Pretty much everyone is, I'd think. Problem is, DBZ never pretended to be anything other than what it was, whereas Bleach is still trying to be "deep". Which it's not. At all.

^ I don't really think Kubo is the type who would take himself too seriously so I don't see bleach trying to be too deep. Especially since he is always saying how he writes what he wants and that the story is for Ichigo.

I agree with you Soupy, i don't think Bleach ever was "deep" just a fun manga to read.

I didn't say it was deep, I said it was trying to be. The tragic backstories, the internal struggles, the relationship problems, etc. But at the end of the day, it's just DBZ with swords.

I still have a hard time trying to wrap my head around the fact that Aizen is a winged fairy.

Does the Hougyoku provide make-up too?

Isn't that what I also said? I said I don't think bleach is trying to be deep, either is Kubo going to take himself too seriously. Usually the greatest depth comes from the plot itself, but bleach is mostly about the characters. Characters and fighting.

It wasn't years. Isshin himself stated that it was a little over two months. Ichigo improved so quickly because that's what he does. Urahara and Yoruichi have even commented on it: His most powerful feature is how fast he grows. From his first fight with Renji to his last fight with Byakuya was less than two weeks, and in that time, he went from having a sword that could be cut by the weakest attack, to having a BanKai.

For Ichigo, two months is more than enough.

As for the story behind his Reiatsu, I have a theory: He doesn't have any anymore. He has some unique power all to himself. He's a hybrid of Human/Shinigami/Hollow. There has to be something special about that, more than just rapid advancement or power.

Yeah forgot about that, Isshin said he could last around three month, I think I watched Inception around same time I read this chapter so I merged both the idea's togeher and got hundreds of years...but atleast he got three months nonstop training which would have made him much stronger.

Although Bleach is a shounen and shounen are always focus on action. The manga Bleach is all about pure action like DBZ, it doesn't have too much dialogue between characters and drama is little focused on. If we compare to Naruto in which Kishi focus a lot on the drama, with a bit of humor, little romance and moderate action this is why I prefer Kishi's work over Kubo's not that I'm flaming him I will always like Bleach.

...Unbelievably DBZ-ish... but still, I'm eager to see how much more powerful Ichigo's grown... I sense a Goku vs. Freiza overtone going here ... Let's see... Goku--I mean Ichigo--shows off skills and beats up Freiza--I mean Aizen--a bit. Aizen then claims he was playing around and will start to get serious. He kicks Ichigo around more. Ichigo realizes that in his current state he can't beat Aizen, so he resorts to an ultimate attack he learned while training. He does some damage, but Aizen survives and hurts/kills some other people. Ichigo, now renewingly PO-ed, gains more power and hurts Aizen more. Aizen starts actually trying as best he can which leads to a final 1 on 1 showdown between Ichigo and Aizen.

I hope that it won't turn out like this...but if it does, hey, I'll still be entertained. I still think it would've been a lot more interesting if Gin killed Aizen and became the main villain...such a great opportunity that Kubo might have wasted

Ichigo can still do comedy and serious in the same episode.

It was kind of boring to me and I don't know why. There where good things in the chapter, I agree, but it seemed kind of forced, like Kubo wants to end Bleach before 2011

I love the new super sexy Ichigo, but butterfly Aizen kinda gets me down (even though it's symbolic of his transformation into a super powerful being and whatnot).
