I kinda agree with you, though its known that some heads in SP worship Hinata, And the last was their idea in the end. So I guess that even if Kishi choose the end pairings and how things were going to pan out, SP has part of the blame for making such a horrible biased job with the movie that ended up hurting the ending even more 

Not to defend but what if the love story is from them but Hinata wasn't the one have in mind. Again, I'm only throwing it out there. Granted, if it was this, I would be like "Errr...not how I wanted it to be..."

If the last happened with NS as the main pairing I would be disgusted really.

 

NS was good because it was logical and cohesive with the themes of the story, if somehow SP made a movie that used NS as a means to retcon aspects of the story added  with some overly cheesy pairing moments in between all the while making Sakura look like a damsel in distress ... I would hate it the same way.

I have to disagree about Kishimoto "selling out."

How I see it, is that he simply made a horrible decision when it came to pairings at the end. What he planned to do (from his own mouth) was to make NH canon with little explaination and certainly wasn't motivated to make a movie about it. SP suggested a romantic film, but I'm sure it was Kishi who confirmed to them that Naruto would not be getting with Sakura, and instead Hinata.

My main reason for thinking this is that Studio Pierrot, before The Last, were undeniably geared towards NaruSaku. Most of the pairing fillers were for this ship, and any extra material such as OVAs and OP/EDs were more NS orientated as well. They did not care much for NH, and they certainly had a dislike for SasuSaku. So why would they compell Kishimoto to make it happen? Meanwhile Kishi himself was known for trolling every pairing under the sun since Kage Summit. He was not as straightforward as you say he was. Even pre 693, what happened? After the CPR scene, there was 685 and the damn cowboy color spread. Before that there was 469, and more trolling. I see this as SP having to go with NH because that was what was decided, but if they had a choice it wouldn't be NaruHina and SasuSaku that won at the end. That blame is on the author.

Really? I kind of glad, how The Last turned out, if it's NH wank fest, then it's only way they deserved it, stupid plot, flashy animation, fullthrole OOCness of characters, lame DB-style fight's that had no sense, loud words about "the last" and "all bonds" and many other lies. Hinata became someone important in the story... how exactly? Through her kitten... well, that's says alot about character. So... in manga her importance was about 0%. Naruto never even thinked about her without her around.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't hate Hinata before the ending, yes she was annoying, but I disliked her only because of her fans and luck of development (especially 615). But now - she deserve all the hate she could get. That's what you get, when trying to turn minor underdog-character into pop-idol for otakus and heroine of another's story. I never wanted Hinata to end dead (as many Hinata fans and NH fans wanted Sakura to be in the end), she had potential to become good incert model for girls that is shy, to become strong, independent female character, by overcoming her obsession with Naruto, by becoming someone who can guide her clan, to be better sister.

But what development author gave her?

- One plot fight (her core development in part 1)

- One suicide attempt.

- Asspuled jutsu that came from nowhere.

- Bunch of fails on the war.

- One jutsu that her cousin learned and improved to even higher rank years ago.

- Combination of both jutsus

- Pairing fodder and no other purpose (615)

- Ultimate pairing fodder (The Last)

So... problem is - blind fans of Hinata, and NHtards that have extremely small angle to wacth from at The Last and all it deeds.

Now... yes. It would be totally different outcome.

Even Hinata dramaticaly changed and become more "cute" and doll-like, striped her original desing, well who cares? She got herd D, and Sakura not, that's all her fans cared for

Hyuga conflict, but that's not even got resolve and was spitted on by Kishimoto, so there could just be Hanabi as little sister, and Neji hating her instead of Hinata, only thing that would be different - Neji vs Hinata, and Naruto's reason for fighting him.

Seeing how the manga ended it's not easy to say it meant nothing, especially when it was created so close to the finale in the first place. Like I said, Kishi is known for trolling pairings, and he was still messing around then.

Agreed. The Last exposed the series heavily, so the idea of being planned is all gone.
