Not true. Luffy drafted the constitution of the fan club, we both signed and squealed like little girls when Lord Obito gave his approval. I think we're the only two members though...

Obito. Obito by far. Sasuke never truly cared about the Uchiha, deep down it was his desire to beat Itachi that drove him, he had no care about the honor of the clan, as seen when he renounced then after he learned the truth behind Itachi. He chose pain, Obito did not and had it forced on him. Sasuke had a choice on how to live, Obito had no such choice until it was too late. None of Sasuke's ideals made any sense, Sasuke was a hypocrite from start to finish. His character development was a wreck from start to finish. Obito was truly alone for the majority of his life, Sasuke chose to push that away. Obito was a good villain that had pain that you could actually feel, whereas Sasuke's pain wasn't even his own, it was Itachi's. Sasuke was pretty much a waste of ink, he could have been done a lot better.

Edit: also Id like to add that Obito's position was more contrarian to Narutos position than Sasuke's was. Obito was truly the opposite of Naruto, their ideals were fundamentally combative. Sasuke was combative against Naruto due to jealousy, other than Sasuke's jealousy, they had no real reason to fight.

Ria and I came to the same conclusion as well. 

 

 

This is also something we both agreed on, but imagine if we had Obito (younger self) as Naruto's rival instead of Sasuke.  Both of them wanted to become Hokage, and had girls they wanted to end up with Plus two characters who were all so similar too. Now here is the thing one of them falls to the dark side, I'm more so talking about Obito. Again you have a similar phase where Rin dies and Obito joins the darkside with Madara to the infinite Tsukiyomi and Ofcourse you have Naruto do what he did in the manga. It would've probably been a whole lot better. Plus to have him makeup for what he did Obito takes a bullet for Naruto similar to what he with Kakashi just before he died.

While working on my fanfic with Ria we somehow got into the topic of Uchihas. 

 

Who had the better story and character development? Sasuke or Obito? why?

That's a difficult question.

 

For Sasuke, he was supposed to be the talented anti hero, who wanted to change the system after he found out the truth, right? Problem is, we didn't know that, until the last few chapters, everyone was just confused on why he went psycho and what his plans were. So for a long time it just looked like Sasuke was just a plot device to keep the story moving. Not to mention, because of this piss poor ending, his conclusion sucked. We don't know why he decided to give up in the end, considering this battle wasn't as thrilling as their first, so it just looks like he suffered from brain damage, thanks to the blast and gives up.

 

Obito, is supposed to be a Naruto gone wrong, but I'm not exactly sure why he became evil and started a war, other than the fact that Rin died.( an explanation would be nice, if someone knows more.) Was it Naruto's TnJ that convinced him to return to the light, because I can't remember. In the end though, he sacrifices his life to protect Naruto and helps T7 get back together to defeat Kaguya.

 

Both have some sketchy character development, but in the end, we can at least understand why Obito went back to the light, while no one can make a good argument on why Sasuke gave up on his life goals, had a child with a woman he clearly doesn't love, and decides to travel alone for more than a decade. So the lesser of two evils, will be Obito.

I really don't see how not caring about the Uchiha is a flaw, I mean you like Obito when he helped Itachi murder the Uchiha who were his flesh and blood for no reason, furthermore Sasuke in fact did care as he went full on psycho because of them and Itachi, and he has this strong sense of pride as shown when he tries to kill Kakashi for showing the Sharingan.

Wow, so Sasuke chose pain while Obito didn't? Obito lost Rin and went psycho, you can argue that if he tried to leave instead of returning to Madara, Madara would still chase him but he didn't even try that.

Don't know how he was a hypocrite. Character development means growth, as bad as it can be its still growth and both Obito and Sasuke had them, Sasuke's wasn't done badly like Obito's.

Its really funny how the same thing could literally be said to Obito, besides Sasuke never complained about being alone in fact he wanted to as he was afraid of losing important people again.

 

 

 

Obito was a good villain that had pain that you could actually feel, whereas Sasuke's pain wasn't even his own, it was Itachi's

 

Obito is a trash villain/character who should have stayed under those boulders so he could have died awesome, only Kaguya comes close to his level of kittentyness but at least she spared us constant flashbacks shoved down our throats, Obito's pain was from a girl who didn't like him, you really can't sympathize with such a character. While Itachi's story was sadder, Sasuke lost his parents and clan in front of him by his brother that can't be compared to losing one person. 

 

 

 

Sasuke was pretty much a waste of ink, he could have been done a lot better.

 Obito was the waste of ink, Sasuke character only got bad when Kishi decided to have Naruto be the hero of everyone and tried to justify his obsession for him.

bc Obito's story was simply terrible, Sasuke was not that good either with Kishi not knowing where to take his character and ending the story with a complete BS resolution on his side...

 

But if I had to chose someone I'd chose Obito because

It's another proof that people are less interested in Naruto than in other mangas, even in Japan ! I can't even imagine how much money a gintama movie can make compared to naruto !

Gintama had 100 less screening than Naruto. I guess Sunrise underestimated the fanbase.
