While to me I though the movie was great it did have its problem serious problems... But also keep in mind there is a directors cut coming out on July 16. Plus when it comes to Zach Snyder his directors cut usually end being superior then the theaterical cut. A good example is the theaterical cut of Watchmen and the directors cut and there's a big difference there and the directors cut was made that movie better. Also according to him 30 minutes of Batman v Superman were cut because the studio wanted it to be under 3 hrs cause it would've been too long according to them. Which is partially the reason why the movie didn't turn out to be as good as everybody had hoped.
One of the deleted scenes was actually leaked already and it definitely explains a bit...

Of course it made a lot of money, the title of the movie contains the most popular and known names on this planet. Batman and Superman.
It could've been the worst movie in existence and it still would've a financial success.
Which I've told you - time and time again - is dangerous! There will never be consensus, son, among those you have helped to ascend. They will all differ in their views of what it means to be free. The peace you so desperately seek does not exist.
These men are united now by a common cause. But when this battle is finished they will fall to fighting amongst themselves about how best to ensure control. In time it will lead to war. You will see.

You know what annoys me the most, the fact that people say this movie is great because it made money. And now because it made so much, the critics are wrong. I swear sometimes people are so stupid.

When people say such things, immediately point them towards Avatar...or, assuming they're not NH/SS/pro-end extremists, The Last, lol. BvS made a lot of immediate money, as you said, due to their names along with the hype built up through the trailers. I wouldn't be surprised if it quickly starts tapering off over the coming weeks after more people have seen it and spread word about how, while not a total bomb of a movie, it's nowhere near the greatness people expected.
I've been seeing similar styles of arguments on YouTube when it comes to ScrewAttack's DEATH BATTLE! show between Red/Charizard and Tai/Agumon - that Charizard "should have won" (or even that Pokemon in general are more powerful than Digimon) simply because Pokemon is the more popular franchise and makes more money compared to Digimon, ignoring pretty much any other reasoning presented against them.
Or look at (early) Yu-Gi-Oh! cards where a bunch of more expensive cards aren't always big tournament winning practical cards but rather cards that are simply popularized due to the anime/manga or just their general rarity status in the OCG/TCG itself like a MRD 1st Edition Gate Guardian used to cost $80+ while a LOB 1st Edition Red-Eyes B. Dragon could go for $100+. Even the unusable God Cards went for high prices due to their status in the anime/manga.
Basically, as we know, money does not equal quality/better/stronger/etc.

What actually surprised me is such an argument also came from a family member of mine who knows a lot more about movies than I do. I was shocked.

Huh. Really now? Cause I could say I liked the movie alot but I wouldn't call it great at all even if it's raking in the dough. There were alot of plot points I had problems with and the truce between them was pretty nonsensical if you ask me. Well not so much that as it makes them "best friends" now

Wait for Blu Ray for more content. It's not god awful but it's disappointing. Batman carried that movie.Reading the discussions in here... Haven't seen the movie yet. Not sure if I will.

Currently, no. It had a good start but after people started to talk about it, it started to go down. Can this reach a billion?
Maybe with the DVDs and blurays it will be close to that mark.

Hmm well you can sum up the general attitude towards the movie with this in a nutshell, but mostly because I find this video funny.
the premise in question starts at 2:55 lol

Not to be a heel, but Captain America Civil War reviews are out and wow, night and day.
I know right many praising Spiderman which is no surprise..
Speaking of Spiderman, anybody else think the title of the movie could've been better.... I mean Spider-Man: Homecoming seriously?
THAT'S WHAT HEROES DO, THEY SAVE PEOPLE!!
