That's exactly what I think too. Seriously, we do not need to drag the dirty pairing business over there. It's very disgusting. Honestly, if I were an author of a massive hit series like Naruto is, and I asked this sort of question to the readers and in the end getting pairing related stuff questions instead of questions about the main story, I'd be pissed.

And ciardha, I'd say no. I honestly doubt Kishi wants to hear any pairing related stuff in that considering how he's gotten tons of hate mail about it. No matter how you sugarcoat it, it's obvious Kishi would be able to see through it. Whether it's about NS, NH, or SS. I think Kishi would feel insulted if he thought his fans saw that his series all comes down to the pairings.

Yeah.... Well, dammit. I can see this going bad. I just hope too many NS fans don't go shouting there - if it's the NH fans, then hopefully Kishi wont take too much insult to it because theyr'e already.. well, sending him hatemail since years ago and maybe he's gotten used to it. It'd just be bad for the future-canon-pairing fans to give him hassle.

How exactly do you know that? Do you know enough Japanese language to read what it says or do you have a friend who knows Japanese and read what it said for you? I guess what I'm trying to say is, where do you get this information and what source did it come from?

There was a message beside the question on the survey that said that answers would be picked and put in a magazine. First of all, its uncertain whether ours would be looked at from the thousands of foreigners answering, and lastly they'll likely not pick any answer with a pairing mention but instead choose an answer that talks about the moral and values of Naruto to be shown in order to give the series good publicity.

I think its wiser to talk about what Naruto has taught you than the less significant pairing matters if you want your answer to be looked at.

If that's true, then Codus, there's your pairing stuff out the window. If they're putting something even hinting at Hinata still like Naruto on the movie posters, then the shipping wars will be on like donkey kong.

As for shipping and Kishi's opinions...um.... Isn't he the one who got this ball rolling? I seriously doubt any author would be unhappy with 'tons of mail,' negative or otherwise. In asking for responses or input, shipping is probably the number one thing people are going to talk about.

Anyway, Kishimoto created the pairing tension for a good reason. It adds another facet to the story which brings in and keeps the readers better than any other hook in the plot. (We all know Naruto is going to succeed, we just don't know how. However, Hinata, Sasuke, Sakura...it's still up in the air for your particular ship.)

Pairing generates interest, interest generates money. It's there for a reason. And as evidenced by the tons of mail, Kishimoto's hit his mark: there are plenty of people more interested in the pairing than fighting. And he's keeping both sides entertained by actively writing to both sides of his audience.

The guy who has tons of obstacles in front of him and breaking through them. He also dreams to fulfill: Hokage and World Peace. The story is about him achieving those dreams. That's what it's all about. Pairing stuffs are a bonus along for the ride.

If we so much as mention any pairing in that survey, that makes look like idiots unappreciative of Kishi's writing.

I apologize for bring up pairing stuff but.. this thought's been bugging me since the revelation that Hinata will still like Naru in this.

I hope Sakura fights for her man.
Think about it: Sasuke likes/wants-to-get-in-sakuras-pants in this, making Naruto to be: "HEY. That's my woman."
Now, what's Sakura got to do? If Hinata didn't like Naru in this, then she'd have no reason to go: "HEY. That's my man." But, this way... they both can find each other fighting for each other, here.

That's a big truth, the problem is that 70% of the people that take this survey are pairing tards, SS will be the manifestation fallow by NH.
SS by far is the biggest fan club and the are only vocal when given the chance.

Exactly. Instead of making our NS fanbase look like total idiots, we should hold back and let Kishi do his thing. That way, the NH & SS fans will be the one looking like total idiots themselves instead of us being lumped together in the same category.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. We're pretty level-headed here, even though this is a pairing forum. (I know the rest of the world is crazy, but hey, that's their own fault.) Anyone's opinions on the poll or survey or comment form are theirs. And they can probably fill it out as many times as they want. So it's not like it's really going to matter in the bigger picture.

On their end, they get some vital data out of it, and most importantly, draw in viewers form other sources. (Pageviews, twitter followers, etc.) All of those translate into revenue, either directly or indirectly. (Pageclicks generate ad money, twitter announcements lead to people buying dvds or getting on board new mangas just starting up, and so on.)

As for the pairing stuff, I hate to be continuing an argument, but their characters could have been filled out without the help of being Naruto's love interest. Like I said, the pairing tension is a way of ramping up the suspense in a plot. It's a plot device. No one's arguing about Naruto not being the main character. But for an author to keep readers hooked, nearly every week for 10+ years, he's going to have to use every trick in his bag. Pairing is one of those things.

This is the reason it won't be resolved until the end. Because if it was decided now, the tension would be over. Disgruntled parties would stop reading, and shipping winners would only be moderately interested in the outcome.

If NH and SS was to be finally confirmed, right now, a lot of the momentum behind Naruto's story would be lost. He would not turn out to be the character NSer's have thought him to be.

So there are a lot of reasons — big reasons — that the pairing stuff is an important part of the plot.

Don't worry about what people post in the survey. It doesn't make a bit of difference to us or to them. It's just something for fun. And profit. Sort of like a pyramid scheme.

That's why I said that we should get the pairing stuff out of the way and instead appreciate the series as a whole along with Kishi's efforts. I would like to think that he's happier when people mention something not pairing-related about his story.

Well, I did the survey and I only mention that I enjoyed his work a lot because its setting and stuff. The only vague part I said about NaruSaku is talking about Naruto overcoming the odds and making his dreams/goals come true. See what I did there.

But yeah, let's not degrade ourselves. I'm pretty sure Kishi knows exactly what's his doing. The more I see it, the more I believe NaruSaku is the true canon pairing and will happen in the end. But that's something for another discussion.

The movie trailer is going to be good. Seems like we get the flashback (or not) of Minato and Kushina and then, what appears in the last picture, Kushina possibly hugging Naruto (or Minato). I know Kishi will do the right thing. He's not going to tarnish his work.

Sounds arrogant to me Codus that you are sternly claiming that Kishimoto's feelings would be so horrendously offended if people said they loved the canon pairing development of Naruto and Sakura falling in love that is a core part of the storyline. He made the point in the very first image he drew of Team 7 in chapter 1's color illustration that Sakura's romantic development in her growing to love Naruto would be a key part of the story. He introduced naruto's feelings for Sakura right after his goal to become Hokage. Sorry, but Kishimoto made it clear he does like it by making it a core part of his plotline. He's also made a point multiple times to emphasis similar romantic development and have more than one adult character state that men should seek out women with personalities like Tsunade, Yoshino, Kushina and Sakura. Seems rather dismissive of a core part of Kishimoto's story. Kishimoto's actually said something that showed he was kind of hurt by dismissive comments about the romantic story in Naruto. Remember Naruto's goals also include his feelings for Sakura. I think Kishimoto would be terribly sad if hardly anyone commented on liking the key love story of Naruto- Naruto and Sakura. Kishimoto has put his heart and soul into that every bit as the journey to Hokage.

You are twisting the facts, Codus just meant that it would offensive to Kishimoto saying that we find pairings more important then the story as whole. And I think you are reading too much into things ciardha, because I think that if the romantic development of Naruto and Sakura was an core element of the manga, Kishimoto would have given it far more screentime for this couple then he actually did. Their real romantic moments are too few and apart from each other to call it an "core element". I'm not dismissing narusaku, but I think you are giving way too much glory for this pairing.
