You have to give Minato credit, he never really got a chance to be a father for most of Naruto's life growing up. Dai at least been with his son for a good first 10-14 years of his life.
This is true. Though... maybe I should rephrase, because now I'm seeing how my wording earlier can be easily misinterpreted. By "best dad" in the series, I meant more "best dad character" than "best father to his children". In terms of the latter, Dai easily has that advantage of time and experience over Minato, so that is indeed a harsh comparison.

I thought the chapter was okay, but I admit, I wanted to see Guy vs. Madara. Might Dai was kind of interesting, depending on one's point of view. And I thought the attack would have a cooler name than Evening Elephant, maybe something like Blazing Phoenix, or something like that, but I still think it's going to be epic.
I don't know why people keep saying Sasuke is going to get Rinnegan, 1: he would just abuse such power, and use it for the wrong reasons. And 2: the Rinnegan, like Edo Tensei, has been used a little too much and it gets a little old (Not that I hate either of those things, I was just getting my opinion out). Plus look how long it took Madara to awaken it, sorry, but unless Sasuke has some Uzumaki heritage in him (which I HIGHLY doubt), he would no live long enough to awaken those eyes.
But I am a little disappointed that there was no Naruto or NS, but I will keep waiting for the moment to happen.

Yeah that is why none of them told pain where Naruto was. Konoha has some bad people but they seem to be the nicest village.
They said we wont leave our comrades behind (despite they didnt knowing about where Naruto was anyway) but they dishonored Kakashi's father for not leaving his comrades behind.

Was that before or after Kakashi's father committed suicide for being dishonored when he didn't leave his comrades behind?

We have to remember guys and girls that we will be getting and NS moment we just not sure when it might be next chapter it could be in 10 chapters all I can say is we wait after all Gai will soon meet his end which I don't like but may be needed in order to stop Madara.

I wonder if Kishi is aware of how popular NS is
because you know, all the Sakura haters, and how unbelievably popular NH is and the fact that his editors like Hinata more than Sakura.

Hard to say. He probably do, but don't mind them. Just focus on his work.

People are talking a lot of crap about this chapter but I enjoyed it a lot.
There is a lot of merit to what Gai's dad kept saying about youth and I found his optimism in the face of cruelty and adversity awe-inspiring and a little heartbreaking. It's tough to remain that strong when everything is tearing at you and strength like that never truly gets the recognition it deserves, especially not in the Naruto fandom.

This chapter was easily the best one in a very long time. That flashback had more heart and good execution to it than the majority of events in the current timeline.

This is probably a naive question, but, how do we know that Kishi's editors don't like Sakura? Or that they like Hinata more?
Is it just because of the chapters like 615? Or have they actually said something?

this is from 2010 interview with kishi, link
"everyone says Hinata-Hinata all the time..."
"I wonder if it's that their voices supporting Hinata are so loud (my personal impression)"
even kishi thinks hinata is overrated
I can't even say good bye to you for the last time
I'm sorry

It was an ok chapter I guess. Not that good, but not that bad either. I cant really relate to Gai, so this chapter didn't tick me that much. If there's one chance for Gai's character closure, I guess this is it -- the last kamikaze battle to fight the ultimate villain.
I think Gai know he wont survive the battle, nonetheless, I respect him to try his best.
As for the absence of NS in the past 2 chapters (or probably until the next 2-3 chapters, who knows), I think they play it smart. They know this will keep everyone re-invested in the manga, so they spread the moments across multiple volumes. My take is, if Kishi is showing Naruto suddenly appear to save the day (thereby Naruto's awakening is not drawn on the panel), he is probably trying to milk the pairing-oriented audiences till the end.
However, if he decided to show NS moments during Naruto's awakening, he's probably trying to conclude. NS does not have to be canon soon. We can wait, we have all the good things given to us. I think we've been treated pretty well by Kishi. I feel pity for NH fans who waited for Naruto to return back Hinata's feeling in Pain arc (after the confession), only to found NS moment by Sakura hugging Naruto. Or waited for Hinata to rescue Naruto (after the handholding), only to found Sakura did a CPR to Naruto. They must have been very disappointed. Same goes with SS fans, each time Sasuke meet Sakura, they were trying to kill each other (except the recent meeting in war arc). Oh well, to each of his own.
Regarding NH popularity is more than NS, it's hard to say I guess. No hard proof for it, and as the years passed by, I think it's just a hoax. When I lived there, I know there are dedicated fans who literally worship Hinata (thanks to moe factor). But, by and large Sakura is more popular. My circle at least agree that NS was going to be the end pairing, even though we didn't discuss pairing that much back then. That was 9+ years ago though.
But, if it's truly the case that NH is more popular, the volume sales wont be dropping that much since the NH handholding scene isn't it? (some members pointed out that the sales of volume 64 onwards dropped significantly, correct me if I'm wrong). Other proof is, from what I heard, the recent CPR scene impacted the audience more than the handholding scene (people are looking forward to buy this manga again) --this is anecdotal on my side. And if you checkout merchandise, art work, games, books, posters, etc, you'll hardly find Hinata or NH, but you'll find tons of NS. Just look at Road to Ninja --it's the best selling Naruto movie, yet so many NS moments are in it. Heck, even the manga itself has so much more NS moments. So, I really think the statement that NH is more popular as just a myth --but again, who am I to make such baseless statement...

But the advertisement?
How many people freaked over the ads which came from the movie.
We got an huge poster drawn by Kishi pro-NH and SS, then later we got that Naruto eating ramen getting jealous about Sasuke flirting Sakura and Sakura falling for that and so much more.
I just dont know why they made a pro NS movie but advertized it as pro-NH and SS.
Sasuke was like everywhere but he barely show up on the movie and this also included Hinata.

face it people, NS is not that small and NH/SS is not that big as many people claim to be. None of us have any factual proof, but the surrounding facts suggest it... And this discussion is not related to 668 ;) so, I respect your opinion and lets agree to disagree. Now, let me continue to play Ultimate Ninja Storm on this peaceful evening and enjoy the NS fanservices they gave...

Even though its non-canon I think RtN has one of the best NS moments
I mean Sakura was willing to stay in that illusion world (a place where she would be alone without her parents) so that Naruto would be happy and be with his parents.

And she wanted to give him the Hokage cloak.
There was once a hero who flew too close to the sun.
His wings of wax fell apart and he plummeted to the earth...
