Allow me to borrow/modify something I posted on the #631 thread....

 

 

This is what Naruto looks like when he's joking / not serious / lying about his relationship with Sakura.  You can tell he's lying not only by his words but by his expression and posture as well.  There's always some kind of "tell" when he's joking.  He's got a cheesy smile, or he's doing something completely outrageous, or he's sneaking around, or he's generally being a doofus. 

Then there's #631....

 

 

We get a significantly different expression and response from Naruto. He is as sober as a judge here. The look on his face is serious.  The words he uses are serious.  There's no hint of joking whatsoever.  HE IS NOT JOKING.

 

I can understand why anti-NS folks would want to downplay this moment as a joke or something casual, but I can't understand why any NS fan would say he is joking here when he clearly is not.  He's not even smiling, for crying out loud!

 

The comment Naruto made in #632 -- "I'll never, never turn on Sakura-chan again... she'll pulverize me...." or "Ne-never again... I can't ever poke fun of Sakura-chan again... otherwise she'll turn me into a stain...."  (depending on the translation) -- WAS a joke.  You can tell by "lady lips" caricature of his face and the overall silliness. He's referring to all the stupid jokey crap he's done over the years to get a rise out of her -- the Oiroke no Jutsu, teasing her about being strong, etc. -- NOT his feelings for her.

 

Remember his reaction in #469?  How he told Sakura -- twice -- that joking about something like loving him or choosing him over Sasuke wasn't funny?  Right.  But we're supposed to believe he turned around and "joked" about Sakura being his girlfriend to his father?  Please. 

 

As far as I'm concerned, trying to link the obvious joke in #632 to Naruto's answer to his father in #631 is either willful blindness or a desperate attempt to invalidate Naruto's declared feelings for Sakura.

 This is like the NaruHina fans who says that Sakura is the more useless character in the serie and Hinata is super usefull ( Dont really see how getting her ass kik by Neji and Pein is usefell but nvm )

 

There is nothing to do with those people i guess... Sakura could kill the Jyubi and Madara and then kiss Naruto and they would still say that she's useless and that NaruHina is canon because of the handolding

Well i believe he was joking she's not his girlfriend and the question wasnt directly to him.
The point is doenst matter if it was a joke or not, it does not downplay that he still loves her and the further implications of that, the parallel get settled either way and explains why Naruto enjoys doing that with Sakura, he likes that just like his father, he loves her just like his father loves Kushina, he proves so many implications that if he was joking or not is completely irrelevant, it doesnt change that NH is dead.

naruto doesnt feel attracted to Hinata and also she's not the type of girl he likes.

Which I think speaks a lot since she didn't deny it, if Kishi wanted NS to not happen then her denying it right then and there would have been the perfect time to do it.

he wasn't dumb... In fact he added "Well... Something like that datte--..." There's no much to think on..

 

At the moment Naruto and Sakura aren't a couple but there's something platonic between them and they don't know at which point is their relationship....yet...

 

Naruto was serious and, at same time, he wanted to push Sakura for that...

Yeah but it sounds like people in here assume that he already considers her his girlfriend. If its somehow true and kishi makes naruto believes this then i can only say bad writing, especially after all the drama with naruto and sakura (naruto saying he cannot confess because of sasuke and his believe of her still loving sasuke).

He said thats pretty much it. If he ment it serious then that means that he somehow sees her as his girlfriend and that goes back to the above posted.

I am just going to bring up what me and NaruSaku4life3g have been saying for a while now. It is no longer the "Road to if NS will be canon," but rather after this point it is "the Road to how it becomes canon." It's not canon yet, but it will be the end result. There is no way to pull out any other pairing and have it be believable at this point. Not after that scene and the parallel. You don't do something like that on purpose and not follow through with it.

Otherwise, why have the scene at all then?

After the fiasco of 615 and the fiasco of Sasuke's whole entire life being written as nothing, but asspulls, bad writing, forced plots, and odd circumstancing leading to weird conclusions, you believe this is bad writing? Pain was dead already. Madara is not young. Obito is the only one to make this false. Then again, it is hard to say because right now, it's one way to make one of them red herring. You guys seem to be too relax that Sasuke is good all the way, which is ok, but I don't know. I would have been fine if the possible hint didn't happen in this chapter. Plus, I feel like Naruto remembering what toad said could come back when the time is needed. It didn't happen to Obito but again, I could be wrong.
