Like, where in the manga did Naruto's feelings ever falter or change? The only one who's feelings were seen to be changing were Sakura's. So yeah that's why people are freaking out.

hey all I've been following this site for a while now, and because of this topic I just HAD to make an account. I've been reading the comments and I've been having laughing fits on top of heart attacks on top of laughing fits.  I'm a HUUUUGE NARUSAKU FAN and I cant see any other pairing happen.  but the again kishimoto isnt know for his genius with romance XD.  So whatever happens happens.

thats what ive been saying but others have the shipping googles too tight...well im still going to watch the final chapter  taking all these with a grain of salt and with minimal hope for ns..that way i will be less dissapointed or shocked

That's the problem with Kishi....he loves his anti-hero more than most fanboys love good antiheroes (like Vegeta, Zuko)give Sasuke so much of a free ride, crdit and a positive rep from everyone its impossible to sympathize wth the guy....even if his family died I feel like I have had a kittentier life than him

 

Thats a popular cliche the coolguy is much more sympathetic than the main character i dislike it.

Don't think that way, romance doesn't work like that. That's like saying a person who leaves a domestic abuser and marries a much better husband is only getting a silver medal bc she still has lingering feelings for him. Feelings are never black and white and Gold, Silver, Bronze medal thinking is black and white pessimistic thinking. 

 

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of course but...

 

Unfortunately Shonen or not this does not excuse Kishi. If you introduce a plot device into your story it must be handled correctly. There are plenty of shonen where love plays a role and actually makes sense within the story. Yu Yu Hakusho, Love Hina, and Rurouni Kenshin to name a few.

 

Just being a shonen however is not an excuse. Compare the romance in Naruto to the romance in DBZ. We can give DBZ a pass bc the romance is in the background. In Naruto the romance aspect plays a much bigger role. We have whole chapters dedicated to it(Sakura's Confession), Character traits (Naruto's crush on Sakura, Hinata's crush on Naruto, Sasuke's crush on himself, Orochimaru's crush on Sasuke). Yet the romance of the main characters is handled horribly.

 

SS makes zero sense. Sakura's feelings for Sasuke make zero sense. NH lacks a ton of development to have evolved into love. Meanwhile villains like Kaguya appear out of thin air and Sasuke wants to protect the Leaf village and the senju despite the fact that Hashirama betrayed Madara's trust, Tobirama was racist against the Uchiha, and Sarutobi failed to prevent the event that destroyed his clan.

 

Finally you have Itachi's parents who THANKED HIM and said that they were PROUD OF HIM FOR BETRAYING AND ANNIHILATING THEIR ENTIRE CLAN???

 

And Naruto the hero of the entire story at the end still has yet to surpass Sasuke in a one on one contest and is being passed over for Hokage by Kakashi???

 

Imo this is piss poor writing on Kishi's part. I fail to see what makes him so great of a writer. None of his writing makes any sense when you examine it and I've seen a decline in the manga ever since the end of the Land of Iron Arc. The only reason I'm sticking with it at this point is for NS. Otherwise I'll probs never read another Kishi Manga again.    

 

Rurouni Kenshin romance was not truly depicted until the OVAs, and even still the mangaka admitted he was afraid to dive more into the romance but considering it was a Shonen he feared the audience would not take well to it.

 

YYH was direct, we weren't given multiple love interests like the level of Naruto.

 

Love HIna I cannot speak on.

 

Naruto romance suffers from stereotypical female characters, if any thing.  Notice how most are not complaining about the build up in between Naruto and Sakura, but rather how she apparently still loves Sasuke. 

 

If Kishimoto, like with the mangaka of Rurouni Kenshin, is being limited because it is a shonen, we can expect things dealing with romance to suffer.  If the main focus is action, we cannot expect romance, even when he attempts to introduce, to be fully fleshed out.  It's as simple as that.

Try coming with an actual decent argument....excusing a sh*tty romance resolution because its a shonen has to be the worst excuse I've ever heard.

 

It's a perfect argument.  It's what limited several other shonen before(like Rurouni Kenshin), because the fact that they believe young boys(their targeted audience) would not be interested in such things.

 

If his editors are limiting him to the point he can properly resolve a romance because they feel it will not bode well with their audience, it's  again.. a perfect reason.  If Kishimoto's main focus on this manga is the action and because of such his subplot of romance suffers, it is to be expected.

 

So far the only counter argument you gave was shonens that barely scratched the surface in exploring romance, and never took the big approach of adding multiple love interests.  It's a bit of a mess, if any thing, but as I stated your problem seems to be that Sakura still apparently loves Sasuke.  I have not seen you voice displeasure in the build up between Naruto and Sakura.

Its a good thing its a double chapte and we will maybe get pairings confirmed otherwise imagine how SS and we would be if it was just a single chapter for the next week
