As for the next chapter I'm eagerly awaiting it and the continuation of this great work. Keep up the awesome job Desaix I hope you are able to finish your masterpiece as so many other authors seem to be robbed of that chance. (Damn that thing called a life!)

And 20,000+ words in a week isn't too unrealistic -- John Ringo (Science Fiction author and occasional NYT bestseller, most famous for the Posleen series) has been known to write 25,000 words\day. At my peak, I can manage 10,000 a day when I have time to write, though more often I'm at 3-5,000\day when I have time to write (note those conditions -- I haven't had time to write in months, and I'm at the point where I'll need time to reread the whole thing first, too). David Weber reports he can do 6-7,000 words\day on average. David Drake, another sci-fi\fantasy author, is considered 'slow' at 1,800 words\day, which would be close to 15,000 words in the eight-day period above -- just a little faster and he could make it, too. So, I don't think there's anything TOO odd by the speed.
Except the difference between those people and the author for "Return of Uzumaki" is that they're actually good authors.

Yes, I have read the fic. Yes, I have also noticed that there are _parts_ of 1 or 2 chapters that are partly taken from TftJ. But I have also noticed that most of the story is (I assume) his/her own work.
Besides, if you don't like it, don't read it. Only because there is 'NaruSaku' in the summary doesn't mean you _have_ to read it. I have only read maybe 50% of all the NaruSaku fics, since the other half is just crap.

Just like what happened to Dragon6 when someone took his story word for word and produced it as their own. It was taken down and reported but even still there is another just like Return of the Uzumaki where it's a stripped down version of Mizukage.
Authors of the Fanfiction genre are becoming very bad about stealing the whole concept of another successful author and calling it their own. A watered down story is not what most of like which is why as you said most of us don't read into the stories much due to that problem. But the fact still remains there is authors out there like Hakker who steal a good work and trash the original legacy.

I think that is one of the biggest problems with alot of the younger authors today in my opinion. They take the "cool" parts and water it down with half assed work. Desaix spent long hours coming up with the concept and originality as have so many other authors. I don't think it's too much to ask for the author to at least acknowledge they took the work from another instead of just claiming it is coincidence.
So yes I agree and I don't bother reading it Jaques......I read a good author like desaix who puts their heart and soul into the work. Providing a masterpiece for others to enjoy that is of their sweat, blood and tears and something they can actually call their own not a slapped together piece of trash. For that I say Desaix is one of the best authors in the fan fiction genre and there have been a number of others who have said the very same thing on various boards.

If you do plan on continuing otherwise my question following the first was when you planned on the whole confrontation with Anko to "persuade" her into telling the truth. Both females in Naruto's life know he's named Hokage and all and from the way your story is pushing it seems he will succeed. So I'm kinda curious when the intervention is going to take place or is that for future volumes.

Oh well, maybe get an answer maybe not guess just stuck with the official and unofficial spoilers being posted on possible paths the story is taking. Here is to hoping for a new chapter with this coming year. (if not that is alright too life comes first then the stories for others)

You haven't experienced the full cofusion of modern gender relations until you've heard an angry group of women yelling, "We want tentacles!" at an all-night Hentai-fest.

No progress on training. Too busy.
Long story is, my mother had surgery to remove a cancer last week (the pathology report states it was a 'stage 1-C' cancer, which means it should be cured, no chemo, minimal to no chance of recurrance). The operation went well, but she's still 6-8 weeks from being back on her feet. In the meantime, since I've got the most flexible schedule of anyone in the family, I'm the one who has to take care of her.
How is this different from the time before that, when I also wasn't writing? Well, the really super-big project that has been keeping me from Naruto for so long ended today, at least for the moment. I was planning to announce my return in this post, but it turns out that instead I'll have to announce further delay while most of my time is taken up by my mother. I thought I'd be able to write a little bit in the extra 'down time' I had, but I opened up the file for Training today and just stared at the chapter I'd half-written, completely lost. So, looks like I'll need time to refresh myself before I can get back to writing.
I'll get back on track eventually. When, however, is a pretty big question. I haven't read any of the past 4-5 chapters of canon manga, either, nor watched the new episodes of Naruto Shippoudan yet. My head just isn't in the series, at the moment, and I might move on to some of my other, less-work-needed-to-continue fanfics first. Or I might not. We shall see...
(I know this seems discouraging, but look at it this way: The fic hasn't been forgotten. I just need to do other things at the moment)

@desaix: I was thinking about doing a study in Kishi's artstyle and make this into a doujinshi at some point, but know that I won't upload anything to the web without your aproval. If I do decide to start drawing, I'll do it one chapter at a time, so it will be a long project.
It's been on my mind for a while though, but I'll send you a sample if I ever get around to it (don't hold your breath though, since I still have my studies to worry about).

Well, this is just to say that I love your fic, that I hope to read more of it (although I still have three chapters left to read), but that I think your life (as in family, social, work and so on) is more important than fanfiction.
Which means that while I certainly hope that you will keep working on "Training", I certainly won't be holding it against you if you don't. (That would be a lot hypicritical of me since I actually have four fics going that I have yet to end, some I haven't been working on in the last five years or so).
Anyway, you said once that you didn't think "Trouble" was that good of a work, and in return got lots of replies saying that YES, it WAS that good a work. Well, I agree. This is possibly one of the very best fanfiction stories I've been given to read, and I've read a lot, be it Naruto fanfics or not.

Let light be our guide towards victory
Whenever there's despair there's a darkness, whenever there's hope there's a light and it's up to us to bring in that light.

More news: My e-mail is changing (anifics.com is gone. Some ghosts of it will remain for a while, apparently, but the e-mail server died... as did the owner of that server and the whole domain, Philip Mak. I didn't know him very well, but I was very greatful when he came through and provided the e-mail account for free when I needed it. He will be missed). I'd tell y'all what the new one is, but the g-mail base account I have right now may be a temporary one to fill in while I look for a more permanent address (I prefer my e-mail to come from a private server over an insanely huge corporation's like Google, even if the performance is reduced some... no unexpected changes in the terms-of-service, for example, or at least ones you can argue with if you have a case).
I've changed the e-mail both here and at fanfiction.net, so go ahead and PM me to get in touch -- I'll get to it eventually, even if I don't always respond nowadays. Or you can just post here, if it isn't something private -- I always check this thread, anyway, and these boards have been set as my default homepage when loading up Internet Explorer or Firefox (I still use IE, mostly, because I do a lot of work with businesses that require IE for their websites to function properly, but I kinda wish I could just dump them and go purely to Firefox, especially now) so I'm passing through often enough to keep an eye on this thread, even when I'm not reading much else on these boards.

sorry to hear about you mom, thoughts go out to her to get well soon.
I kinda know what you're going through, my dad had triple bypass a few years ago. Good news is, everything went just fine and he was back on his feet in no time. So I hope the same is true for your mother.
On an unrelated note:
Just finished reading through Training for probably the fourth time.
Anyone else REALLY wish this story WAS canon? (or in my case, routinely forget that it isnt?)

I've recieved a letter (really yesterday, but this is the first chance I've had to post about it here) from DAW books about their interest in purchasing my original fantasy novel that some of you were helping me with earlier. I still have a LOT of work to do before I even have a contract negotiated, much less get published (I don't have an agent, either, which means I have to do a bit more work to be certain I'm not getting taken advantage of, and then when I have an agreement in principle I'll have to run it by a specialized lawyer to make sure there are no surprises, etc.), but it's progress.
