So, all in all, this mini-arc could very well end up lasting two months. That's depressing. LOL. I was telling myself that Kishimoto was just going to have a discussion between the characters for like three chapters and then we'd get to carry on. I should have known better.

Word of advice: Stop reading from there. wink.gif

I guess you're right... Their translation are too far from original text...

Well, I guess all my hopes to see Sakura doing something on her birthday are gone now...Meh.
Well, what would you expect from mangastream? They're NH-ers... Missus, remember?

That's why I don't read from there anymore. I mean, they had Madara call Hinata a "little missus". huh.gif They've done plenty of things like that in the past before though. I find their translations are very pairing bias, leaning more towards NaruHina and SasuSaku. Their translation of 474 bolded, capitalized, and underlined the word "love" every time Sai or Naruto suggested Sakura having feelings for Sasuke. ex. "But Sakura LOVES Sasuke!!!!" sleep.gif

Like I said at the end of my post, it's a matter of personal interest. happy.gif

I'm on the side that thinks Kishimoto shouldn't have to explain every little thing to progress the story. So there was an Uzumaki shrine at the front of the village? Cool. I don't need to know how or why it was built. Just knowing that it's there is good enough for me. a_thumbs.gif

I could have gone without a lot of the details he decided to go back and touch base on, like Itachi's perspective of the Uchiha massacre. I personally didn't care to see that because Sasuke's story doesn't interest me in the slightest. It's something that we've heard about repeatedly. Seeing it from the perspective of another character without learning anything new about the event itself did nothing for me. Basically, all we saw was that it affected Itachi more than Kishimoto original let on. Cool. We knew that already. Time to leave it alone and carry on.

That being said, there are some events that I feel Kishimoto was right in explaining in greater detail, like what happened when Konoha was attacked by the Kyuubi. That event had a huge impact on the main character which is why I enjoyed seeing Kushina's flashback. The same thing can be said about Obito's past. He's the one that caused all of this in the first place. His past was something new for us to learn about and relevant to what's going on in the present. Plus, it didn't take too long to get through his flashbacks. Three weeks and we were ready to move on. That's how I like it. a_thumbs.gif

This battle I don't see as relevant to what's happening now. The only reason why we're even learning about it is to calm Sasuke down, which again, I really don't care about whether or not he's going to learn to play nice at the end of this. There might be some interesting information that comes from these flashbacks. I get that. But it's not something that I couldn't live without knowing. Maybe we'll learn how Madara escaped and found the magical tree of life. Cool, but again, I could live without knowing those details. I don't need to see how Hashi/Mito sealed the Kyuubi, or what attack he used to beat Madara. That's irrelevant information to me.

I'm also fairly irritated about this because it's just extending the amount of time that we have to wait to get back to the Alliance fight, which is the battle that I'm much more interested in seeing. Fight scenes are alright, but if they don't progress the plot at all, I tend to get bored with them. While it may be a very exciting turn of events for you and other users on this forum, it's going to be a very dull X amount of weeks for me simply because I have no interest in what's going on. Kishimoto could have easily wrapped this up with a discussion. I would have preferred that over a flashback. At least then I would still get to see the First interacting with the Second, which so far has been the highlight of this mini-arc. sleep.gif

Very well, but you never know you may be surprised. All I ask is you keep an open mind. Like you said, "you're supposed to read this story by volume, not by chapter."

What if this whole flashback opens new doors and expands the story even more? This is still much better than seeing Naruto's development not only not be pushed forward, but being pushed back in favor of just having other characters developed. Now THAT was truly pointless. At least with this we get to learn the history of Hashirama which is something I wanted to know more about. Is it necessary? No, but then at least it is relevant. How many times did we have to learn about characters that didn't really matter? Like Mifune and Hanzo.

The Alliance fight...I would be more interested in if it didn't keep doing this stop and go. They try to attack, thy get blown back, attack again, blown back again. I think you would get just as bored with that if we got nothing, but three months of stand stills and constant character wavering. I know I am beating a dead horse, but that Hinata scene just left so many bad tastes in my mouth.

Thankfully, I don't see these flashbacks as an "emotion fest" which is why I see these flashback being short.

What was really pointless in my opinion was the whole "Uchiha love love too much" thing. I thought they were just a clan of people who were power hungry, but we get that complicated mess.

You know I am just going to shut up and agree.

There. I fixed your post. tongue.gif

You do make a good point. Like I said, the main reason why I'm not looking forward to this is because I have no interest in it, but it is a better development than the Hinata scene. I guess I shouldn't complain.

Ugh, a flashback. I hate flashbacks. Especially extremely long flashbacks. dry.gif
Even if it's a flashback of the First's fight with Madara, I don't care to see it. I can handle a fight scene, so long as it has elements that advance the plot in it. This does not. All this does is maybe appease the whiny little emo kid and keeps us away from the Alliance battle for God knows how much longer. Can't they just have a discussion? Get it over with in a chapter and move along? *sigh*

I feel your pain. This is literally me. But...I'm still interested in seeing it. Just a little bit.

Let's find the middle ground.

I agree with you that unneccesary development and flashbacks hinder the story progress, but I am eager to learn more about the First Hokage. To me, Sasuke is just standing there.

Ugh. This was exactly what I didn't want to happen.

I wanted the war to be separate from Sasuke's own little arc. I didn't want Orochimaru and co. to join the battle. :/

Guess they're going to be in it anyways. Damn.

I predict they will join late in game, where the battle is almost closing in. I predict that Obito is going to die first before they arrived. This whole conversation so far has been all about Madara when you really think about it. You can read more in the previous page.

I say Sasuke's path will continue to remain separate from the war at least for a while. After he is satisfied with his conversation, Orochimaru might allow the kage's to go to the battlefield as he had hinted but i doubt very much Sasuke would go too.

The interesting this is that Orochimaru improved Edo Tensei enough to improve his control but it also meant the ones he revived were brought back with even more of their original power then the ones Kabuto revived. This could mean the Kage's have an advantage if they make it to the battle field. Madara broke free of the control but I think he still doesn't have his original power since Edo Tensei is still the only thing keeping him standing.

Soo.....

We got a retconning as to why Orochimaru got the Hokage Poo Poo Platter the first time around (off panel to boot!) and as to why the First can break out control now, but could not then. To quote Johnny Bravo: Yeah, whatever. Oh well, there was no clean way out of that hole, which was created by the constant powers up and the general need for every villain to be stronger than the last. It's a chronic problem in Shonen manga that last as long as this one does. I don't know that there is an easy way of preventing this, so I'm not terribly worked up about. It just caught my attention when I read that.

Also, can he do what Madara did and avoid the jutsu's cancellation? If he's the legend Madara says he is, probably so. If he can, I expect some level of exposition on why he needs to remain dead and the need of the current generation to bail themselves out. Fair enough, but won't there be egg on his face if he screws that up (I know he won't, but why risk it when you don't have to?) smile.gif. The easiest thing is probably just to ignore the hell out of this, so I'm really curious as to whether he'll bother or maybe it's just a plot device to explain why Orochimaru doesn't simply turn them loose on Konoha when they are done. Even if Sasuke elects to protect the village, what's he plan to do about that?

Other than that, not a whole lot, except that did it seem to anyone else that Kishimoto made it a point not have Orochimaru expand on what he's doing at this point? It felt that way to me when he showed the flashback of what Sasuke was explaining his intent. As for Sasuke, I wonder what he'll decide. I'm not sure he'll pick any of the known choices as why bother with this if Sasuke will still want to kill everyone (unless its an excuse for a long expose on what "Shinobi" and a general history, (isn't this like the third time)), but following Itachi's path tends to remove Sasuke from the antagonist role, so I'm not expecting that.

I meant to comment last night, but I was tired, and I must say this chapter was quite good. We finally get to know what happened between Hashirama and Madara, but not only that we got to see just how powerful Hashirama is and now he's dangerous because he was able to break Orochimaru's control on him... I wonder if the other Hokages can do that or will they continue to follow his orders?
