What is it in the sentence that makes it different from how he talks to Sakura? And also, who's to say Naruto doesn't change the way he speaks to her should they establish a relationship (don't think he would, just a thought)?

That's not how it goes. Naruto uses a term that addresses his normal peers. I think it "omae" or something like that.

 

It's not Sakura, and nobody should think otherwise. Like I said, just ask anyone here that actually knows japanese. I can't help you with that.

I believe it's the "omae" in the sentence. Omae is often considered disrespectful if used.

 

Note that omae does not have really any REAL word usage. It's sort of an anime/manga thing.  Using it in the Japan will probably result in you being considered very rude, or not being taken seriously as all.  An English example is if some one said "I will ANNIHILATE you".  Sure, they may sound like some villain in cartoons back during the 80s, but honestly you would not take them very seriously or perhaps find their odd threat as offensive or maybe even confusing.

The "Something to tell you" line that Naruto says in "The Last" is not directed towards Sakura. This was already established weeks ago by the japanese translators.
 
The way Naruto addresses Sakura is different in japanese than the way he speaks in that sentence. In that sentence he's just speaking to a normal peer. It could be Sasuke or anyone else of the rookies, but it's definitely not Sakura.

I'll explain to you. 

In fact, when Naruto talks to Sakura in japanese, he doesn't use any pronoun to say "you" he just calls her Sakura-chan when he's adressing directly to her. For example, during the promise of a life time, when we translated it as "Sakura-chan, you really like Sasuke huh." He was in fact saying サクラちゃんはサスケを本当に好きなんだろう。(sorry I don't remember the sentence exactly, but it's just to explain the thing) Well here, he's in fact saying "Sakura really likes Sasuke" but since it would be weird for us to see that while he's directly talking to her, we add a "you", but in japanese he doesn't use any "you" towards Sakura. 

And as another example, there is the recent episode in the anime:　その花を守るサクラちゃんを俺は守る。Litterally, "I'll protect the Sakura-chan who's protecting this flower" But in fact it's "I'll protect you, while you're protecting this flower."

While in that sentence he uses the pronoun お前 "omae" to say you, which is the pronoun he uses for all his peers. So it can't be Sakura.

I actually hope he does leave the village because that eliminates the possibility of Kishi doing off screen development in the time skip which NH is hoping for AKA an asspull

hmm, idk why people think it's unlikely that naruto would leave the village again. I'm not saying it will happen, but it is a probability.

Anyways, gotta say... I hate/love tumblr. Right now, I'm on the hate. People calling Sakura trash/useless & putting it on pairing tags. I LOL at the fact they had to write down on why they hate the character so much in a whole bible verse! 💁 it just means you care WAY too much about them. lol just sayin.

Agree completely. His way of saying -chan to Sakura is obviously not in a friendly way, it's because he likes her. 

But I don't think he would call Hinata with -chan if he had to date her, I think he would still call her the same. But I get what you're saying, just imagining him saying that seems like we're in a parallel world. After all, it was even made as a joke in Rocke Lee spin-off.

If naruto truly love sakura, he will not develop any romantic feeling to Hinata.

Actually, Sasuke's words imply he isn't goin with Naruto but protecting someone

but if he does so he'll be the biggest fool since Sasuke isn't interested in her

You know what's funny? In a lot of NH fanarts and fanfics, they make it so Naruto calls his love "Hinata-chan" but in reality "Sakura-chan" LOL  

they also act like the suffix "kun" is romantic *looks at all the non romantic relationships in anime where guys and girls call guys "kun" *   they also think "ba-chan" and "chan" are the same thing   fandoms are too crazy, I will never get involved in them again....

I don't know, it's quiete usual to see that in japanese, I mean calling someone by his name instead of "you", but the fact that Naruto does it all the time with Sakura is weird, so I suppose that yeah, it may be related to his feelings for her. Though I'm not sure. 

 

And yeah, I was about to say the same thing, if Naruto had to date another girl, rather it's Hinata or any other girl, he would have to stop calling Sakura Sakura-chan, which would be soooo weird and disturbing for the reader. I mean after spending a whole series composed of 700 chapters in which he always called her in a specific way, seeing him calling his main female character in another way would be too weird. And seeing Naruto dating a girl while calling Sakura with -chan would be even more weird to me. It's not like Sakura and Hinata with their -kun, -kun is a different case. It can be platonic (it is in fact in Hinata's case since she uses it with every boys), while -chan can't be platonic in Naruto's case.
