I'm going to post the rest of my thoughts on the podcast in a minute. And I'd also like to apologize for my contribution to going off topic . It won't happen again.
Possible reasons why some people like Hinata, especially over Sakura:
1. I already stated this one earlier, but it may be hard for some people to see her love as the fan girlish type, considering that she's the only fan girl Naruto really had. So, it would be viewed as cute and put her in a good light because she one of the few girls that actually likes the hero. Even worse, the girl that the hero likes practically found him annoying in the beginning, so that puts her on a higher pedestal for some people.
2. Hinata's character is barely touched upon to the point that it may be hard for some people to see that she has flaws. When I think of Hinata, the only thing that really comes to mind is the infatuation that she holds for Naruto, and her past involving her clan. But that's really about it. I'm not really sure who in the video had said this , but he brought up a good point about the possibility of Hinata only being meant for the chuunin exam. Someone posted a video on here (not specifically this thread) where it stated that Neji, I think, was supposed to die a long time ago, but Kishi's editor told him not to? (Gosh my memory escapes me). I wouldn't be surprised if Hinata's the same case. (Not that she was supposed to die, but that her character isn't really meant to be that important).
On Sakura and her development: I'm actually looking forward to that myself. I don't necessarily see her development being about her gaining some super super abilities (except maybe that one ability that Tsunade could have passed on to her). But really, other than that, the most I want from her is another good fight, and the other parts of her character, like her feelings, to be resolved. I also hope to see her figure out a proper dream for herself, because I keep thinking back to that moment when team 7 were together for the first time with Kakashi and they were introducing themselves. Sakura's dream back then was basically...Sasuke? Which is a little shallow. I'm hoping that she gets that chance to figure out what she really wants to do with her life. So yea
On Hinata's Speech: Well I already gave my opinion about that one in the debate thread. I didn't find it that big of deal in helping Naruto as some people do, considering that Kurama still had to put in his two cents. Even Naruto states that he wasn't about to throw away all of those bonds, so I didn't see that moment as "throwing away everything" either. He just needed a push and Kurama gave him most of the push he needed by reminding him of the sacrifice his parents made and that Neji and everyone are basically doing the same thing right now. And that's it really. But, you know, this is just my opinion. I don't really believe that was a true breakdown moment....or at least it didn't come across that way. I'd like to believe that it's going to take more than that to completely break his spirit, because the same thing practically happened in the Pein arc.
About Naruto's reaction to Sakura stating that they'll get Sasuke back this time during the Sai and Sasuke thing: Do you mean this one? Here and Here

That's actually a good observation, especially when you think about her words in 573 that, no matter what he says, they'll be together this time. As if he never wanted to get Sasuke with her in the first place. Or that he wanted anyone else's help when it comes to that, not just the war. I also love the way that Yamato before this scene said that Naruto will have to use only his power if he wants to: 1. Protect Sakura 2. Rescue Sasuke
Sakura says she doesn't want him (and only him) to go after Sasuke with the Akatsuki on his tail like that, and then he says after a brief pause that she was just making an excuse. Hmm. I get the feeling, because of this, that Sakura really is going to play a huge contribution when it comes to bringing back Sasuke. It didn't really seem like she was lying here about Naruto never worrying for himself, because even back in the Gaara arc she was about to tell him that it was him she was worried about. But he doesn't even think about himself. I really can't see her waiting and being worried like that. But we'll see?
Brief pause from this bunch of...stuff: I'm nearing the end of part 1. You guys are so cute xD. It's so interesting to hear your voices. And about 617, compared to 615, it was nothing. I'm actually surprised myself with people's reactions. But I think it was mostly that absence of Sakura that set people off, especially when you have others saying that Hinata's being more of a heroine (when that's definitely not true) and bla bla bla etc. So I sort of understand as well why people did.

About the Obi/Rin parallel: I'm beginning to have my doubts about that one. Unless Sakura gets hurt by accident, I don't see the Obi/Rin parallel coming into play here. I really think there's no need for it to happen. OR, if it does, Obito would have to know things about team 7 that they don't know that he knows. (), and maybe he actually does. Sakura's close calls with death also seemed interesting, but, again, that could all mean nothing. And, as of right now, we don't know how much Obito actually knows. So, for now, this possibility is sort of "meh" for me.
About Obito being talk no jutsu-ed: Before, I saw this as the only option of Naruto defeating him. But now, with Madara and Rinne Tensei, maybe Obito will do that for him? What do you think? Then again...there's still Rin's death to be resolved. Hmm....maybe he'll still help with the moon plan though, because with that Rin would be back, wouldn't she? Again...we'll see . I agree that Obito definitely has to "go" first though.
About Hinata and Naruto's dream as a Hokage: I think that has more to do with her not really knowing Naruto that well too, and her love for him (in my opinion) being something a fan would have for the person that inspires them (which is why she keeps mentioning they have the same nindo). But that's my take on it.
About Neji's Death: I can't see him coming back either tbh. That would just take away the significance of Naruto realizing that death is natural even when it comes to his bonds that he wants to protect....and that he'd just have to, figuratively, never let go of that person's hand and keep them in his heart (oh see what I did thur ;D?). This is another reason why I don't want Sakura to die too, because this argument can easily be used for her not to come back (and her story would be unfinished). I'd rather she be NEAR death, since it would be a repeat of the close calls she's had so far. As you stated, even if she died, Obito could have a limit...but still. The amount of bashing that would happen if she died...my Sakura heart can't take that.
Naruto's Development: You're right by saying this can go any way, but Sasuke would definitely be in the end. Nothing to add here . OR maybe there's one final villain and we get to see one last team 7 moment...but idk xD.
How has this forum changed me: It allows me to be open with people in a way that I've never been able to be before. I feel like...even if I have a different view to something, it's okay for me to share it anyway. It's given me that confidence I've needed. What have I learned:

I will add to this with what was already said in the podcast, but whether this is a reason or not I still don't see it as an excuse to excuse Hinata's behavior about Naruto. Especially when Sakura has been shown to move past that infatuation herself. It's like I told Poison in the 617 thread, I judge both characters equally and look at both their accomplishments and faults. Hinata has been shown to push her desires in places where it is not needed and not be that true love support that she is supposed to be. Relationships based on infatuation alone die off so quickly.
The even sadder part is, when ever she looks like she is truly feeling love for Naruto, she goes right back to infatuation.

This is what I believe hurts Hinata's character. To me, she is very shallow. (in terms of development) She has no idea who Naruto really is and it is is this reason why the relationship doesn't work. She doesn't spend enough time with our main hero in the story and is seen truly interacting with him in dire situations. In the past, it is all about fainting.
