This cover is nice art and if Sakura were there, we'd all be rejoicing. Let's not forget that.

I have no idea what will be the canon pairing. (If there even is one at all.) But NS is the pairing that I enjoy most. Some shippers don't have fun if the pairing they like isn't canon, so let's not be angry when people jump ship. The only person we have to answer to about this is ourselves. Is this ship fun for me? Yes. So I will stay with it. It doesn't matter if a hypothetical NH fan (or any other fan) says our pairing is worse because people are jumping ship. I give you permission to tell them that I jumped ship from NH+SS to NS as a rebuttal. Everyone has anecdotes like this and they don't really matter in the grand scheme of why a pairing is likable. (EDIT: As a mod, I promise we will take care of other fans that come here to be mean, so you can rest assured. )

So without further ado, I will explain why I don't think that this cover necessarily means NH:

I think that Kishi is responding to people who (rightly) complained that he had forgotten about his other characters. All of the sudden Neji has died and by having Hinata featured reacting to this sacrifice, Kishi has now quickly put the spotlight on two popular side characters.

NH could sprout from the moment the cover is referencing, but it would take a hell of a lot of development to pull off in a way that I would find satisfying. (If the next chapter had an NH wedding, I doubt a lot of NH fans would be satisfied either!) He could still do it though. Sometimes authors don't get to do everything that they want when they are wrapping stuff up. (Read Bakuman if you want to gain a bit of insight on to how little prep some authors have for the endgame.)

Public opinion of Sakura still suffers from her characterization. Hinata is a very pure person. She does not lead anyone on, call them gross for liking her, or manipulate people's emotions with ulterior motives. Sakura has done all of these things and when you sum it up like that, it sounds like Sakura is a huge B.

However, Sakura has done/does these things because she wants so hard to be accepted/influential. I think she and Naruto relate on that and this is why Naruto started liking Sakura. Naruto acted out by being an annoying brat when he was young to gain attention and Sakura changed herself to be more outgoing by being a bandwagoning puppy-love girl. Hinata has never done things which were regarded with poor opinion (in everyone's eyes) in order to gain attention/influence.

Hinata changed herself to be like Naruto. This isn't a bad thing. It is just different from what Sakura has done. These parallels I see are most likely a really specific interpretation, but that's how I see it. XD

tl;dr I think that the cover/the recent Hinata feature was serving to address secondary characters and I don't think that Naruto likes Hinata in that way right now because he already has a strong emotional tie to liking Sakura.

I LOVE NaruSaku and all it`s charms but this is the Juubi, Obito and Madara were talking about here. The beast that faught rikude sennin, the man who faught harshirama and the man who faught Minato. This is the OP(over powered) battle of the century. And quite frankly Sakura is going to be needed in the fight. either as a fighter or as a damsel in distress. If she gets captured/hurt that will only make Naruto go beyond his limit once more. Like with Gaara but this time with some extreme powers to actually super-power. And I personaly cant get enough of Naruto protecting Sakura. I know its bad for her character but it`s super sweet.

EDIT: I got so caught up I forgot to make my point. Do you really want this battle to just end?

Short break. The battle is not over. The whole last volume was on Juubi. While not dead, it's "over" since their main target is to take out Madara/Obito. That said its accomplished but now it's time to take them out. When the battle comes, be on your guard.

I've been looking everywhere, I can't find that cover anywhere. Are you sure that the Volume Cover is legit?

Some people here act like we're on two sides. Post that says stuff like "not you too!" when people are being "negative" really makes me chuckle. Right now it's not about being positive or negative for me, I think people are just trying to analyze the situation we're in.

Basically, I agree with kirabook, reddragon, ramenanitsu, Codus, Saku-chan etc. I will not jump ship, I still enjoy the pairing after all. But I will change my standpoint, at least temporarily. It has been kinda shaky lately, but for now I think I'll just enjoy the couple from fanworks and my imagination instead of looking forward to the day they become canon. Because I want them to be canon in a good way. Funny thing, I enjoy a fan-doujin more than the actual series these days. I love Naruto fanworks, although One Piece is my favourite series. First I thought it was because I am more attached to Naruto as it was one of my first manga, but if I look for Naruto/NS now, I prefer people that bring their potential to the fullest instead of ruining it.

As much as it bothers me to admit it this new cover actually makes me think of Itachi's words:

"Because Minato had Kushina and everyone else he could become hokage."

And now in this new cover Naruto has Hinata and everyone else ready to fight right behind him. It feels like every expectation I had for Sakura is being replaced for Hinata.

Ooooh, nice catch. Actually they're holding hands too. Not just in a chapter panel, on a manga cover that is supposed to wrap up an entire volume. Either Kishi is a gold digger or he thinks the handholding was a bigger deal than we did.

Sorry, but I wasn't expecting this at all (though I wasn't expecting anything... I don't think about the covers and what will be on them). Seriously, Hinata looking like a heroine, even more than she did in 615... And here they're drawn much better than they were in the actual chapter.

I'm in the same boat as ramenanmitsu. I STILL love NaruSaku, and I STILL believe it will happen, but the way Kishimoto has been handling things... I don't think NaruSaku finally getting together will be written well. And that's NOT just because of chapter 615; I've been thinking this way for quite a while now. 615 just brought up (highlighted?) those problems. I really, really hope something similar doesn't happen with SasuSaku... Cause I don't think my stomach could take it.

Ugh... When NS happens they better get a cover that looks ten times as amazing. Hell, I want Sakura to be spotlighted on a cover, too, on her own, when she does something awesome. But I'm not expecting anything.

I can imagine that NaruHina is having a field day with this aha.

Come one guys cut the man some slack. If he was that bad at making NS than there would be no NS fans. Im confident that he will execute the finish just as well as he did the start and road there. So we hit a little bump. Its still a great ride.

I'm not cutting him any slack. What for? I know he has the capability to write a good story, else I wouldn't have gotten into the series and I feel he's been slacking and writing horribly lately so I'm going to say so. No hush hush from me.

Exactly. Making NS canon without clearing things up with Hinata and Sasuke would be a very bad writing. Now that we're done with Hinata we still need to wait until Sasuke shows up.

Besides. I can tell you from my experience that I got by working in the corner. Its hard. I wrote around 45 dialoges, some funny some sad. And Its not easy. Kishimoto made 624 chapters so far. And hes been doing it for years. For that he has my admiration because I can tell you its not easy.

Don't worry guys, he's just pulling a RTN there, you know how it will turn out later and besides, I would have draw the cover the same way he did if I had to summarize all those chapter, after all that is the most important scene there.

What you guys have to understand is this; Right now, Naruto and Sakura are at war. They don't have time to worry about personal feelings-unlike Hinata, who selfishness got Neji killed. If she had time to stand there and defend Naruto by attempting to block the wood pikes, she could of grabbed Naruto and move him out the way- Now, we all know that Naruto is loosely based on Kishimoto himself. He is Naruto, and if I'm not mistaken, his best friend was like Sasuke. Even Oda, who creates One Piece, said that Kihimoto's wife is like SakuraThat, and the multiple parallels to ObiRin, MinaKushi, and JirTsu, its quite obvious that Naruto and Sakura will attempt to get to the bottom of their feelings.

The hand holding got a cover dedicated to it. So what? It's not like Naruto and Hinata are having a steamy make out session or kittening each other with animal like lust.

Probably from a Japanese site. ramenanitsu is from Japan, maybe the cover hasn't reached the western world yet. I'm just guessing of course, but I was wondering why I didn't see any updated NH fans on youtube.

From now forward we should learn to never downplay a moment or try to find excuses to nullifies them, this is also including myself.
615 was a moment but when 616 was out everyone even myself start treating 615 like if it never happen plus when RTN came out people start saying that now they have zero doubt that NS will happen.

What I'm trying to say is that if we go by the Mange and pairing development, NS should be the pairing of choice but even when it seems like the logical choice for this Manga we don't know what Kishimoto is thinking this is mainly why I was not that move by the Movie even when I really like it. I stated before that for myself to enjoy this movie Kishi needs to do some fallow up in the Manga not only in Movies.

I didn't read your post before, lately I've thinking the same but I need to see the conclusion of this arc before I can make any assertion on Itachi's words to Naruto regarding Minato, Kushina and the villagers.
