I wish I could be at one of the cinemas in Japan and yell "BOOOO" all the times that Hinata appears on the screen. But then I would lose my voice, cause she's the kittenin MC of this. One of the most non-important and side characters from the series suddenly appears as MC. I just can't understand the magnitude of such kitten. I'm just... so, SO done with this series. Just waiting for it to release to get some laughs, and then I'm kittenin out.

Honestly, I think the marketing dept decided to target girls instead of boys so they bumped up Hinata who looks the most Japanese of the whole manga. They can double dip the action and romance markets, and they can essentially restart with a new series from the movie.
 
They are trying to pick up a whole new audience from the movie, ones that are not manga-readers but will come for the romance. The message being sent with the 15-page promo and all the hard-sell NH advertising is that you don't need to read the manga to be involved in Naruto. The movie is the starting point for the new series and whatever's to come. That's why they are encouraging people to not look too deeply into what has come before. 
 
I think they're trying to target a female audience and now they've given Naruto a female lead that looks more like a normal Japanese girl than anyone else in the manga. I think they've made her the face of the who they want to attract. And I seriously thing they're hoping the next gen series will take off with a new audience, and they can reboot the whole franchise for another 10+ years.
 
Naruto is a business, above everything else. So the decision to replace Sakura with HInata wasn't over pairing, it was over money.
 
Sad. In the end it's completely against what Naruto the character is about.

Oh trust me, in NYC, we will boo the kitten out of this. I am one of the few that experienced Pokemon the First Movie and man, it feels like I was in a wrestling match with Hogan turning heel to become NWO.

This movie probably isn't going to be a success. Kishi's betrayed too many of his fans. You've got the non-shipping fandoms who don't give a crap about romance and who have read the manga, who will be disappointed by how contradictory this story is. You've got the NS shippers, who got screwed over badly. You've got SK/SN and Sasuke fans in general who are not going to be happy about Sasukes... "cameo" and you've got SS fans who are absolutely furious. So, Kishi decides to cast aside the most popular ships SS/SN/NS for NH which isn't as popular as the others in Japan.

 

Hopefully, Japanese fans will stand up and reject the movie by voting with their wallets.

You mean Chapter 699.5 aka Naruto the Last? Well it was a splendidly romantic movie. :) [NOTE: I was referring to the extra chapter in the guidebook]

 

 

I heard that the second preview event on the same day was a repeat of the first and that all the full screenings took place in different cities?

 

There were 2 screenings in Tokyo at the Iino Hall. I attended the 2nd one and yes there were screenings in other cities as well.

 

 

Was Toneri a Jinchuriki?

Is it true Sasuke only appears 20 seconds in the movie?

 

When Sasuke's scene was shown I slowed it down in my mind just to extend it. lol

While this movie definitely won't bomb as we hope it would, I think that someday in the future people will remember this movie as pure fanservice. No NaruHina fan can tell me that this movie is good.

This movie, if like the "spoilers", is seriously nothing but garbage. Going to hold out till Dec 6 but if it turns out like this, I seriously won't care anymore. I'm glad there would be no SS and I'm glad that this wouldn't be canon. But applesauceful you say, it is canon. Something that contradicts the manga, isn't canon, no matter how many ways you want to swing it.

All they have on their side is themselves and Hinata fans. I don't think the movie will flop, but nobody but them will care much about it.

I think it's safe to say we won this. All the asspulling that had to be done in order to bring us NH/SS, heck even a movie had to be made just so that they could "comfortably" contradict the entire manga. This is what happens when you take NS away, everything else comes tumbling down.

That one weird side character from part 1 managed to destroy the entire series. Wow! "We have never seen anything like this before and we will never see anything like this again."

But before that, the NaruSaku fans will long have left this ridiculous drama. We were the first ones after all to voice our displeasure with this movie - for obvious reasons.

We can just sit back and enjoy how SP, Kishi, the NaruHina fans, and Hinata fans have to fight everyone else but us.

I guess many people are asking the same question: why couldn't they make it a NS romance movie? They wouldn't have to contradict/destroy the original manga and I guess general fandom would stomach NS ending way better than this Hyuuga wank fest. They had to totally destroy Sakura's development / Naruto's character to make SS canon and this pairing is nonexistent in the movie. All Kishi had to do is make Sakura move on... her moving on would be x1000 times more believable than Naruto suddenly becoming Hinata's brainless fanboy. This finale is so unnatural and insane that a sane person's brain will deny to even try processing this info.
