It's not a scar. Just her body being physique. Like we need to know it from a 12 year old. First her behind now this. I'm scared. Thank God TG isn't like that...I forgot to point out that Sarada has a scar on her belly in the picture released for the movie today. Don't know what that really entails though...

It would have been a plot use, but it's not.I'm pretty sure that's a scar. It looks like a literal cut on her belly. It looked reddish too.

I have the answer for you...Naruto is a tyrant, and any opposition that may rise on his domain is quickly put out by his secret police...ANBU and sent to Orochimaru to experiment on.
Sasuke's "mission" is to look for any renegades that may escape the village, they are quickly captured and taken to be experimented on.
Edit: Shin is just a noble refugee from those experiments.
This... This fits so much that it's scary.
Also I'm with the people who say Salad doesn't have a scar, it's just the way Kishi can't draw draws her.

I'm assuming it happens during Gaiden. Probably when they save Sakura or whatever. It would have been a plot use, but it's not.
Ignore all the SS mess, but yeah, that looks like a scar

Not a good chapter for Naruto.
Salad has been looking for answers in regards to her parents and no one close to the situation has been honest with her. Suigetsu decides that he would offer a little help in her search and Naruto calls him a dumbass for it? Are you serious? God forbid someone actually give a young girl some clear answers.
No kidding. Sakura would rather devolve into massive property damage and than be straight about it. Sarada gave you the perfect opening to sit her down and tell the truth. Such things aren't easy, but, seriously, when she found the picture Sakura should have realized that hey, she has doubts and is smart and will probably look into this, so how about she tell the truth!
Nah, destroying her house in a fit of incoherent babble was clearly the better option.
There's no way that you could've known Naruto? Maybe if you would step away from your laptop and ramen in your office and spend time with your precious "friends", maybe you wouldn't look like a moron. I'm sure that Sakura would've loved to share some of her troubles with someone that she trusts and considers a friend. Then again, it's hard to imagine that that trust and friendship is still there at this point.
He couldn't step away. All that porn.
Even if Naruto know, I can't see him stabbing both Sakura and Sasuke in the back. They would almost certainly have instructed him to not say anything. How many here would have run around and done it anyway?
EDIT: I do agree he's an ass for blaming Suigetsu and not the people that withheld the information for twelve years.
Personally, my biggest disappointment is that Team Not Seven is still alive.
So....Orochimaru lives Sasuke knows where he is and nobody care that one of the villages biggest criminals (and monsters) is right down the street living it up in his cave. No problem. Nobody is ever held accountable for anything.
So Karin had a child with the person who left her for dead and then they left her with the other person he tried to kill? The greatest moment is manga history would be Sasuke explaining how he knew Sarada's mother. Bet no one talks about that part.
WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO TO OROCHIMARU, KISHI?!?!?!?!?!?!
I don't know why he's not in jail and why nobody cares that he's not. Well, other than this being Naruto....
I like how self-serving behavior apparently = redemption.
AND JUST DIE, CHOUCHOU!!!! SERIOUSLY!!!!!
Yeah, joke got old a while Kishi. Stop destroying the mood, it wasn't funny the first five times.
..................and Shin IS just a rehash of Danzo.........
Oh, no. It's much better than that.
He's Danzo + Obito + Akatsuki + Orochimaru.
Finally, I hate his villain monologues. It's so lazy and another one of those that's designed to be wrong right out of the gate. So, hard to take seriously when they can't take position that at least will be taken seriously long enough for people to listen.

What a funny twist! Now SS got a small taste similar to how we felt when the kittens hit the fan for us back in Nov 2014. Betrayed
Disappointed
...you know... Even if this DNA is a "red herring" at least we get to enjoy this moment lol.

Yeah, that whole boundaries thing. I think it's Kishi just throwing in a little ship baiting on one hand, what with Naruto being the one who notices that Sarada is missing (not her father) and Naruto being the one who is standing there angry about this apparent betrayal of Sasuke.
Yet on the other hand, Naruto doesn't lay blame where it's due. Instead of being outwardly mad at Sasuke he jumps on Suigetsu for Team Taka always getting into everyone else's business (wtf? team jealousy much, Naruto?). Which is to be expected, of course. And the underlying theme of this chapter is that not only is Sasuke godlike but he gets all the girls! He's totally Gary Stu!!
Every girl that's there is wound up around Sasuke somehow. (With even ChouChou thinking he's cute.) They're dealing with Orochimaru and Team Taka, and the new enemy is a Danzo knock off who is only after the Uchiha power.
How does Naruto not feel like and extreme third wheel here?!? If he was taken out of the scenes, then this story would still go on without a hitch!!
It should be Uchiha Gaiden not Naruto Gaiden!!!
edit: TBH, I think Naruto's in the story to provide the caring element for Sakura and Salada, because there is no way Sasuke is ever going to be a caring/loving father/husband. That's Naruto's role here.
I haven't read the chapter (I probably should) but I just don't know if I can bring myself to read this one. Especially after reading your post. Does it make clear that Sasuke and Karin had an actual thing? Or does it just say she's Sarada's mother? And I wholeheartedly agree that Sasuke is a Gary Stu. It's just absolutely comical at this point.
It's so sad seeing how far off the rails this story has gone. And it's STILL all about sharingans and the Uchiha. I know NH is unpopular, but maybe we could see the rest of Naruto's family just once? Maybe?
Should I bother reading this chapter?

We told them so. Welcome aboard guys!
Another thig... Wouldn't have been far simpler for Suigetsu to simply know about the child. How much of a stretch could that have been? Instead, we have to believe they invented computers, then developed them to the point of portability, and developed DNA technology to the point where people have portable equipment that can do the job (and do it accurately--what no glove Suigetsu, would you not just have contaminate both sample with your own DNA) in five minutes.

Taking a quick look and coming from someone who draws, thats to far up to being anything to really define the body.
Throwing down with that its a scar.

Alright I broke down and skimmed the chapter. Sorry if I am rehashing stuff, I don't feel like reading the whole thread
This is such a terrible plot device. It's so tiresome seeing all the focus on Sasuke and his family. And they are just conveniently by Orochimaru's lair? Sarada's angst, however justified, just doesn't interest me. And once again, Naruto is portrayed as dumb and ineffectual.
Also, the ChouChou jokes are really old.

We have no idea about them being a thing, just that Karin is the mother. It was probably after murder attempt part 2. You know, Sasuke's version of foreplay or something,

Forneverworld's review:
"I tell you right now, I don't care what anyone says, this is easily one of the most entertaining, most well-written spin-off series that I've read. Period."
Uh, what? Well-written? Entertaining? What?
Are we reading an entirely different work than everyone else? Are we still just salty that NS didn't happen? I really don't understand.
