And yeah, as a core element, Naruto's preference was established from the beginning. Kishimoto, being a professional creator, laid it all out. The story doesn't revolve around Naruto's love, but you can't diminish it's importance part of the foundation the plot is built on.
Thank you! And yeah it's absolutely a core plotline, and it really matters to Kishimoto. I'm always astonished that some readers don't think there's much romance in the story. Seriously, it has more romances that play important parts in the plotline than any other shonen manga I've ever read: Mito and Hashirama (tells you a key element in not being miserable and in pain as a jinchuuriki is romantic love- note how Kishimoto illustrates that not even Mito and her offspring or Kushina with Naruto, but Mito with Hashirama and Kushina with Minato), Tsunade's romantic love for Dan and Jiraiya, Jiraiya's romantic love for Tsunade, Minato and Kushiina's love, the three way love between Yahiko, Konan and Nagato, etc... there's several more besides Naruto and Sakura. Plus Kishimoto brings up the topic up again and again throughout manga and it does move the plot in important directions several times in both part 1 and part 2.... Even his reaction at Jump Festa 2009 about the Sakura bashing letters he got was a rather telling reveal on how much the Naruto and Sakura romance storyline means to him as a writer...
(And it's not like supporting NS is going to be offensive — it's the pairing shipped by the creator. I would think they'd want to hear that the audience gets it!)
Absolutely! Yeah, I seriously doubt Kishimoto will see it, they made no reference to that in their publicity. This is all for the animators. Say you ship narusaku all you want, it can only be a good thing since it is the canon ship. People shouldn't bash those that made shipping responses. I'm betting the people that read these responses would find specific things like saying you love the growing romance between Naruto and Sakura a heck of a lot more informative and interesting to read than some vague generic comment that doesn't really tell them anything. Just keep it positive folks. Talk about what you like specifically- including narusaku. It's like the positive feedback on fanfic net. "Good story" isn't really informative on what you liked about my story, where "The way you had Naruto and Sakura grow into a deep loving relationship kept me reading your story with intense interest" is very informative.
I was able to pack in several things that make me love the Naruto series in my 150 words, I mentioned the romances of Naruto and Sakura and Minato and Kushina, the serious exploration in the plot of the meanings of love and peace, that adult characters are as well developed as the young characters, and Tsunade as a leader. Those are all strong points that keep my interest. One other point I would add Sakura's character growth. I really like how she's grown. She still struggles with her own worst enemy- her low self-esteem, but she doesn't let it hold her back from acting and growing like she did before the Chunin exams in part 1. That was her true turning point- even before she went to Tsunade at the end of part 1. When she chose to act to protect Naruto's dream on the written exam, when she acted to protect Naruto, Sasuke and Lee from the Sound ninja in the Forest of Death, when she fought against Ino with the goal of getting Ino to see her as an equal... that was the foundation of her part 2 self. (You really see it in the Forest of Death, she smirks when Kin mocks her about her hair, and acts, then is completely nonchalant about her ragged hair afterward. It's Naruto that is devastated about her hair. While Sakura basically shrugs and says soothingly: "it's just hair" and doesn't mention the fight, not wanting to distress an already upset Naruto even more.

Funny, yet disturbing.

Thank you!! this is exactly what I believe, well done explaining it so well

I know that this movie will focus on more then romance but really, I think there will be a big part of it if not then why bother giving so much importance to Hinata and Sasuke's changes ( their images are bigger then the others), a big 'poster' seeing Sasuke openly flirting with Sakura while seeing Naruto totally jealous ( poor Naruto but really, finally we see him showing some emotion that clearly state that he certainly doesn't approuve SasuSaku lol) Yes, romance will have an importance in this movie, I strongly believe that.

Same thing I say you make some wonderful post, my only negative side about your post, is that you are too sure about how Sakura feel for Naruto and Sasuke but apart that your post are always fantastic.

As for Hinata still loving Naruto, I am definitely looking forward to seeing Sakura's reaction to that

As for the little survey post, everyone

Its not that big of a deal. Let everyone just write what they want to write - do you know how small of a percentage our members' posts there are going to be? I'm sure Kishi knows a chunk of fans are pairing fans - why else would he string along the pairing drama for so long otherwise? I'm sure that praise, regardless of what bit of his story its about, whether it be the relationships or the fighting or the general plot, won't offend him. The animation studio is likely just looking for a few well worded, general comments to plug in to commercials or posters and what not for Naruto, especially if the series was winding down.
So if people want to show appreciation for Kishimoto's work as a whole, or if people want to plug NarSak, just let them. No harm is going to come of it either way.

Is there a serious purpose for their difference?
Did Tobi just do it for the lols and to troll with Naruto and Sakura?

As for the survey, don't worry about it. Write whatever you want. Say you love NaruSaku to bits. Say you ship Pakkun/Akamaru. In all likelihood these responses will never reach Kishimoto (sorry to burst any bubbles). However they will go to the creative team in charge of the publicity, and they will love it. If you want to reach Kishimoto, write him a letter. But don't worry about a tiny comment response. Nothing earth-shattering will come 150-character-or-less response. It's all for fun. Just enjoy it.
(And it's not like supporting NS is going to be offensive — it's the pairing shipped by the creator. I would think they'd want to hear that the audience gets it!)
Loving the new pic. But is there a closeup of Tenten. Is she beat up? She looks like she has a bandage on her face. And Ero-Neji....

Good god.....

If you guys think Kishi's not going to read those comments, I think of the contrary. This movie project is something Kishi's personally working on. That survey is a part of the project itself. By making this connection, there's a possibility of Kishi actually reading those comments. And that is why we need to appreciate the series as a whole. Not just a small aspect of it. Do you honestly believe that Kishi won't be at least half-annoyed the majority of his fans care more about the pairings rather than the whole scope of the story?? If I were an author, I would. And unless I see Kishi flatly stating he doesn't mind pairing comments, I stand otherwise.
The JUMP Festa 2009 only shows he's annoyed with NH fans, but after that experience, I'm sure as hell Kishi is absolutely sick of hearing about the pairing stuff and would rather hear something else about the story from his fans.
And the reason why Kishi is dragging this out (pairing stuff) is because of his editor which I'm willing to bet a hundred grand on this being true.
Of course, then again I think this is the stark contrast between the male & female fans of NS here.
Us males support it, but is more willing to take a neutral view on the pairing. The female portion on the other hand.... is well.... I would like to deeply apologize firsthand as this may be offensive, but I will just say this: is like the Tea Party faction of NS.
Now, not saying this generalization of mine applies to everyone. But I've seen that the most vocal members are like this from either demographic. And I am NOT saying that you gals are as bad as that God-awful faction of the GOP, but however, you gals do share some traits.
If this offends anyone, feel free to delete my post mods (or edit it) mods. I apologize.

It's definitely fan made there's no way Kishi will troll Sasu/Hina too (it's not that famous in Japan Neji/Hina is more famous).

No one is saying the story has been all about NS; again, if you're writing a story, and you get praised for a sub plot that you are well aware has a good chunk of your fans following (again, he's played up the pairing drama too much to NOT know), why on earth would you be offended?
Furthermore, most people who said that they plugged the pairing also talked about other aspects of the story in general too. So again, what's the big deal if they mention liking the Naruto and Sakura relationship too?
Again, think about how popular Naruto is. Think about how many people from this board are posting in that survey. The latter number is vastly under proportional, so even if all of the members here who actually posted plugged NS, and nothing else, that would less than 1% of the total comments. The majority of Naruto fans are definitely NOT pairing fans, so a few comments here and there focusing on the pairings isn't going to cause him to blow a gasket. NH and SS fans far outnumber NS fans anyway, so its still not NS that he's going to get annoyed with if anyone.
Kishi was annoyed with the comments bashing Sakura, i.e. insulting a major character that he wrote, in favor of a minor character that he never intended to be so popular. As long as no one is bashing on a character or another pairing in the process (which no one has to my knowledge), then he shouldn't be bothered.
And? He obviously wanted to try some romance on his own, by bringing in this stuff all the way in chapter 3.
Us males support it, but is more willing to take a neutral view on the pairing. The female portion on the other hand.... is well.... I would like to deeply apologize firsthand as this may be offensive, but I will just say this: is like the Tea Party faction of NS.

I feel like I've taken a pretty neutral stance, imo, in that everyone should just write what they want to write, as the number of comments we're going to give in comparison the number of posts Kishi is going to get overall is overwhelmingly under proportional. But if you feel otherwise, that's your opinion, and I'll do my best to respect it.
@ Rocket: That gif is definitely fanmade (what with the choppy animation), but its awesome nonetheless!

Yes, but I think the pairing business has gotten to the point of being ridiculous. I don't know what's on Kishi's little mind, but I would think that he's gotten sick of people talking about the pairings. He's been doing this for 13 years. Surely he would've gotten sick of that pairing business now??

I do hope you're right with the numbers, because it would be embarrassing to me as a fellow fan if Kishi started to make a negative generalization of his manga's fanbase.

That was under his editor's suggestion. If I'm correct. He probably decided to give it a whirl until he (probably) later realized that it's gotten a bit ridiculous.

Well, it's fine by me if people want to send pairing-related comments to Kishi from there. I'm just recommending people NOT TO. Of course, it's all up to them.

Well I would give you this if you were saying this in the SN, NS, SS, NH debate thread I will agree, but this is the NaruSaku fan club and the most thing people will talk about here is about the pairing.
Don't get me wrong I agree with you but not here, You Tube, DeviantArt, all paring thread and any other place where the topic is Naruto and not a specific pairing forum. But not here.
