GaiTsume. The mind boggles. laugh.gif

That's fair enough. Hell, I don't like what I did and you do bring up another point; this is a NaruSaku fansite. Even if I thought I was writing the Bible (not even close) and thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread (um, no) I should always keep the audience in mind.

At least something good came out of this, I learned a few things. And I think I worked that stuff out of my system, so I shouldn't put out anything quite like that for a bit. Gray-ish maybe, but not black. smile.gif

Thanks again, Ciardha.

That would be the ultimate irony for in my mind, the guy hundreds of girls chased turns out gay and ends up falling in love with his homophobic best friend.

It seems Kish isn't afraid to walk the boundaries of all the sexual orientations. There was Haku who looked like a girl, Sasuke who seems A-sexual or gay, Sai who seems gay, or highly oblivious as well as that one chapter with the Yaoi SasuSai and Yuri girls...

Don't forget Konohamaru's "Yaoi Oiroke no Jutsu." Or Deidara... I have to wonder though just how much of all that is necessary. There's a cynical part of me that wonders if the overload of sexual ambiguousness is pandering to a fangirl base? It's not uncommon for some manga to be influenced by its fanbase; IIRC, Negima used to run polls asking for its fans' favorite characters, presumably so they could get more air time and thus sell more copies.

I just don't like seeing too much ambiguity and Yaoi-ish overtones, not without a reason. Yes, even on an overload of Yuri no matter how much I might like the thought.

NINJA EDIT FTL: Man, I seem to doing that a lot lately. Anyway, I had a good idea for Gate but there's no way I'll be able to chop, slice, dice, and/or julienne it down to 100 words. I guess it'll be an extra drabble when I write that one. Incidentally, what ISN'T a good color for Sakura to wear? I'm a guy, I don't know these things very well. sad.gif
And does anyone actually 'julienne' anything nowadays when cutting stuff?

Well it's understandable for there to be a good deal of gay/lesbian people in the Naruverse but I think we just tented to notice those who come in contact with Naruto because he, himself is a very strait person from what I can see. He likes Sakura, tried to peek on her in the hot spring, loved Konohamaru's Jutsu and seems frighted of gay people. This contrast could be causing them seem more than what they normally would be.

Also Itachi has painted nails... just remembered...

There has to be a small level of fan service, either cautiously written by Kish or not. When he does do fan service, like the SasuSai scene, he adds some facts about it. Like how Sakura is a pervert in denial and thus is even closer to Naruto than we thought before.

Well, this one came out fast even though I've had the idea for weeks. See what happens you start writing?
Yes, this one is much lighter in tone.

P is for Peas. Naruto really should've figured this out himself.

3-year old Mirei glared at her tormentor. “Don’ wanna!”
“Mirei-chan, take a bite for daddy,” begged Naruto desperately. In response Mirei took careful aim and fired.
Uzumaki Sakura entered the kitchen to the sight of her husband the Rokudaime, the Kyuubi no Yoko’s Jinchuuriki, and one of the most powerful men in the Elemental Countries helplessly quivering before the constant vegetable barrage. “Sakura-chan, help?”
Sighing she took Mirei’s lunch to the counter, bringing it back minutes later. Chirping “’tatamas,” Mirei happily dug in. Naruto stared at the now orange-colored peas before looking at Sakura.
Sakura shrugged. “What? She’s YOUR daughter.”

That's supposed to be Itadakimasu little Mirei is saying BTW, but she IS only 3.

So it took me a few days to hammer the concept out in my head. I told you I think too much on these drabbles sometimes.

G is for Gate. As a person grows, his dreams change.

As a genin Naruto loved standing before the massive gates of Konoha. Leaving the village on missions the gates were a doorway, the beginning of another step on the path to Hokage. Returning, the sight of them brought certainty that Naruto inched closer to his dream.
As a jounin he passes them without a second glance. Other dreams await.
He heads for a simple white arch flanked by cherry blossoms instead. While pleasant, the gate’s appearance doesn’t attract Naruto. The woman there brushing back a lock of pink hair does.
Her smile is the world to him. “Welcome home, Naruto.”
~~~~~
I actually intended for the village gates to represent Naruto's childhood hopes of getting to do cool kick-ass exciting things on his missions and contrast it with the plain-gate calm "Tadaima/Okaeri Nasai" that he now has (not that he's complaining). I don't think I did it as well as I wanted but 100-word drabbles don't lend themselves well to evocative description, I've noticed.
Did he give up on being Hokage? Umm....I'll let you decide. wink.gif
If/when I ever get around to writing B/Blanket then I'll start putting these up on FFN.
Um, warning you now. This comes from the land of Cracky McCrackerson and his Crackerly inbred family. Yes, it is Delicious Crack (and you must read it). I'm not quite sure how it got there....
Oh, and drinking/eating/breathing while reading this is probably a bad idea. Just saying.
B is for Blanket. It was Sakura's fault but she'd die before admitting it. -or- This one's for you, Hokuten.
Sakura donned the blanket while letting her clothes dry. When they dried, Naruto handed them to her.
She reached for them. The blanket slipped. Naruto’s nose bled.
It bled more after getting walloped halfway across Konoha. Embarrassed, Sakura dressed and stormed off, forgetting the panties that managed to land on unconscious Naruto’s head.
Since then Naruto’s fighting style changed. Drastically.
----------
“My turn, dattebayo!” Naruto cried. Sakura groaned, hiding her face. Oh Kami-sama….
Whatever the shocked missing-nin expected it wasn’t Naruto putting panties on his head and dropping trousers while screaming “Kage Bunshin!”
It definitely wasn’t what came next.
“BULLET TRAINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
~~~~~
Yes it's a Naruto/Hentai Kamen crossover. To my knowledge the first (and hopefully last) of its kind. And as for NaruSaku moments... well, she DID cause him to learn it.

Here's a link if you're unfamiliar with Hentai Kamen: http://www.mangadown...a=series&sid=39

Think I'm almost done... then I can finally let this thread fade away properly.

N is for New. She finally realized Naruto was right all along...

Their first kiss was quiet and slow, words not normally associated with Naruto. But since Sakura unexpectedly initiated it after he walked her home, the stunned jinchuuriki didn’t have much say in it. After it was over she pulled back but didn’t let go of him.
“N-not that I’m complaining, Sakura-chan,” stammered Naruto, “but where did this come from all of a sudden?”
“There’s nothing sudden or new about this,” Sakura murmured. She placed another kiss, quick and impish this time, on his lips. “My feelings have always been there, it just took me a long time to realize it.”

...they were meant to be together.

Five more to go. Edited to clean up some word choices.

Four left.

R is for Ring. So what does the Strawberry-flavored version have?

“When you promised a ramen-free breakfast in bed ‘Shinobi Crunch’ wasn’t what I had in mind.”
“It’s a nutritious cereal!” Naruto lifted the box proudly proclaiming ‘Packed with 13 Essential Vitamins!’ “I’ll even pour for you, Sakura-chan.”
He stopped when something heavier than sweetened wheat puffs fell. Puzzled, Sakura looked down.
A small velvet box sat in the bowl. Trembling, she opened it to find a simple golden ring inside.
Naruto fidgeted nervously. “I, uh, thought you’d like this better than the toy kunai.” Sakura responded with a squeal, hugging her new fiancé and spilling chocolate shuriken over the sheets.

Ramen is the obvious choice, but it wouldn't have worked so well.

You see, this is what happens when you wake up at 3 in the morning for no good reason. Getting the drabble out is good and all, but it wanted to be right in the middle of that little drabble arc I'd finished before. Sigh. Guess I have some editing to do now.

For reference, here is the order they belong in:

Q is for Question
Y is for Yes
W is for Whirlpool
O is for Obligation
L is for Light

If you've read the others before, (all 4 of you?) I have edited/will edit the last two slightly. Can't leave bad enough alone I guess. The others are on page 6 of this thread and in the library.

Oh, right. The actual drabble.

W is for Whirlpool. Part 3 of 4 5. In your downward spiral you cling to what's important.

It was months (years?) since the Godaime sent her to find Naruto – unofficially.
Tsunade thought Sakura could persuade Naruto to return and abandon Sasuke.
Tsunade didn’t know she’d already failed; the Hokage didn’t know about the bridge.
Now she’d finally found them. In the distance, Sakura sensed massive amounts of demonic and cursed chakra followed by huge explosions to match.
Her body moved towards them automatically while her mind veered between hope, worry, and despair. Through the maelstrom of emotions one thought remained constant; one Sakura held tightly to, trying to keep from drowning.
Be well Naruto. Please be safe.

Maybe one day I'll rewrite it all into an actual fic, but I wouldn't hold my breath. And 3 more until I let this thread go.

Edited to correct the page number.

...hope I spelled it right!

X is for Xeranthemum. N'oubliez jamais.

Infused with his chakra, the cherry blossom tree and the bright flowers never wilted. While the tree was an obvious connection to Sakura-chan, the Xeranthemums weren’t unless you knew their meaning.
Eternity. Never-fading remembrance.
Naruto’s regeneration saved him repeatedly but also halted his aging. He still looked twenty-five. It was over 250 years since he had happily settled down with his Sakura-chan. When she passed on, her only regret was not having children. Naruto was secretly torn between sadness and relief. (After all, outliving your children sucks.)
With his eternal garden he kept Sakura-chan’s memory alive. He would never forget.

Let's just say I don't agree with Kishimoto's concept of what regeneration can and can't do. Two more to go.

I do, Nes Mikel writes some great stories. As far as the drabble goes, it's just what popped into my head. I do keep an open mind about a lot of things so it's not like that's exactly how I think Naruto's regeneration works, but the "Naruto can't use Rasen-Shuriken because it will kill him" bit? Don't like that at all.

I was pretty stumped as to what I wanted to do for this prompt until a reviewer on FFN mentioned something.

T is for Tender. Not getting much help from them, Naruto.

The thin veil couldn’t hide her brilliant jade eyes, or the tender smile directed at him. Naruto looked nervously over her shoulder at Sakura’s maid-of-honor. Her kindhearted glare clearly said, Hurt her and die. Oh Ino, always the compassionate one.
Kami-sama, his legs were threatening to collapse again. Naruto’s best man leaned forward to offer sensitive words of encouragement. “Stay upright, dobe, or I’ll never let you live this down.”
The priest finally spoke the words that fulfilled a dream much better than becoming Hokage. Who knew achieving it would be so nerve-wracking?
“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today….”
