*nods* Very much so. In fact I believe that Obama will take a lion's share of the blame, because even though I identify as Democrat I feel that as President, Obama should be able to resolve this mess. It is his job to do so after all. And I feel that many Democrats and Independents are going to feel this way too, if this shutdown is allowed to happen.

You know I'm a conservative some matters and liberal on others, but this is ridiculous. We should have never gotten to this stage in the first place. I'm not particularly thrilled with Obama as a president, but I"m more upset with the Republicans who are unwilling to cooperate. They want to stand for their word rather then the American people? That's not government for the people. It's the parties own private war between one another for the next election.

They are the ones who have been most vocal about shutting it down, they ahve been the ones who refuse any compromise that could let a deal move forward. Add in the republicans conintue to offer bills with these social program riders on them, for defunding planned parent hood, etc etc.
the tea party and republicans are being completely unreasonable, and they are being the most vocal about it. All you see lately is one tea partier after another saying cut it or shut it.

To me this whole thing is a vicious cycle of Insanity, Trying the Same thing over and over expecting a different result each time. The only thing that will change though is that the majority of people will be so fed up with the process hopefully something can take hold.
The NFL joke I made previously was a comparison, but this is just getting to be ridiculous. Democrats will be hurt by it because they continue to be and look ineffective as always even when things look to go their way. They screwed themselves along with the Republicans on this issue.

Karl Rove actually says something that's not nonsensical:

Also:
"Republican leaders in the House have only a few hours left to look in the mirror, snap out of it and realize how positively shameful that would be," Reid said at one point, accusing Republicans of risking a shutdown to pursue a radical social agenda.
Hours later, officials said the talks centered on spending cuts in the range of $38 billion to $40 billion. But they stressed there was no accord on either an overall total or the composition of the reductions.
Republicans and Democrats alike said the GOP appeared to be jettisoning a demand to block numerous Environmental Protection Agency regulations on polluters. A federal study of the likely economic impact of the agency's rules was one possible alternative under discussion, they added.
A Republican demand to make changes in a federal program that provides family planning services and women's health care met withering criticism from Democrats. Unexpectedly, several conservative Republican senators urged their counterparts in the House not to shut the government down over the issue.
For much of the day, Reid and Boehner disagreed about what the disagreement was about.
Reid said there had been an agreement at a White House meeting Thursday night to cut spending by about $38 billion as part of a bill to finance the government through the Sept. 30 end of the budget year.
He said Republicans also were demanding unspecified cuts in health services for lower income women that were unacceptable to Democrats.
"Republicans want to shut down our nation's government because they want to make it harder to get cancer screenings," he said. "They want to throw women under the bus."
Boehner said repeatedly that wasn't the case — it was spending cuts that divided two sides.
"Most of the policy issues have been dealt with, and the big fight is about spending," he said. "When will the White House and when will Senate Democrats get serious about cutting federal spending."

The battle has just begun though. This is bound for the Supreme Court eventually. Another federalism ruling that will be extremely influential to the political system. I'm very interested to see how the new court (with Kagan) determines if this law violates federalism in this country.

Yup..programs that are bankrupting the Federal Government, but not a single party wants to get rid of. Doesn't matter, we will all be immortal in 25 years.

Medicaire could be expanded to full coverage of every single american Adualt and child with minimal modification of the payment system and retain the full coverage. all medicair needs is some minor clean up of its administration.
Whats bankrupting us is the overt and exessive spending on the military. were spending more now then we did with inflation on WWI and II combined and were angaged in 2 ongoing civil wars and a third military intervention.
This is what brought down the soviet union in the 80s. We didnt beat them militarily we out spent them and forced the USSR to break itself financialy on its miliatry spending while its people went cold and hungry.
Its all about priorities we prioritze education, social safety nets, infrastructure and cleaning up waste and fraud while making sure that everyone including the rich and corporations pay their fair share of taxes and the nation will thrive and prosper.
Clinton raised taxes the economy boomed. 80% of americans agree that a tax increase on the upper 2% of richest americans is needed.

Absolutely! And our most economically prosperous time was when taxes on the wealthy and corporations was at it's highest. Can you just imagine how quickly we would get back to prosperity for all, lower unemployment, pay off all debts, raise the minimum wage, and make a surplus (something Clinton managed to do with just a 8% raise of taxes on the most wealthy)- if we merely taxed the wealthy and corporations like we did from 1951-1963! (anyone making over 400,000 a year- still less than 2% of the population, taxed at 91% of their income.) 93% of people earn 99,000 or less a year (87% 74,000 or less, 71% 49,000 or less, 35% 25,000 or less)
