brings up another point... would it be watchable with blatant Narusaku? I guess that would be boring ...yeah

Short answer: Because.

Posted 23 July 2007 - 05:09 AM
1. Because they really have been a pair truly since the very beginning. Take , for example, the time where Kakashi was unconscious and Naruto and Sakura were trying to take his mask off. Both of them yelled and fell back and Sakura started yelling at Naruto for ruining their plot. Sasuke watched from the sidelines. Or when Sakura secretly loved Naruto's prank (they didn't include this in the anime, I believe). Or when Naruto pretended to fall off the tree just to impress Sakura and Kakashi. Or Sakura's expression when he recovered his hitai-ate from Zabuza. Or when Naruto was dreaming about protecting Sakura. Or when Sakura stood up to Sasuke for Naruto's sake. Or when Naruto fought tooth-and-nail for Sakura against Gaara. Or when Sakura was willing to give up the Chuunin Exams for Naruto's "crazy dream because she doesn't want it taken from him forever." And still there's more.
2. Because they interact more than the other pairings. I remember, counting all the times Sakura blushed at Naruto in vol. 2 with my best friend (who I force Naruto and Bleach upon XD). Even in vol. 2, NaruSaku was already becoming apparent.
3. Because they have gone on "dates." Discount them if you want to, but NaruHina and SasuSaku haven't had any!

4. Because they look good together. Okay, I know I'm being trivial here, but who cares? 8D
5. Because they need a happy ending. Not just Naruto, mind you! With all the crap they've gone through; for once, they need some happiness and peace.
6. Because they're alike. You know, "Birds of a feather flock together!"

Hinata doesn't get much spotlight in Naruto's heart anyways, lol.

Basically the idea of how inevitable it gets, we can already tell and know Naruto likes Sakura, and it's obvious she is starting to like him back (which im not sure exacly since i dont read manga too often but maybe) which yamato was going to say before interrupted.
The couple itself is hard to deny, when you think about how Naruto doesnt notice Hinata, as most people say it, he is a 1-woman guy. I have also heard someone say that almost every NaruHina moment is a filler, not entirely true but close enough.
Also the fact that it is true, Sakura does still like Sasuke, but nothing more then a crush, as it is said she would gladly attack him after what hes done, but she would also defend him if insulted.
muahaha! NaruHina and SasuSaku fans! fear my logic! muahahahaha but it is not impossible for those pairing to happen. just unlikely

There's not much of a reason why I like this pairing but mainly because how their relationship grew through each and every page of the manga. Plus, it's not like one of those fluffy couples that get together in an early page of the manga (mostly during some rain scene or a fight between two friends). Well anyways besides that, I love the chemistry that goes on between Naruto and Sakura because it's such a mixture of: humor, friendship, caring but not yet into the truly romantic league xD .

No matter how dark it is, you’re not alone you know?

I truly think Sakura started to become friends with him without even knowing it herself. The moments when it's just the two of them without Sasuke speak for how close they really are and how they interact as a pair and with a group makes just watching them talk interesting.
I think that's why I like NaruSaku so much. SasuSaku is angst based, and while I understand how some people like that kind of relationship in a narrative form it dosn't do it for me. NaruSaku is like a scale, at first it was all balanced in Naruto's direction, but as the chapters go on, little by little you can see weight being added to Sakura's side. Now after the time skip I can see the scales as almost equal. They both care deeply about each other and will do anything to protect one another and support one another.
Naruto protected Sakura from their enemy's and Sakura (in chapter 298) protected Naruto's feelings.
The best part about NaruSaku thought is that even IF they don't end up as a couple, you can tell a lasting friendship has been formed between the two that will last for quite a wile.
p.s. Yah, most of the NaruHina moments in the Anime are filler, in fact, Hinata dosn't appear in the MANGA till chapter 034, where as the Anime introduced her in Episode 1. In fact, Temari and Kankuro are introduced sooner than Hinata and the rest of the rookies are.
So yah, anything from episode one to the beginning on the Chuunin exam ark is all filler for NaruHina.

(I do like me some Naru/Ino though and if you write well enough you can sell me on almost any pairing for a while)
However, I'll be honest: the reason why I lean so much towards NaruSaku is this site.
I first got into Naruto via fanfiction: I was in Iraq so I'd kinda heard of Naruto.... An author of several Full Metal Panic (which I loved at the time) fics also wrote Naruto fics. Despite not really knowing anything about the series I caved and read his Naruto work... and was hooked. You have to realize he was a NaruHina fan, so I was as well when I first started out. After going through some good NaruHina fics (Fox Hunt, Two Halves) I tried to hunt more good fics to read, but FFN was already loaded with NaruSasu High School MpregRape fics so it made it hard. Tried some other forums like NarutoFan and stuff, but they didn't hold my interest.
To this day I still don't know what about this site exactly kept my attention - maybe it was the recommended fanfic thread, or how everyone was so friendly and pleasant (I lurked for months so it wasn't even me they were being nice to, it was each other.) Maybe it the excellent NaruSaku fics I'd read - the first ones I can remember reading were Geno Calamari's "Something or Other," Red Crow's "Second Chances," and Flashfyre5's "Genin." Regardless, H&E caught me and I haven't left since.
It's the site that made me join the pairing, not the pairing that made me join the site.

(For the younger readers, a "record store" was a building that you had to go to when you wanted to buy music.)
(For the younger readers, "buying music" was the way we acquired it, since we couldn't just… you know what, let's just get back to the Bowen song. Stupid kids, you ruin everything.)

Be the Ultimate Ninja! Or Reaper! Or Zombie Killer... or something. Play Billy Vs. SNAKEMAN!

This almost perfectly sums up how I feel. Still, there's something I'd like to add.
Sakura can act like herself around Naruto, where as around, say, Sasuke, she has to put up a false, front, to put on a mask, so to speak. I know from experience, if you don't trust some one, you're not willing to let them see all of you: the good the bad and the ugly. You have to hide what ever you think they wouldn't aprrove of, and therefore, they never really get to know YOU as a whole human being, one who has flaws and strengths. When you don't completely trust someone, you try realy hard to cover up any differences in opinio, because you don't know if they'll love you any way. Sakura has NEVER been like this with Naruto; she's always been really open with him. At first it was because she really didn't care what he thought, but it's my belief that as time progressed, part of her 9even if it was only her subconcious) came to realize that Naruto would always be there to suppot and love her, to give her a shoulder to cry on. She can trust him.
However, when you look and the NaruHina, SasuSaku pairings, all the proofs about "Don't trust" come into play. The couples could never be themselves around one another, especially Sasuke and Sakura. Well, actually, I can see Sasuke being his cruel b****y self, but Sakura, while in a relationship with him, could never be her own person; never have her own opinions with out Sasuke's approval. She would be giving up the right to her own identity, something she couldn't even really find until he left. Considering how much she's matured, the way she's grown into her skin, and the spirited kunoichi she's become, I don't think Sakura will EVER be content to go back to the life of hiding behind false pretenses, to letting someone else's thoughts rule her mind, just for an image, to looking in the mirror, and not really knowing the girl looking back at her. Every one has always identified "Inner Sakura" as a spit personality, kind of another person living inside of Sakura's head. It was always my belief, however, that it was merely a methaphor used to show the contrast between Sakura's actual thoughts and feelings and the ones she was displaying for the world. Whether this is the author's intent, or not, I don't know. but has anyone else noticed that Inner Sakura was slowly shown less and less after Sasuke left, and as she grew closer to Naruto? And (I'm not sure because I don't read all the manga) as far as I know, Inner Sakura has not appeared once in the Shippuuden, where Sasuke is almost completely out of the picture, and Naruto seems to be her closest friend, maybe even more.
Okay, rant over.

1. They have no illusions about the other person. Their relationship is one based first as teammates - Sakura didn't like him very much then - but one that changed into a tentative friendship. They've seen each other at their ugliest and weakest. They've stood up for each other and despite Sakura's growing respect for Naruto and the fact that he has become her one hope - the person she believes more than anyone - and despite the fact that he had liked her and that crush he had on her had evolved as well as Sakura evolved - not just her being pretty anymore, but someone who has truly grown and shown strength and change, someone who shares and understand his goals... in the end, neither put the other on a pedestal. They know each other as who they really are and still accept and love, trust and believe in each other.
2. They make each other strong. When one of them is losing hope, the other one steps up and cheer the other up and cheer the other on. Naruto is not the only one who gave Sakura strength, she gives it back to him when he begins to lose hope and lose sight of the goals they share, as well.
3. They have similar goals - to retrieve Sasuke, to become stronger, to be acknowledged, to bring back and mend Team 7, protect Konoha and their friends, to not become a rehash of what happened to their Sanin teachers, and even for Naruto to become Hokage one day. The list goes on. But either way, it is also something that not only binds them to each other in the long run, but something that will help shape them into people growing towards each other instead of people growing apart.
4. They're equals. They've both struggled and fought and clawed their way to the people they are now, watched each other grow up and, in many ways, their respect are based on something solid and true as a long-existing friendship and a bond that is deeper than friendship.
5. They make each other laugh and they are similar in all the right places. The places they are similar does not actually cause real conflict or real rifts in their relationships, and the differences are what will make both of them strong when they are together as a team.
6. The genuine caring and feelings they have for each other - romantic or otherwise - is something that grew and was built upon. It did not just happen, it was not "love at first sight" and whatever else there is to describe the superficial. There is history and memories, pains and hurts, laughter and tears.
As I said, the list goes on. But I like NaruSaku because it is something that developed over time and it wasn't based on physical attraction but something like an emotional connection... something deeper ties them. Not just fate but they understand each other and they started in similar places - losers (though Naruto was on the extreme end of this) - and they fought their way up toward their goals (which at times are the same and at times are just similar). They are not strangers to each other and whether or not they get together, whenever I see Naruto and Sakura share a private moment, there's just something very fond and warm that grew between them. They're there for each other, and I think that's really what makes me like them in the end.

Crack Pairings KakaSaku, SaiSaku
Respected/Possible Canon Pairing SasuSaku
Cannot Stand NaruHina (at least not the fandom, anyway), NaruTsu, NaruSaku'sMom (Ew.), Naru/Anyone'sMomOrGrandma, SakuJir, SakuIta, SakuVillainThat'sNotKabuto
I generally tend not to really like pure romance or WAFF because they are usually badly written. I like a good old dramedy with a nice side of romance. Give me plot, character development anyday over the regular stuff.
