No one said this. I'm not going over it again. The romantic subplot is an intentional and integral part of the story. Reread the other comments for the reasons why.
The JUMP Festa 2009 only shows he's annoyed with NH fans, but after that experience, I'm sure as hell Kishi is absolutely sick of hearing about the pairing stuff and would rather hear something else about the story from his fans.
And the reason why Kishi is dragging this out (pairing stuff) is because of his editor which I'm willing to bet a hundred grand on this being true.
I'm sorry, but it is fantasy to think that this is how Naruto as a brand works. Kishimoto may have some input into this movie — contractually able to have more control over what stays and what goes, whereas in the other movies he hasn't — but he in no way is sitting in the room with the publicity team for anime studio or for the publishing/media distribution group that owns the rights to Naruto.
Kishimoto is the creator. It takes a literal army of people to create a weekly manga, get it finished, printed, distributed. And that's just the paper side. The weekly anime is another army. The annual movie is another army. And the publicity, the contract negotiating, the payment of salaries and the protection from copyright infringement is another army.
And these armies of people have little else in common except A) the creator, and B) VIZ Media (or the corporation who holds the publishing rights to Naruto) who pays their salaries.
Kishimoto does not have time to sit and read twitter-size comments as part of a lame publicity stunt! He has a friggin' job to do! And if he doesn't do his job, this enormous pyramid of people who sit underneath him to do not get paid!
And in creating the manga, it is a completely romantic an unrealistic idea to think that he sits at his desk and works in a bubble (stopping only to let blue birds pick up the finished pages, the ink drying as they flutter them down to the corporate office).
He works in tandem with editors and assistant artists, as well as administrative assistants to help handle paperwork, fan mail and other nuisance details of running a business.
And as the sole creator he would have had to have submitted a detailed plot to the VIZ (or whomever holds the big distribution rights) before they decided to sink money into him. It would've had several contingencies: a one year, two year, five year and ten year plan. More artists flake out than ever stick to it and finish things. The fact that he's been able to keep this going for 10+ years is remarkable in itself, but it also speaks highly of his finding a good working groove and good collaboration with those aorund him.
Also, Kishimoto probably has a whopping insurance policy on him, through company that owns the rights to Naruto the brand. Because if he dies.... Well, you see where I'm going. And in that vein, he's most likely submitted a detailed plan to his editors so that they can finish the work, and the rest of the contracts and salaries will proceed without a hitch. Cue sympathetic tribute, paean to Kishimoto, and the show goes on.
My point is that, with all this on his plate, he doesn't have time or even access to read these nonsense comments! No more so than JK Rowling would if it was a comment form for a movie while she was actively writing the next HP book!
I will say what I should have from the start, instead of trying to explain myself like I did. Let people post what they want. Stay out of it. It's none of your business. And if someone says they posted about pairing, don't bash them and tell them they were wrong. Just let it go.
Us males support it, but is more willing to take a neutral view on the pairing. The female portion on the other hand.... is well.... I would like to deeply apologize firsthand as this may be offensive, but I will just say this: is like the Tea Party faction of NS.
Now, not saying this generalization of mine applies to everyone. But I've seen that the most vocal members are like this from either demographic. And I am NOT saying that you gals are as bad as that God-awful faction of the GOP, but however, you gals do share some traits.
If this offends anyone, feel free to delete my post mods (or edit it) mods. I apologize.
If you have a feeling this post is giong to offend someone, then why are you posting it?
But really, this last addendum just undermines everything else you've said. You have gone from telling me what Kishi think and does, to declaring how fans break down along male/female lines? Why read the manga anymore? Why don't you just let us all know how that ends and we can end this whole debate!
Comparing someone like ciardha, who is an outspoken feminist and clearly liberal, to a Tea Partier is going for the low-hanging fruit. It's laughable as a personal dig. Don't waste anymore of our time with your ridiculous remarks. And don't insult, then post some weak apologetic excuse in the next paragrah. It's clearly a personal insult and has no place here.
But lastly, if you mean that by sharing traits we both take the time to explain where we are coming from through personal experience and we don't just talk out of our asses, then yeah, we have that in common. You should try being more like one of the "gals" sometime.
I'm done with this. Take the rest to pm if you have something more to say.
