There's absolutely no excuse for SS. He tried to kill her on more than one occasion. I really don't see how that's a healthy basis for a relationship and I don't know how Kishi could make Sakura still fangirl over Sasuke like that. She was OOC. Sasuke was OOC. All these characters were OOC.

It does seen like it, or maybe he forced himself to end it at 700. Maybe he didn't want to go over 700, or wanted to end on an even number... Which is stupid.

 

Well, I get that since I have a problem with the number of volumes ending in odd numbers, excluding factors of five but this is no excuse. Instead of finishing it at 700, he should at least execute the story and relationships between the characters properly before ending it.

The last chapter of the manga ends with Naruto being hated by his son and being written "stupid" on his face. I don't know why but I find this a bit funny.

The funniest thing about this ending for me is just how inconclusive it was despite Kishi himself coming out and saying he'd end thing conclusively.

 

See for me I wouldn't really have much of an issue with NH/SS had Kishimoto actually put in the effort into developing those dynamics. With NH we never got an answer to her confession to Naruto nor was Naruto shown to think of her individually or in a romantic light within the entire manga. With SS we have Sasuke disregarding Sakura's life and putting her down as a ninja, only to have all he did reversed within one chapter.

 

Then there was a lack of word on what Orochimaru, Kabuto, Taka and Yamato are doing, no actual NaruSaku resolution (no talk, no anything) and just in general loose ends still remaining open.

 

I've chilled out a bit now because honestly it isn't worth trying to make sense and get angry about it. There was really no need to introduce Sakura as someone Naruto had feelings for that stuck for 699 chapters only to disregard them in the end. There was really no need to parallel him with Jiraiya and Obito, who were on teams with similar character dynamics and all failed at getting the girl, only to "foreshadow" Naruto actually achieving where they failed. There was really no need to mold Kushina from Sakura (insecurity, opinion of Minato and similar temper) and then "foreshadow" Naruto getting with her, which ties back to Jiraiya and Obito not getting them. Finally, 631 and 663 were completely unnecessary with Naruto and the girlfriend comment, Minato comparing Sakura to Kushina and the imagery and symbolism with the heart grab and CPR moment. Obito then making a comment about helping him when he stumbles.

 

The growing care and relationship between those two (which was one that saw the most change) in the end amounted to nothing simply because there was no resolution to it and everything I mentioned above. In both chapters Naruto and Sakura did not even say a word to each other despite what they went through to get Sasuke back which annoys me the most. Not even a thank you from Sakura and no even a confession which was implied would happen had Naruto achieved in getting Sasuke back. The pairing outcome is one thing, but lack of resolution to just about everything is probably what angers me the most about this ending. For a story rich in characters and world, everything was done haphazardly imo.

 

It would have been better if Naruto had not shown interest in any girl from chapter 3 imo.

So all those spoilers turned out to be true huh? Not surprised, not surprised at all. I'm sure not going to read it. I want to maintain something of a untarnished image of Sakura so I don't want to read a chapter where she becomes little more than pairing fodder for a guy who mistreated her so horribly. Call me delusional, but there are things I genuinely like about Sakura and I don't want to let go of them. Kishimoto's the one at fault for this mess anyway.

 

At least as pairings go I'll still have Soul/Maka (hey, at least it's implied), Chrno/Rosette (even the tragic ending of Chrno Crusade is a hundred time better than this utter BS), and Aang/Katara (irrefutably canon). And I'm still holding out hope for Oz/Alice in Pandora Hearts.

 

Yup, time to move on and pretend such this horrendous ending never happened. I don't get what Kishimoto is even thinking, this manga has turned into complete nonsense.

i'm jealous of the purity of your eyes for which they have not seen. i wish i can go back and time :(
