It's one of those things, like the massively incompentent prison guards, that we as a fandom are asked to hand wave away. Surviving injuries people shouldn't long enough to do or say something meaningful is a stable of many stories.
Also, don't forget Katsuya offered to essential glue her back together and she didn't waive it off because it was a ludicrous idea, but because she is prioritizing the others.
Soo...don't write the death certificate yet!

I'd assume either the power vacuum will be short enough that it will just remain (or be ignored) or Kakashi will keep the seat warm. They could do it now...with Naruto being the true as well as they spiritual leader of the village Sasuke wants to destroy.
If feels like an ending moment, but it doesn't have to be.
I don't know what Kishimoto will do though. Just some ideas.
P.S. I think she will die, but I'm not going to say the type of injury makes it a forgone conclusion.
Well, those are good points. I can see Naruto as Hokage, protecting the village against Sasuke. IF Tsunade does die or retire, the only question would be if Naruto would gain enough respect from the village elders to approve his appointment as Hokage. Of course, being a hero of the Great Ninja War wouldn't hurt...
Tsunade does have her forbidden healing ability, and I can imagine that using it to heal the other Kages and perhaps knit her broken body together, but it would cost her dearly in life expectancy. If she does live, I don't think she will have many years left to live.

I understand perfectly for some fans to be very upset about this, and my sympathies go to them. But, if I have to be honest, even though I really do like the Naruto characters, I don't really have any emotional connection with any of them except for Naruto, Sakura, and MAYBE Kakashi (though his death didn't effect me either, but that's more to do with that I knew already he will be revived). I particularly don't care for most of the Konoha 9 (or 11, whatever you prefer), so I don't think I will be very upset if any one of them kicks the bucket.
It doesn't mean I want anyone of them to die, nor that I don't care for the other characters (outside most of the Konoha whatever), and I understand perfectly for fans not wanting to see their favorite characters to die. But it's a war, people will die, and frankly I'm surprise it took THIS LONG for a supporting or recurring character to finally die. I'm surprise some of the more minor characters haven't died at this point......
I was thinking the same thing. This may actually put Obito into a supporting villains role, but I believe that Madara has proven enough that he is worthy to be the main villain. Besides, Darth Vadar was still the main villain in most of the original trilogy. The Darth Sidious was the evil mastermind behind the whole thing, just like Madara. Except Madara has been dead for most of the series, but it was still most likely his plan.............a plan that Obito most likely or not changed for his benefit.

Yes i tihnk she s not going to survive this but at least its a scarifice for NS to go on and for Naruto to finally become hokage after war.
But in the moment i would be more intrested whats happening with the gedo statue. Maybe if obito wants to seal the juubi inside him, naruto comes out of obitos dimension and seals the juubi inside himself to defeat madara or smth. like that

I don't know, it might be just the right time for everyone to collective tell the elders to screw off. But Kishimoto hasn't set that up, yet. We know they awful, but the stuff we know they did most of the characters don't know. Second, it was the Daimyo that appointed Danzo last time.

Given the tragic history of well, every Team 7 we know about, and the whole surpassing the previous generation thing, I imagine that they will all live.

I agree that Tsunade might live yet. And I'm disappointed that the whole Obito/Tobi/Madara thing wasn't more creative.

I still think this development is a lot more interesting then the war arc in general, most of the fights were against enemies that we didn't know and we didn't really cared, but this one, it really got me interested in the series in a way that didn't happened in a long while.

I agree with alexander. I said this before, but even though certain things have become a little bit predictable, I'm still enjoying this story because this is a story wanted to be told. The fact that I/we have been able predict what happens next actually makes feel prideful, as I like it when my predictions become true.

Okay, about Tsunade's possible death. I am not a fan of her death equal development for NS in mutual and individual, but it seems like that could be the case. I can't confirm it but it seems like her sentence really worries me. They all in the same health, which is like 10% left in them. That said if Tsunade does another healing technique to them, it seems like her time is up. I hate to say this, but it seems like she will get her final closure through death. Most likely, we will hear everything that she felt from the past to now.
Now, let's talk about her aftermath. I do believe Sakura will get a development from this because they are close. Reread the manga to see how much she care for Tsunade, and it's not just because she's the Hokage. She knows her well enough to be close. If you remember Sakura telling Shikamaru to do some research, she was sadden that Tsunade is feeling really hurt and she knows it. Not to mention, I feel like they are close when they hold hands, waiting for Naruto to finish the fight. It's a sign of good friendship and Kishi put a work to it. For a relationship that is shown small compared to others, it still shows you that their bonds are close. She needed a cheer up because she felt bad as well for Tsunade's injury. Let's not forget how overjoyed she was when Tsunade woke up.
As for Naruto, yes, he will get a development as well. I can already imagine him flashbacking the moment when he first met her. They are close as well as shown many times. Tsunade is the one that put over Naruto as a savior of Konoha during Pain invasion. Naruto might feel bad to have that one argument about Jiraiya death if you remember. Granted I believe it's been taken care of, but stuff like this hunts Naruto. He will get the development for many ways and probably it will be the right time to start thinking about leadership before becoming Hokage. Not saying he will be once she dies, but when the time comes, he must be ready.
As for NS, there are multiple ways. One I could see Naruto holding Sakura as she cries heavily, not to mention Naruto will be upset too. Remember, both of them are close to Tsunade. Once they both go through their developments, they could share their thoughts on the news and probably talk over that Tsunade wants them and the village to stay strong. I believe Naruto will end up cheering Sakura up after the talk, which proceed her to smile gently. Shizune will talk to Sakura, of course, but doubt that Kishi will dismiss Naruto from Sakura. Again, they are close to Tsunade.
Look, I am not a fan of the idea, but if it has to be this way, well damn him and so be it. The real question is: If she's going to die, when? Time is ticking and this could be huge. Be prepare.

I get what you mean, I had the thought that Tsunade's death could be the catalyst for Naruto and Sakura to get together but even though I'd accept it, I wouldn't be fond of it, I want them to get together with minimal outside influence, if Tsunade's death was the cause then whats to say that it was just grief that pushed them.
Its hard to know when Tsunade said to worry about her body later if she meant that there is a chance to save her or these are her last moments. Personally I think Tsunade should die if it means that the other Kages can assist Naruto and Bee. When she was first introduced she was incredibly jaded in what the role of the Hokage was, if her last act as Hokage is a way to save the Kage and help everyone then that would be a great testament to how far she has come and she will die a hero. But even though I think she should die I want her to hold on a little longer at least to have final words with Naruto, Sakura and Shizune.
If she does die I'd be interested to know how Orochimaru feels, when he first died we got the moments with Tsunade and Jiraiya reflecting on it, it would be interesting to know what his thoughts on being the last Sannin is.
One thing is if Naruto becomes Hokage at the end of the war, where does that leave Sasuke, will it push him into an even more villainous role and he will directly attack Konoha forcing Naruto to protect it.

You also know why this suck FC? It suck because Tsunade wanted to See Nawaki become Hokage but he dei, then she place her hope on Dan but he also die, know that Naruto the last person she place her faith on is close to become Hokage she might die.
Why Kishi needed place Tsunade 3 times on the verge of death?

Damn this Manga is so freaking frustrating.
Tsunade's death was somewhat foreshadowed in the Pein arc. In fact, I was surprised she did not stay in a permanent coma. There are other ways to develop Sakura, but killing Tsunade would be probably the only way for Sakura to empathize with Sasuke and Naruto. That being said, I don't think she was killed off solely to develop Naruto and Sakura, but also Kakashi. Remember, Kakashi is next in line for the title of Hokage.
Tsunade knows Naruto will become Hokage, she said so herself in the end of her introduction arc.

I'd like to see Madara go, "Why, back in my day...." Which he pretty much did during his fight with the Kages.....

Tsunade cheated death 3 times already why put her in a place to die for the 4 time after Dan ask her to live more he is not ready to see her yet.
Plus that Panels shows Tsunade want to see Naruto become a fine Hokage, why take that away?
If Kishi find the way to save Tsunade I will become one of his fan in NF, I'm still not over Jiraiya's death and trust me when I say, I want to believe that he is not dead since Kabuto could not find his body, I'm still in denial refusing to believe he is dead.

Thing is, if he wanted her to live, why even cut her in half in the first place? To try to cause suspense in an arc where no main characters have died in a war yet? Yeah, good job with that Kishi.
If Tsunade doesn't die from this, then it'll just be a pointless, wasted, failed attempt at causing "suspense" in a story that already is severely lacking it.
I mean, look at me. My favorite character, Gaara, is laying on the ground. Bleeding. Not moving. Why do I not seem to care (aside from that little joke I made a second ago with Leo)? Because I know Kishi won't kill him. Because I know he doesn't have the guts to. And this knowledge causes a huuuge lack of attachment to what's happening in the story.
