I think the reason a lot of people are reacting so much is that for the majority of part 2, the focus was all NaruxSaku and little to 0 mention of Hinata. Then all of a sudden Hinata gets 2 moments of spotlight and some people blow everything out of proportion by saying things like there have been no naruxsaku moments or Sakura does not love Naruto despite Kishi's interview. To me, it looks like NaruxSaku still has a Big lead over NaruxHina and Hinata is not as much of a threat as people think she is.

Well there will always be the ones who will exaggerate everything and consider a closed deal the entire hand holding thing between Naruto and Hinata.

But then again the NS shippers are also Sakura fans and if we make a small review of what was discussed this past few days there are some who consider Sakura's involvement to be on an emotional side while others want to see Sakura kick some ass.

Problem is that during this entire War arc Sakura didn't really do anything in both departments, her only moments of note were the ones in chapter 540 ( where she thought of only Sasuke albeit not in a good light) the Zetsu-Neji clone and the small monologue she had in her mind when all the army decided to reinforce Naruto's position.

The War arc lasted in Real life for a pretty long time and yet only this moments, small compared to the others around her.

And there's another problem. The way Naruto progressed she currently doesn't really have anything to bring to the table for him.

• She tried to fix the POAL with Naruto and determine him to stop looking for Sasuke but Naruto was adamant in his quest to redeem Sasuke.
• She also failed when trying to take matters in her own hands.

Even on the love or support department she lacked a lot. Especially because Naruto as a Jinchuuriki needed love to control the negative emotions of Kurama yet....

• When Naruto went 8 tails Minato stepped in and supressed the Kyuubi.
• Naruto supressed his own darkness all by himself
• Afterwards Naruto went to obtain Kurama's power this time saved by Kushina
• And lastly he managed to also let Kurama let go of all his hatred

Yet there is only one thing she can do in this arc, albeit a small one, but pretty significant and that is for her not to die. Now the 616-617 chapters would give reason for some to downplay an eventual death for her but one can not compare the death of a comrade to the death of a loved one. Also the fact that Naruto resembles Obito in many ways and Obito's fall into madness was caused by the death of loved one, I don't really see how someone would be able to help Naruto out of any feelings he will experience if Sakura would die.

Besides Minato had Kushina by his side just like Naruto has Hinata by his side.
Hinata = Kushina

It may have been intimate at least from Hinata's perspective but that's not how it looked from Naruto's perspective. And Naruto's perspective matters the most because he's the protagonist so nope don't see a romantic moment there but Hinata character development done through Neji's sacrifice.

Look, 615 was the chance to establish Naruto's pov, but again, it's the side characters doing the talking since this volume was dedicated to them, based off Neji's sudden death. Naruto came with the resolution of friendship, which oddly enough ended the volume. That part of chapter ends, so what's next. We don't know but it will be crucial. That said 616 was a big opportunities to establish them as the true lover, but there was none. No Naruto's pov, no showing the "awesomeness" of NH, just another chapter that furthers Naruto learning about being connected with all, life and death. 616 was the opportunity was the opportunity to make any justification of NH, but there wasn't. For all we need, Naruto's mind could be, "Hinata, she's just being friendly. Besides, Sakura-chan is the best." Again, all of their developments always happen when they're in a necessary to develop Hinata. When it's NS, it's normal daily life. Is it even necessary to show us that Sakura was going to feed Naruto? No, not really. So why then?

A relationship is based on daily and comum talks and events. That's the difference between nh\ss and ns. It's not that those pairings are impossible to happen, but they had to develop. Kishi seems to like relantionships with development, not only romantically, but about friendship too. About this aspect, ns is the most probably to happen. That's why I like the comparison with minakushi, both has development.

Kishimoto may have initially intended to parallel Sakura and Kushina, but in recent chapters it has become quite apparent that the parallel has been switched over to Hinata and Kushina.
The parallel lies not in superficial things such as the characters' looks and personality, but rather in their symbolic significance and love for Naruto.
Hinata jumped in front of Naruto to protect him from being killed by a Tailed Beast, just what happened with Kushina. And before you retort with "so I guess that means NejiHina parallels MinaKushi," think of it beyond mere character roles.
Kushina said to Naruto to find someone like her, in that she wanted him to find someone who would love him just as much as she did. Hinata proved that she was like Kushina in that her love for Naruto enabled her to try and sacrifice herself for Naruto, in the same manner that Kushina did.

Even in superficial terms, it should be noted that both Kushina and Hinata were kidnapped by ninjas from Kumogakure.

Sorry, still not following the Hinata to Kushina thing. If they truly are paralleled than even kishi himself must not notice it, or he is trolling way too hard. In the normal universe AND the alternate (RTN) Sakura is to Kushina, way more than Hinata.

Also I have no doubts in my mind that Sakura cares for Naruto's safety on an equal or greater way as Hinata.
