Rurouni Kenshin romance was not truly depicted until the OVAs, and even still the mangaka admitted he was afraid to dive more into the romance but considering it was a Shonen he feared the audience would not take well to it.

 

YYH was direct, we weren't given multiple love interests like the level of Naruto.

Naruto romance suffers from stereotypical female characters, if any thing.  Notice how most are not complaining about the build up in between Naruto and Sakura, but rather how she apparently still loves Sasuke. 

 

If Kishimoto, like with the mangaka of Rurouni Kenshin, is being limited because it is a shonen, we can expect things dealing with romance to suffer.  If the main focus is action, we cannot expect romance, even when he attempts to introduce, to be fully fleshed out.  It's as simple as that.

 Nah. There were several moments where there romance was implied. In the first couple chapters he nearly broke his vow to not kill anyone for her. Than she got jealous of the vixen girl when they went up against the rich arms dealer and the vixen flirted with Kenshin. Chapter's 57 and 105 pretty much spell it out by that point. Read the manga.

Bc most of the build up is fine. Except that there are still complaints about it. Mainly why did Sakura think of Sasuke in 540 and not Naruto? Why did she smack him for calling her his girlfriend? and if we have so much build up why has she never thought of him romantically at this point?

 

But you're focusing only on NS which is just one portion of the romance. Their is also SS and NH which are flawed at best. One ranges on abuse and the other could be considered hero worship. very romantic indeed.

Where are these so-called limits affecting him exactly? Why didn't they stop him from devoting whole chapters to romance, even whole character arcs? If there are even limits on writing romance in shonen (which there aren't) why do we have whole manga dedicated to romance such as Love Hina and School Rumble?

 

Bear in mind when I say limits I mean how much you can flesh out and develop a romance. Not sex, blood, and violence limits. That makes the difference between a shonen and a Seinen. There are plenty of well developed romances in shonen. 

 

The only real limits are what the author is willing to take risks in. There's nudity in shonen, blood in shonen, and romance in shonen. 

 

Kishi has NO EXCUSE. He introduced romance into his Manga ever since Chapter 3 and made it a focal point of his characters. He must deliver on this.

It's shocking that u said it James!!

Why? I am only speaking the truth. All these "spoilers"...all these..."sources." Even if they are real and the spoiler is credible, it makes no sense context wise. Nothing does. I can't wrap my head around it.

Sometimes I see information and I think: "This can't be right. This doesn't sound like Kishimoto's writing." When people keep describing the last two chapters and the movie, it doesn't even feel like it follows the Naruto story at all. The characters are apparently OOC, they seem so described as changing with the flip of a switch, and the story dynamics are awful. There is even elements that doesn't really fit into the story yet we are supposed to believe it is apart of it.

My biggest issue is still this new "Nh flashback" that never existed before at all and only now gets mentioned in the movie, but Kishimoto can't bring up Chapter 3 in all this time and have Sakura figure out that was Naruto and not Sasuke? Come on. That is ridiculous. You mean to tell me that Sakura could figure out that a White Zetsu was disguised as Neji, but apparently when Naruto disguises as Sasuke she is completely fooled? Granted, this was in the beginning, but it amazes me how we are on the final two chapters and that chapter still hasn't been brought up.

If that moment doesn't make some kind of appearance in the last two chapters and Sakura never figures out that that wasn't Sasuke who did that...then I call BS and drop the manga out the window. There is no excuse, especially when Kishi has covered every flashback several times, but that one.
