Regarding protecting her he was pretty fast to act until now but kinda makes her the damsel in distress.

i don't know... I just want more out of the manga... I've been watching and reading more of part 1 and it's just so good, now days we get a lot very boring chapters...

I blame the war arc for this. Damsel in distress is not always bad, so long it's done right. When it's too typical, then fine. Otherwise, it gets my attention.

I don't find them boring. Regardless of any Sakura or NS development I still enjoy the manga but Kishi really left the mother of cliffhangers with Naruto and Obito facing off before the start of the flashbacks.

Well we assume that Senju's inheritance is the wood release because of Hashirama but what about the other Senju's where is there strength. Madara and Hashirama reached the peak of their specific inheritance and we know a lot of the sharingan. But regarding Senju we know to little. At the same time we don't know how similar the Uzumaki and Senju clans are regarding this inheritance. That's why I want to see a Madara - Hashirama fight again to see if there are some skills only Hashirama can use.

Yeah it would really help if we knew more about the Senju and Uzumaki clans.

I just don't want her to fully damsel, rather only last for like 1 chapter before getting back in combat. Much like how RtN did it, which is acceptable in my part. We just have to wait and see.

Won't feel like a damsel in distress if Naruto comes and saves her after she fights someone to the death, but unfortunately is outmatched. And yet it would be better for her if she didn't need a rescue.

Being a damsel in distress isn't bad as long as it's not overdone with it. Saving her than that just it, for me, I wouldn't like it that much. Plus, another one like the Kage Summit arc will be not good for her heroine status. Just being saved and Sakura back on her feet doing something whatever she might do isn't bad at all but is good.

Well, Phenix doesn't need me to speak for him, but I think you misunderstand what he's saying. My interpretation of his attitude is basically the same as mine. IF Sakura does not end up with any more power-ups or a big battles along the lines of the one with Sasori, that doesn't mean she isn't the heroine. More about this in the next part of the reply.



I think the important question is, does Naruto think she contributes enough to him and his quest? In my opinion, the answer is a resounding YES.

Naruto counts on Sakura to be where he needs her to be. In the Pain invasion she screamed for him, which was a direct reflection in her belief in him as the hero and her support for him. Once he was there she settled into doing her job -- doing what he would expect from her. He had asked people not to interfere with his work and she accepted his orders. Instead, she focused on doing her job. This is the role of a heroine -- to follow her OWN path in the pursuit of moral excellence and show solidarity with the goals of the hero.

Hinata did not do this during the Pain invasion, and in fact did the exact opposite. She not only interfered against Naruto's wishes, but she displayed a distinct lack of belief in his ability to handle the situation. Likewise, she did nothing for the village. Instead of doing her job, and pursuing the goals Naruto would have wished, she is selfish.

Sakura has continued along this track. During the current war arc, she is doing her job. Naruto counts on her to do her job, and to be where he expects and needs her to be. Naruto's order for Sakura to heal Kakashi first, and her quick understanding of his order and his reasoning, proves that she is in tune with him. Naruto already knows Sakura is brave, kick-ass, dependable, and that she believes in him. You can't get more useful or supportive for the hero than that.

The fact that Hinata's first moment of heroism happened to interact with Naruto in a personally supportive way is not a big deal. Sakura has done it for him in the past. So has Iruka. Jiraiya. Minato. Kushina. Shikamaru. Gaara. It was Hinata's turn, that's all.

As for the fact that Hinata knocked Naruto's shoulder back in place, I've commented on that before. Obvious panel was obvious. I believe Kishimoto showed us that specifically to draw everyone's attention to the fact that Sakura WAS NOT THERE TO DO IT. We haven't found out why yet, but I believe there is a reason.

I certainly do not think it was to show that in the space of a few chapters, Hinata has displaced Sakura as Naruto's love, teammate, and trusted comrade.



We'll have to agree to disagree. Sure, it might have been nice, but it wasn't critical. It was more important, I think, to give Hinata her development and then let her retake her place on the sidelines. We'll see if that ends up being the case.

Bolded: On that, I agree. But keep in mind that I also said does she contribute enough to the story or not?? judging by the looks of it so far, NO. The only real contribution she ever did in moving the plot forwards without any relation to Naruto and Sasuke was when she corked info out of Sasori.

And Troll!Baguette did bring up a good point about Hinata's faith in Naruto. Remember when Naruto said he wasn't a Zetsu clone after he saved her and Hinata believed in him?? isn't that also a showing of her faith in him??

I can understand about her role being to heal. But like I asked, did it contribute to the plot?? NO. Keep in mind that the way Kishimoto has structured this story, the story hinges on being character-driven by Naruto. Thus, for her to affect and contribute to the plot, she needs to affect Naruto himself. And I don't mean in a romantic sense. It could be something with a friendship tone for it, and it still would solidify her role as the heroine. While it has shades of romance in it, it nevertheless develops Sakura independently into a trusted adviser/partner Naruto can count on.

Lastly, I agree with what Kirabook says:

I'm worried about the quality of his heroine. She's the heroine, she he should write her like one. Other characters got important moments, but they never truly made a main characters accomplishments a laughing stock.

Hinata's moment does not equate to all of Sakura's past accomplishments, but I just wonder what is Kishi thinking. Why would you give Hinata that type of accomplishment at THAT moment. Why even create a situation where readers would question who the heroine is even after you confirm it yourself. That says to me that he's not being consistent. If there's this much unrest within the community over something as simple as 'who is the main heroine, he's just not being consistent. If you aren't consistent, then I think that means the quality is not where it needs to be.

But even now, I wonder... maybe Kishi has been consistent for a while. Other than the Gaara arc, it seems Sakura doesn't get any attention unless it's about Sasuke. Maybe Kishi began moving her to the background before more recent events and we didn't notice until it became glaringly obvious. If he was surprised about the reaction to Sakura's confession, maybe he really doesn't know how to write a heroine. I mean, he does, what Hinata did was very heroine like moment, obviously. So I'm guessing Sakura is only meant to be involved when Sasuke/team 7 is involved.

That is precisely what I think of Sakura's development.

BTW Kira, No. DEFINITELY NOT. I do NOT WANT her to be involved only when Sasuke comes into the picture. Can't she not be involved in the plot without her boys in the picture for ONCE.

True. But then there's something else. Did you think Minato wouldn't have accounted for the possibility "Madara" would try to rip out Kurama?? Yes, the seal's been released. But Minato's intent for sealing Kurama was so that he and Naruto could fight "Madara" together and protect the world.
