Granted though I sway between things-I'm unsure if he cares for them equally or Sasuke more. Sometimes I believe Sasuke, sometimes I look at 299 and think equal. I really dunno.

I agree with Lazy they are pretty sexist, if they think Sakura is Sasuke territory. I bet a lot of woman jumped on him I bet.

BATTLESHIP!

I'll have to use every ounce of will power I have to not go on a warpath in any Anti Narusaku type of thread there is when NS becomes canon.

YOSH!
Let's move on with the topic.

There are only so many brother/sister arguments they can really use. With the latest chapter, that hug really isn't brother/sister. It's very intimate.

The symbolism of that scene is the moment when naruto sees the two hugging, and turns away from them. in that moment we see both a combination of his pain and his sensitivity. this is important because before this moment we recall how sakura allways said he never understood me and he always interfered with my love. now here we see naruto show understanding (emphasized by Tsunades comment on his being more sensitve then he looks). And we see his willingness to stand aside for Sakuras sake hence not interfereing with her moment. He does love her and the heart breaking pain as he realizes he cant have her is evident on his face.
In essence at this moment he does step aside for her and allows her to follow what she believes and what he mistakenly believes is her heart. He understands he isnt and wont be first in her heart and allows them this moment.
Its here that he shows his most sensitve side and is at his most mature up until the promise of a lifetime.

How sexist. It's just so sexist like the "Naruto will fall in love with Hinata because she isn't flat-chested" argument.
Moreover, that argument not only disrespects Sakura and her feelings but also Sasuke's. Sasuke doesn't want Sakura. Sasuke isn't interested in Sakura.
And about Naruto giving up... Naruto decided stopping pursuing Sakura. NOT stopping loving her. And you can see how long his determination lasted, anyway. He hit on her the very day they met again.
The brother/sister argument is idiotic and has absolutely no basis, but anti-NS shippers refuse discarding it because it's convenient.
I assure you my sister has never tried feeding me -let alone with the sultry expression she wore in that chapter-, neither she has hugged me like that.
Regarding the "Hinata has confessed so now Naruto WILL fall in love with her" argument, it reminds me of the old NH predictions:
Hinata was the last person saw Naruto leaving, so she'll become a main character in Part II - It never happened.
When Naruto sees Hinata, he'll fall in love with her - Again, it didn't happen.
But when they meet again, their relationship will reach a new level - False.
Well, if Kishimoto hasn't used Hinata in a very long time, that's because he's got something big in store for her - It hasn't happened.
When they'are together, romance will bloom between them - They were a while together, without distractions, and they barely exchanged two sentences.
But when Hinata learns about the Kyuubi - That moment happened off panel, and she didn't seem being concerned about it.
If Kishimoto placed Naruto and Hinata in the same team, that's because he planned something happening between them - Absolutely nothing happened between them.
Now Hinata confessed, they'll end up together - Naruto didn't met Hinata when he returned to the village, being greeted and hugged by Sakura and congratulated by everyone as a smiling Hinata remained hideen in the background, instead. Right now, HInata has faded back in the background again, Naruto hasn't thought one single line about her confession, they haven't talked again and he didn't even gave her a meager "thank you". So far, Lee/Sakura's scenery is happening again.
How you see, NH predictions have never been fullfilled so far. Kishimoto has never done what they wanted or expected. Some fans use the "NH is a patient love" and "screentime isn't the same thing than development" arguments, but you can see they're impatient and getting more impatient for more development.
It isn't so hard, believe me. Besides, you won't find valuable opinnions in there. Arguing about pairings is a waste of time, anyway.

I'm not sure about Sakura, but I guess he intended her to be in the series at the beginning and not starting to cause tension.
Hinata was added in the last minute, even as a citizen. That was already stated.
What's Happening with the Naruto series as of now!

Not sure how much truth is in it but I did hear that Sakura was written in as a love interest before Sasuke was even added.

Now, I know -from reading Kishimoto's notes in the volumes published by Glenat-, that Kishimoto revamped Kakashi's personality (his original personality and slang was way different) and added Sakura and Sasuke to the story during a meeting with his editor after drawing the second chapter (i. e., very early on).
However I have never heard Sakura was only there in order to create tension (and if that was going to be her only role, then why she did way more than that?). Neither I have heard he thought of Hinata when he was creating the history (which that "she wasn't added in the last minute" comment implies).
Unless that person can exhibit reliable proof, I think he/she make up that stuff.
One piece of advice: never trust "Kishimoto stated such-and-such" claims, specially if they're spewed by a shipper and those claims somehow support his/her shipping. Naruto fandom is always making up Kishimoto interviews.
Edit: And, sincerely, if you think about it, that claim reeks of concealed Sakura-bashing. According that person, Sakura's was going to be only an object for the boys fighting over, whereas Hinata was a full-fledged character since the beginning.
If that was the case, I wonder why Naruto and Sasuke never fought over Sakura, why Sakura has underwent throught a huge evolution and development since her first appearance, and why Hinata has always got such an insignificant role. I'm sorry, I don't buy it.
