How can anyone deny that picture doesn't mean anything?

Yes, because Kishimoto is going to spend time drawing hours upon hours upon hours of work as fodder, while a single CD cover represents an entire pairing as canon.

To begin with, everyone has their own interpretation of good and bad writing, and I honestly can't say that I find Kishi's writing bad, sorry to say. Others agree with me. But I totally respect and understand your opinion and feelings. 

 

In terms of the confession, Sakura kind of does bring up Naruto's feelings for her in the heat of the moment. She says something like, "Look, if you don't like me it's fine," and continues trying to persuade him to return with her. If memory serves, he either says "It's not that," or doesn't address that bit at all, which means that he does acknowledge his feelings for her. 

 

To a certain extent, yes, I agree that it's not fun to be led on like that. However, in this case, everything is different. Naruto has been running around a lot since that time, and, as I said, he hasn't had, based on what we can see in the manga, a proper opportunity to converse with Hinata, so there would be no moment for them to discuss what happened, I think. 

 

Naruto takes all his commitments seriously. He knows that romance can wait, especially because of the girls with whom it's involved. There are more pressing matters that need to be handled. He's set on his way, and he doesn't want to give up. That includes his promise to Sakura. Sakura may have released him from it, but he's so dedicated to her and Sasuke, that he hasn't forgotten. 

 

That's what I think, anyway. 

Nothing wrong with that. I'm no more correct than anyone else.

 

I do get the romantic vibe from Sakura.

Like in the bottom panel here when he calls her confession a joke and she looks like she's about to burst into tears.

 

But when she does later tell him to just flat out reject her he just says that her confession is weird. He doesn't even acknowledge his own feelings. He dodges her question but calls her confession a joke. and he doesn't seem hurt that she might be lying or relieved that she feels the same. The vibe I get from him is that he nothing's it.  

 

I have to disagree with you though that Naruto has been too busy to speak to the both of them. There are several panels focusing on the aftermath of the Pain fight where he has enough time to meet the lightning ninja. Not too mention that he regularly hangs out with Sakura. He should have addressed them by now.

 

But this is all opinionated anyways. I still believe in NS, I just don't think that it's been handled as well as it potentially could have. Same with the story.

Guys, can we just take a look at how other canon Shounen couples have been portrayed together in marketing material/official art?

I know there are more for other pairings, but as my favorites and the ones with which I'm most familiar, take a look at these. They're serene and genuinely happy; there isn't much distance between them. Compare this against what SP just released, which is totally depressing and angsty. Of course, I understand that there can be tension and angst, even for canon couples, but the way that official art seems to portray them always has a more positive atmosphere, especially when they're more obviously canon.

Eh, in all seriousness, Narusaku probs isn't going to be made canon in the manga, based on the trailer dude's voiceover, maybe with some kinda small ambiguous scene. Hinata is probably going to confess in this movie and actually get an answer.

Thank you, there's nothing happy or romantic about that pic. The atmosphere is romantic but the people are not at all. It's very depressing and awkward.

I have a question to all the ones who believe the love song could be sad and about rejection (which is not the case according to the interview): 
Why would they put an emphasis on NH rejection in the ending song (though I'm not sure if it's the ending song), if the movie end on NS??? That's so wierd, no really it makes no sense to put another couple on the foreground but not the main one, the one who happened at the end of the movie. 

Why would someone smart enough, reveal his canon pairing well in advance before the movie especially when he knows it has the least fan following of the Big 3? Kishi knows NH and SS fanbases are way bigger than NS. How would he make money if he reveals NS? And besides...he himself said that this movie has a good amount of romance in it. So why reveal the surprise when it is supposed to be kept as a surprise? Would the movie be as interesting as it would be, if Kishi revealed his lead pairing all in advance? No, right?

Remember, its not over until its over!

To be honest, I took Naruto's lack of response to that comment as an implicit acknowledgement of his feelings for her. He was more focused on emphasizing that he had a hard time believing her. That's how I looked at it, anyway. 

 

Actually, I take Naruto being with Sakura more as emphasis that Hinata isn't as involved in his personal life, which is one reason why they didn't get to talk. Of course, the village was in chaos, after that, so maybe they really just didn't get the chance? Plus, as we can infer from his convo. with Sai, he needs to make good on his promise about Sasuke, before he can do anything about romance. That would also apply to interacting with Sakura. 

 

Yeah, I still have faith in it, too!
