There is a very good fic called Buried Feelings chapter 8 updated by Japboix.

Btw, I'm annoyed atm, because there is this flamer who flames every NS story I read dry.gif The reviews he writes on all those stories are the same! "Naruto is a love sick puppy and Sakura is a b*tch." "(When Naruto rejects Hinata)You are a Hinata hater like every other NS writer". Just by reading the reviews it's obvious he didn't read the story. His motive is to discourage every NS author out there. So if, any writer here gets that review, don't be discouraged it's the same flamer.

Sorry for my little rant.

Yeah all he does is read NaruSaku fanfics and complains like an idiot. I'm lucky that he hasn't stuck his nose in my reviews.

When anonymous reviews are allowed, he posts as Kyuubi-sama. Kyuubi-sama=Suave Jiraiya.

Probably the writers wouldn't care much as it is a typical haters review, but as a reader it kind of disturbs me a lot and it's hard to concentrate on the story when your favorite writer gets attacked just because it was a NaruSaku story dry.gif

Not read all of Suave Jiraiya's reviews but the few I read recently I can see his point, the fics in question have depicted Naruto as a weak-minded fool who still runs after Sakura after she keeps on screwing him over, or Sakura only looks at Naruto because all her other options are no longer available and Naruto ends up as sloppy seconds, or is only interested in him after he's grown up into a good-looking badarse ninja, even though that might not be the Authers intention, it does come accross as being the reason she's fallen in love with him.

But when you write a fic you will come accross bad reviews, some more damning than others, some are just trolling, some encourage the auther into thinking it's the greatest fic ever when in reality it doesn't make a lick of sense...If you want to write fics and post at ff.net which caters for all pairings, you have to be prepared for them. I don't always leave reviews, but when I do it's because the fics made an impact on me, whether it's good or bad will reflect in my review, though recently appears more bad than good.

The reason I thought he was a flamer was because the reviews I read all had the same content. Every story is different so the reviews should be different, no? When the reviews are nearly exactly the same for stories with different plot lines, characters with different characteristics, it does look like flaming. (The other problem I have is that he's a complete sexist. He praises a story where one guy gets many girls and all the girls have no life but to stick with the guy, but he complains stories where the guy is seriously in love with the girl, and the girl still has to come in terms with what she feels.)

At the bolded, I don't read those crappy stories so if he leaves a review there and I read the story I'll probably agree with him, lol (At the end, I've read much more than 100 stories through the years but only have 10 in my favorites).

Also, talking of reviews, why do Sakura-centric NS stories get bashed and Naruto-centric NS stories get praised? For example there are stories which starts with Sakura still in love with Sasuke, and Naruto still in love with Sakura, and Sakura starts to get confused about her feelings. In these stories, there are so many negative reviews that goes "Make Naruto go with Hinata!" "Let that guy dump the b*tch!" And believe me, it's not like Sakura slept with Sasuke, and treats Naruto like kitten or anything. She is just confused about her feelings(Isn't this closest to what canon is?). Then I see these same reviewers, praising stories where Naruto treats Sakura like kitten, Sakura crying, and Naruto sleeps around with other girls. If NH is Hinata-centric, is the majority of NS Naruto-centric? If I want NS to happen, I want both of them happy. But when I see these reviews, I begin to think if I'm the minority of the NS fandom.

A bunch of people out there hate Sakura, that's why. Kinda obstinate feelings that she's still stuck in her Part 1 personality (Sasuke fangirl) when it's obviously not the case.

I think I might get in trouble with FFnet admins with this one though, so I'm trying to rewrite it right now, haha. I thought it'd be okay if I used heavily modified translations of jpop song lyrics sprinkled throughout the story to give it flavor, since it's not direct copy-paste from English-language songs, but apparently it still might fall under copyright issues.

And, yeah, I'm a guy, though I guess I don't really mind if people want to think I'm a girl, lol sweatdrop.gif

yeah, I saw your review by "goody two shoes," the self-appointed ff.net police.

you know, I was surprised that they were lyrics. They fit and flowed like poetry. Honestly, if you've used heavily modified versions, paraphrasing the originals, I'd be willing to bet nothing will come of it.

You could even easily amend the author's note by saying "Inspired by" the songs. Honestly I don't think you should rewrite it. Paraphrasing is not necessarily copyright infringement. But it's up to your comfort level. That "critics united" group certainly does bang the drum on ff.net rules, but in no way offers constructive criticism to anyone.

edit: so after a quick search of copyright infringement, there is quite a bit of wiggle room between directly quoting and paraphrasing, meaning as long as you've changed the tone, tempo or sentiment of the content. So if you've taken the time to rework a line of the song into a form of poetry, then you've paraphrased it. The song lyrics were the inspiration. And if you've taken this into consideration before you even posted by heavily modifying as you've said, I hope you stick to your guns about it. Label it as "inspired by" or alter the author's note to say that those songs were your inspiration playlist, because that sounds like what the case really is. Not abject rule flouting as some reviewers would like to believe.

Thanks for looking into it for me, tricksie, much appreciated happy.gif

But from past experience with FFnet admin, I get the sense that they just delete reported fics wholesale regardless of whether there really was a violation or not, without even reading the fic or even giving the author a chance to present a case in defense. So all it really takes is one gungho reader to jump to conclusions and then *poof* story deleted. I guess it's understandable considering the amount of fics on the site, so it's probably better to just stay on the safe side. The only part of the fic that admins might have a problem with are the scene transitions anyway, which aren't a big deal and aren't too important to the story overall, so I might as well just go ahead and revise. Heck, the fic might end up being even better after I revise it, haha

Unfortunately, I completely agree. And from what i've gather from that critics united forum (of which the reviewer is a member of), they will keep reporting a story until it's removed. And although I don't think your story falls into the realm of copyright infringement (more inspired by, as you clearly wrote in your author's note), if they've decided you have broken a rule, it seems they will keep after the story until either it is altered or the story is removed. And I'm sure there are other rule-flogging groups on ff.net, that one is just the loudest. So it's kind of a lose-lose for well-intentioned authors.

It's hypocritical on one hand, because it really seems to be at the whim of the person reporting. There is no governing board or way to protect the indivdual ff.net user. But on the other hand, song lyrics could be easily targeted by the heavy-handed music industry, which has no problem going after individuals for mp3s, etc. So I can see that ff.net has a reason to steer clear of something that would draw unwanted attention to them.

Actually, it might even be a golden opportunity to create some original verses inspired by the songs. Then just leave the songs as a playlist, with no mention of being inspired, etc. You're halfway there, if you've heavily modified the lyrics. Just break free and make them your own. smile.gif Editing always brings surprising results. One of my favorite lines was from a letter, "If I had more time I would have written less." It's attributed to quite a few authors, and I'm paraphrasing....so no fear of copyright infringement here! laugh.gif

That whole Critics United thing is really just people flaunting power, and them reporting things is really stupid.
