We also saw the anime version of what happened to Lisanna. It was slightly sad, she was a sweet girl too. I hate when those type of characters die.

But all for the progression oft he story, I suppose.

Fairy Tail Chapter 179

I have to say, for the most part I really hadn't been feeling this arc. It wasn't the typical evil guys taking over the world, then Natsu and Co come and kick the crap out of them. But I have to say it's really starting to grow on me.

This arc has many different levels where things are going operating on.

We have the fact this is a completely opposite world to the one we're used to.

We have the fact that Natsu has no magic, so he can't do his usual Naruto/Goku thing and save the day for everyone...yet. Instead we have Lucy, who usually is a side/supporting character being the main guns of the offense. In fact he's captured, going out of his mind because he can't do anything.

We get the backstory to Happy and Charle's existence, which is this complete world of chaos we're reading about right now.

Not to mention, this chapter we have this human vs. Exceed rebellion.

I know that Mashima, doesn't have many major titles under his belt, but damn dude is really putting in work with this manga. My hat's off to him.

This chapter also exceeds to have one of the best fight intros, with the entrance of Erza and Gray. Talk about right on point. I actually gave a shout out loud when I got to the page.

We seen all kinds of new plots open up from King's real plan of luring the Extalia in for turning them into lacrima. (I kind of knew the guy was real power hungry to begin with but this was still unexpected) The tiger guard looks pissed off so he could join the rebellion and I also saw some staffs in a pot that resembled Mystogan's (Gerard from Edora's I think he is). The biggest cliffhanger is seeing my favorite Erza Scarlet and Gray somehow escape the lacrima crystal. Erza vs. Erza, I'm always rooting for Erza Scarlet and not the crazy Knightwalker. They also seem to have their magic as well.

Mashima please keep up the good work.

I'm still hoping that everything goes back to normal Natsu can finally get back to his own personal quest of finding Igneel. It almost feels like Makarov has been holding Natsu back on going on his quest for some reason otherwise he would of left right away when Gildart's mentioned he found a dragon in the mountains.

Well Wendy makes a great point, why did Natsu get so enraged over Lucy and not Happy or Charle? Aren't all three of them his nakamas?

I think Wendy was actually talking to the Prisongaurd asking him why only Lucy was being executed and not Happy and Charle. Not to Natsu about his reaction to Lucy.

I personally like both pairing, Natsu/Lucy and Natsu/Erza, but prefer Erza/Natsu from the two, When Natsu rescued Erza when she was planning to sacrifice herself, that was pretty awesome.

I like how even though Natsu is probably the main charactor, everyone including Happy have got their own arc, that explains their past and how they got their, a bit like in One Peice only the main charactors were pretty much introduced from the beginning,

Didn't realise this weeks chapter was out...um...wff? I think they might be moving things a bit too fast, one second we get one revelation and then another and now we get two more this week...what exactly is going on?

One thing I don't understand is how come Erze's charactors are both so similar, only real difference I see is where their loyalty lies. I was initially expecting a fluffy extremely girly and soft Erza.

I admit their were a few lack luster chapters but i think the arc itself has been great. It was necessary to show Charlie and Happy's arc Imo.

We've had Grey, Lucy, Erza, Happy, and hopefully next will be Natsu's turn going on his personal quest and solving his past. I can't hardly wait till he does go on it, I actually want him to solo this out and it will create an opportunity to hopefully see were Erza's heart lyes with. She seems to be able to hold up fine without Gerard but i wonder what she would be like if Natsu was gone.

Well, it's not an exact phrasing but it was alluding that she was getting around to saying it.

Also I to point out that, even though it's an Extra/special chapter, I think Natsu/Lucy is going to be canon. Especially the little blurb in the last panel of the last page.
