This has been such an awful week with SHINee's Jonghyun suicide. I always Jonghyun he had depression, but his death still caught me by surprise. At least he's free of the pain now. I hope his family, friends, and the other SHINee members will get through this.

I hope he can finally rest well now, truly.

Jonghyun’s suicide note was incredibly painful to read. The heartache, the stress, the pressure he felt, thinking he wasn’t good enough. Now looking back at videos of him smiling and laughing, no one ever knew the true magnitude of his depression underneath it all. He was so young, had an amazing career with SHINee, and just starting his solo career a year ago.
I hope he can finally rest well now, truly.
Yes, his farewell letter was painful. He was silently suffering so much. Who knows how many other idols feel like him...
Jonghyun was preparing for his suicide for a while. He completed the album, shot the MV, did the photoshoot, did his last concert, did one last variety show, and gave Dear Cloud's singer Nine the farewell letter weeks before in case something were to happen. He made sure to complete everything of his checklist before he would take his life.
I have no idea what will happen with SHINee from now on, and honestly it doesn't matter. If they choose to disband, that's fine by me.

At least manga industry is not as bad as the entertainment industry, even if it really competitive if not more.

Shinee will go ahead with their tour in Japan: https://www.billboar...an-concert-tourThey will be disband. East Asian is truly capitalist and it mirrored their entertainment industry.

But after that, idk what’s next for them...
And yeah, the entertainment industry in East Asia is brutal. They aren’t seen as people, but as characters, and it’s disturbing. Rabid kpop fans who fixated on them do not help alleviate this problem at all.

Taemin implied that he does not want to separate, but they might change their mind later on. Loosing their close friend and MAIN vocal is a hard blow. TVXQ was able to continue though even though they've lost three members.
Onew will have to enlist this or next year though, and in addition to this, contract renewals come up this year. The one I am worried about is Onew b/c of the sexual harassment scandal he had, which honestly should have never blown up this much. It was a misunderstanding from what I've heard.

What happened to Shinee is jarringly similar to the suicide of Linkin Park's lead singer Chester Bennington mid-2017. Both Linkin Park and Shinee were immensely popular during the 2000s in their respective countries. Both lead singers had depression and both committed suicide for comparable reasons.
Linkin Park still went on with their live performances after that, honoring Chester, so I think that's the road Shinee will take for now. Maybe both will go on hiatus after? Change their band names? Split? Everyone handles these things differently, so we'll just have to wait
Right with TVXQ & JYJ. EXO also lost members and doing great to this day. But the sudden death of someone has a vastly different impact than people just leaving imo. Still, they could bounce back with a new song even, but thinking about it is so hard when something so tragic happened like that :( ...
I believe that Onew didn't mean harm in any intentional way, and his friends apologized for his actions as well. Still, he should keep his hands to himself next time, drunk or not. God damn it Onew.

While I have never really listened to Linkin Park, I've heard multiple times that Jonghyun's death was similar to Chester's. You're right, we will have to wait and see how SHINee will go forward from now on, but either way, I'll fully support them! They were one of the first KPop groups I got into, and after having wiggled my way through soooooooooo many groups, I still believe SHINee is one of the best KPop groups that has ever existed. Their discography was solid and experimental (at least after Lucifer; their earlier stuff did not age well), amazing choreography (Taemin duh), and have three solid vocalists.
SHINee has definitely passed that stage of being trendy, but they are doing just fine in terms of having a solid fanbase and doing constant tours in Japan.
Onew... *sigh* He was just too drunk and fell several times while unintentionally holding onto the woman dancing on the table. Like Super Junior's Kyuhyun has said: "He never learned to drink responsibly." I hope he's gotten to learn his limits better since that unfortunate incident.
Btw, Jonghyun's new MV and album will be released in a few days. If shipping wasn't so expensive, I would have ordered it T_T

So Onew is the touchy handsy kind of drunk huh... yuck lol. I’m sure he’s learned by now. I hope.
There is no wayyy that I’ll be looking at that MV without feeling weird and anxious. He knew this was gonna be his last MV. Is a teaser out for it as yet?
