Oh god... Poor, poor, Hachiken... XD;

I think he's really going to need some help. He'd better not take on ANY new responsibilities at all!

Poor Hachiken, looks like being known as 'the guy who can't say no' is taking its toll on him. Kinda nice the teacher let him sleep though.

from ANN

QUOTE
The fourth volume of Hiromu Arakawa's Silver Spoon manga will have a first printing of one million copies. It has been only one year annd three months since the manga launched — the fastest that any Shogakukan manga has reach that million-copy milestone. There are only a few manga series from any company — notably, One Piece and Naruto — that also have first printings of one million or more. For Arakawa, Silver Spoon is her second manga to accomplish this feat, after Fullmetal Alchemist.

congrats Arakawa-Sensei

Silver Spoon is likely going to be a black horse (no pun intended) in the manga industry by the way it's been going. Much like her previous work was.

I can only hope that it's success will bring it to NA, I am not holding my breath though despite it's greatness I am sure the Viz exec's see it as very niche...sad.gif

Wow, great to hear Silver Spoon is a huge success in Japan. biggrin.gif

Chapter 45 is now out

Chapter 45 Comments --Click here to view--

I laughed so much in this chapter. th_7eyytubokky7rehok1k.gif 111189.gif

The second sled.
Hachiken's "riding trance" (and Aki's reaction).
Okawa's "pep talk".
The entrance of Minamikujo Ayame as Hachiken's rival.

Wonderful chapter. XD

Heh, it seems more like Ayame'll be the usual ineffectual rival that Hachiken probably wouldn't care for.

That scene with her father was hilarious, though.

Chapter 46 out: http://www.mangaread...lver-spoon/46/2

It's just me, or Hachiken scores better when he goes into a frenzy rather then just trying things normaly?

Yep, Hachiken scores better when he goes into a stressed-out trance. It looks like Ayame won't be much of a rival for him, she's just there for comic relief. tongue.gif

Chapter 47 is out now!

Will add comments after I've brewed a fresh coffee and read this chapter. biggrin.gif

Chapter Comments --Click here to view--

ARGH. Please hold on, Hachiken!

I'm really liking the way that he and Chestnut are bonding, and they looked cool through the course. smile.gif I just hope that Hachiken doesn't fall off, that would be such a cruel end to that run!

ARGH! Arakawa-sensei and her usual well-placed cliffhangers..... Also, this moment is much more dramatic when reading it with the Dark Knight Rises OST playing.... sweat.gif

Ah! I think I know what's going to happen next chapter...

Chapter 48 Prediction --Click here to view--

This is going to happen again, isn't it?

Chestnut does the same thing, and Hachiken takes the opportunity to ram his right boot back into the stirrup. Then they soar into the skies. 8D]

Corny, I know. But I really don't want Hachiken to meet such a cruel end to his run!

Chapter 48 - Did Hachiken Fall or Not!?

SAFE!!! Just!

Loved the scene between Hachiken and his brother, I feel sorry for his brother, he means well but he always seems to see the worst option as the best one - the embarrassing photo in this case. XD;

Hachiken definitely wants to get better, doesn't he? Maybe his partnership with Chestnut will become one of the main threads of Silver Spoon, and we'll see them entering more competitions.

I like how VP also made the "SAFE!" gesture along with everyone else. It would've been interesting to see how his parents would've reacted had they seen him perform.

It's been interesting to watch the Olympics, keeping in mind Hachiken, his horsey troubles and the competition. In the Equestrian event they have a 70-year-old Japanese man. He first rode in the Olympics at age 23, and he is now Japan's oldes Olympic athlete.

I wonder how many people's interest has been piqued because of the manga, and vice versa? I saw an interview with the man and he said he relied on the strength of the horse to carry him through. That it was all about the horse. Hmmm.... That theme sounded very familiar! biggrin.gif

Agreed! I actually watched both the jumping and the dressage events while eating my meals. When the British riders were interviewed after winning their gold medals, they all spoke about their horses and how they had all come along at the right time, and the deep bond of trust between horse and rider.

Dressage also never fails to astound me, it's truly remarkable to watch the rider and horse go through all the different movements, and I cannot even begin to imagine the training they went through to perfect those motions.

Intriguing how the similarities between Hachiken and Mikage appear here.

Aside from the obvious, both riding Chestnut, they always seem to be conscious of what others think of them. Maybe that's why that guy says she always seem to fail in the end. She, like Hachiken, thinks too much.
