I'm going to talk about types across fandoms rather than specifics. I like romantic pairings stories but only of canon pairings that I like. I can tolerate supporting couples not being a pairing I like, but it kind of throws off my enjoyment of a fic, particularly if it's an non canon pairing. I don't like character bashing (except for the major villians of the story- in Naruto that would be: Orochimaru, Itachi, the Akatsuki, the Sand trio's father) even for characters I don't care for that much that happen to be on the good guys side.

I primarly read romantic adventure/drama but I also like a bit of humor. Ratings wise I gravitate to the M rating but don't like lemon style, give me a good set of shoujo manga type lovemaking scenes and you have me hooked (especially if the rest of the story is also well written with a lot of character development and romance.) I like long stories where most people eventually pair off and have kids of their own. As Kishimoto had Kakashi say in the latest chapter, the generations give way to the next one... I like to see characters grow up and deal with adult responsibilities and how does that change them, watch middle aged characters grow old and how they deal with that, etc...

I came up on a very interesting story, not my favorite, just piqued my interest. Deals with Naruto and Kyuubi, how Kyuubi comes out of his seal. It's Naru/Hina fic called

i like long fics... sometimes a little heartbreak (which gets fixed of course) mostly romance with decent action scenes, im actually thinking of making a few fics but im nervous im gonna mess something up, :shamefulcry0js: i should probably just a short 1, maybe a one-shot to see how it goes.... but im still nervous! :shamefulcry0js: im more of a reader then a writer anyway so if anyone is looking for ideas feel free to ask and if i dont forget where this thread is i will respond (i think i might be getting a little too devoted to narusaku... most of my ideas have narusaku in em)

I like alot of fics that feel they could actually be cannon or if not cannon at least where the characters are not totally out of character. When it comes to romantic pairings I usually like pairings that fit with the Manga and such. I don't much care for NaruIno though I am currently reading two of those that are not bad. One is I believe The Gambit which the author has said is not gonna be NaruIno, but so far their set up for NaruIno is great. The other is Nothing is Ok which is slightly disturbing and I think the Author said will end up as a threesome NaruInoSaku. When it comes to Lemon I like it to be pretty natural. I don't wanna read a story where Naruto hooks up with Hinata only to find out she is really a Dominatrix in her spare time. I also like longer fics as long as the story remains interesting and fresh. Like Desaix's Training for the Job. That is the first FanFic I have ever read and it is what brought me to this site. Also for as long as it is I read it in about two days.

I don't really have any all time favourite fic I can think about, but I can tell you what it takes for me to absolutely love a story.

1. Grammar. It doesn't have to be perfect, but not so bad that it hurts the story.
2. Names. The names of all main characters needs to be spelled right, or else it would just piss me off. Tsunande? Bah!
3. Original plot. You can follow the canon plotline, but try to deviate from it from time to time, make it original and fresh.
4. Pairing: Anything that's not yaoi or NaruHina (I hate NaruHina with a passion.. it just bores me no mather what). I like rare pairings like NaruKin, NaruFemKyuu, NaruFemHaku, NaruKure, NaruAnko... basically anything that's not 90% of all NaruX. I like a good NaruOC as well, if the OC is written well.
5. Don't overdo fights and lemons, because that ruins the story for me. Ten pages of nonstop fighting with one opponent is eight to many. As for lemons, It has to be written well to implement some sort of mood, not be a sexual fantasy right out of the mind of a horny fourteen year old.

If I had to pick a story to be my current favourite, it would be Dragon6's Mizukage. Even without a pairing, that story is just brilliant. The only story I've read through more times than this one is Desaix' Training for the Job.

I have to say the lemon in Training was well done, and the lemon in Naruto Hands of Destiny was probably one of my favorites because it wasn't too over the top, and in the end it served a purpose for the overall plot of the story.

I just found a really good NarutoxSlayers crossover fic, written by Irrational Pi. Not a real fan of crossovers since many of them are overdone but this one was excellent. A Different Voice
It starts out a bit too strongly, but you could actually see the improvement in the story and in his writing.
