I have no doubts whatsoever that Sakura is there with Naruto while he's dying for an important reason, no matter if it's pairing-related or Sakura-related for her development (near-sacrifice maybe). I always thought this ever since I read Ch. 662. I had some concerns earlier that Kishi would have Gaara take Naruto to Sakura right away, but he did and look at the direction it's going. I originally believed Tsunade would have a place in this considering she's the second healer closest to Naruto, but instead you have Tsunade say she's out of chakra to heal any more. Why? It's not so much a logic reason since Tsunade's supposedly the greatest healer and can easily be seen healing again. That scenario with Sakura being the only one to heal seemed deliberate, wouldn't you say? That always told me something big is in store for Sakura now. I could just feel it when I saw that panel and even more so on the last panel.
I don't predict a Sakura death/sacrifice. It's not that I can't see Sakura doing that for Naruto, but I just don't know what she could do that makes that seem reasonable skills-wise. IMO, she doesn't have Chiyo's technique. Chiyo died so Sakura never got the chance to learn (I could see her asking to learn it, but it didn't happen). What else does Sakura have? Wear out all her medical ninjutsu on Naruto until she dies? We know that won't bring Naruto back. Tbh, I don't even like that scenario anyway. If Sakura comes back with some other completely different jutsu that could save Naruto, then I'll be annoyed because it's too convenient and Kishi never showed us this on-panel. It's like my sometimes gripe with Sakura and her seal. If all her new abilities are off-panel, then that's about as bad as Sasuke's hawk summoning.
I still vote Minato will save Naruto, but I think Sakura has another purpose here. Other than to prove that Naruto's definitely in a critical situation (662 was for that use), I feel like she's going to get a epiphany in this. It can be character development but considering Naruto's dying, I think it will be related to her feelings for him. BakaNeko-Chan mentioned before she doesn't see how you can make that too ambiguous, but I think it can be done. All Kishi has to do is get some vague Sakura inner monologue about how she feels about Naruto dying or when he's brought back or not have her think anything at all and just have her actions speak louder than words. Seriously, with Kishi, I'm betting money on this route.
In the very last arc, I can Sakura's feelings still be kept ambiguous until Naruto's about to fight Sasuke. She'll confess to Naruto that she's sorry about her confession and how she didn't tell him the "truth" , but she realized that she truly loves him after he almost died. However, her issues with Sasuke still exist, so I think we'll probably have a full-blown Team 7 love triangle until the very end.
I may sound like a broken record with this argument, but it's the only realistic option I'm seeing. NH/SSs do have somewhat of a point when they argue why is she still confused over Naruto if she loves him this late in the series. However, that simply means we need a serious situation for her to get that wake-up call. If Sakura still doesn't know she loves Naruto after something like this, then something's wrong IMO.
