Oh! I didn't think about that! They're all over deviantart, and I've never done one...but I didn't think to call it anything else. I hope it doesn't put anyone off. I just thought it was a fun way to incorporate a preview I was going to run anyway. There's more about it in the notes at the bottom.... Maybe I should move the info to the top? I hate those polls for story direction, and I would hate for anyone to think I'd do that. Sort of a betrayal of reader's trust, and all that.

edit: I added the definition and clarified it a little more. We'll see how it goes!

I think that anybody that reads either the poll or the notes at the bottom will figure out that it's not about story direction. I just added that bit because it's also a pet peeve of mine so I was pretending to be an alarmist. (It's amusing in my own mind, but I'm not sure how it translates into the real world.)

And the explanation is pretty good at the bottom. I just went straight to the poll and then looking up the definition, even before reading the chapter. So by the time I'd gotten to the notes, I knew what it was, but I think that explanation gives enough out of context. I definitely wouldn't move the author's notes up to the top. I usually just tune those out when they're at the top and go straight into the story, possibly going back and read them afterwards. Having them at the bottom makes that easier.

ETA: But you can change it if you want. I assume that it'll still be pretty short.

I added a smidge more at the top, including that the preview was about Naruto and that the notes were at the bottom. So I've covered all the bases. Now if readers want more info they know where to look. I haven't left them scratching their head before the story even starts!

Sakura is so compeltely different that the only things similar are her name, hair color and teacher, shes been turned into a complete Slut and seductress. Narutos a pimp daddy (literally since he fathered Shions child) and has had several girlfriends, this after confessing his love to Sakura.

Whole stories hard to read for that reason.

Thanks for the warning, dislike that kind of so called AU as much as the bashing attempted semi-canon fics. Folks if the characters are nothing like they are in the manga, don't even bother attaching the names, just write your own story with names you come up with yourself.

Ill give him this much, I dont think hes actively bashing the characters even Karin whom he portrays as a fangirl is more of the classic mistaken stereotype of her then an active dislike.

Uh huh, like characters in a bad porno or gangsta rap song. No thanks. Writing female characters as "hos" or "sluts" and males as "pimp daddies" has no appeal to me. Shallow stereotypes are dull as well. As I said, if someone wants to write stories where the characters act nothing like themselves (and are just stereotypes out of a bad porno, just come up with your own names. Writers like that just slap character names on their characters to try to build up their review counts. Go to any fandom with any kind of romantic pairing and you'll find that kind of nonsense going on. Frankly, it's on the level of the porn fanart with Disney characters

I have to agreed we all have our own opinion but its not necssary to insult the author's writting. I understand that the characters are OC and its good to read a NS story with the characters acting in cannon manga, however just because they are OC doesn't mean the story is bad. To me it depends on the plot of the story and to me its good.

I like stories where Sakura is very strong (not quite in Naruto's level) and she can put a good fight. Kishi should at least take some notes and give her more fighting spot light.

Catsi's description is plenty enough, and I've seen this type fic over and over in Naruto fandom and in other fandoms. What I said is not "insulting". What's offensive and insulting is what this writer has done to the character of Sakura and Naruto. Think of Kishimoto, how repulsed he would be to see his characters written that way. It's profoundly wrong to write Sakura as "a complete slut" and Naruto as "pimp daddy". Kishimoto was so opposed to sexual objectification of Sakura that he felt very uncomfortable drawing her in a bikini for Shonen Jump's summer cover around three years ago- and that's with Sakura then being a 16 year old. How do you think he'd feel about something like what this writer has done to her?

It's cookie cutter porn, plain and simple. Slap names of characters from a fandom onto your generic porno story and presto- reviews.

If the story's so fantastic then there's no need to use someone else characters in a grossly and offensively out of character manner.

Even if I do agree that writers might as well slap on new names to the characters they've taken so far OOC, I have to agree that fanfic is art & art cannot be objectified. Only if Kishi were to legally take action on such an issue, would it ever stop (cease to be posted). If he did so, he'd just be another author name on fanfic.net's list of material fans cannot touch. That would be a very sad day for ALL of us.

I don't enjoy seeing any Naruto character in a 'porno' type fic, as ciadhra put it, but its there & cannot be helped unless Kishi does something. As a fanfic writer, I cannot find it in myself to bash another author. All I can do is respectively look away from the material.
