You forgetGaara had sane siblings, and he had an uncle who made it clear hurting people was wrong so he had a moral compass. After his Uncle tried to kill him he became evil and started killing people. Sob Story =/= Killing People
-siblings were afraid of him
-he was treated as a monster by pretty much everyone
- his "iruka" tried to kill him
- influenced a lot by shukaku
So Id say you are being quite insensitive towards Gaara; its understandable why he was the way he was until he met Naruto.
And by far his "sob story" is by far one of the most effective in relation to the storyline
Its also strange how you excuse Sasuke for some things and doesnt do with gaara, I believe you let your personal bias affect some of your statements

Well it's not like Gaara's siblings were squeaky clean angels that were wronged by their murderous psychotic younger brother. Kankuro was holding up a small Academy child by the ends of his shirt and was threatening to kill him just because he was bumped into. Some time later, Temari mocked those two Rain shinobi in the Forest of Death moments before they were viciously killed when neither one posed a threat and had surrendered. They both were literally crying and begging for their lives.
When you're threatening to murder someone based on such flimsy, unjustifiable pretenses or are reveling in the terror of other people then something is fundamentally wrong with you. Kankuro and Temari may not have been scarred like their brother was, but they certainly held a dispassionate view of life back then and were needlessly violent in their methods. Even Hiruzen made a note of the Sand shinobi being dangerous, and this was before Gaara's match when Temari fought Tenten off-screen.
Interestingly enough, no one makes any comment about this or tries to hold the Sand Siblings accountable after the Chunin Exams. Their personalities make a complete 180 degree turn alongside Gaara when he's reformed for no reason, despite the fact that Naruto nor anybody else made any efforts to change them. They just reappeared in later arcs with a patient and more amiable personality. I suppose Kishi just expects us to look at their actions during the Chunin Exams as being water under the bridge like the killing of those two spectators in the hallways of the exam stadium by Gaara's hand.

I think its more like the S.siblings were always afraid of gaara so they abided by his bloodlust, after he mellowed out then so could they

I don't like how she looks on the cover too. Kishi made it a point to show that all the characters look either miserable or tired. Look at Naruto for example. Where is his sunshine smile? In RTN, Minato was still young and handsome in his forties. So is Kakashi. Naruto looks older than either one of them. And Sakura, Ino, Tenten, Temari, they all look tired and worn out. The only one who stayed young was Hinata. That was one of the reasons I thought the LAST must have happened in Hinata's IT. I still believe so, but we'll never find out for sure.
Yes, I completely agree. They look so unhappy. And it's so across-the-board, all the characters are disappointed in some way, that it can't be just a fluke. Kishimoto intentionally made them look older, tired and disappointed on some level. There were no happy endings. There was no surpassing of the previous generations. There was none of the big satisfaction in seeing Naruto achieve his goals. The last time we see Naruto acting like himself was when he was speaking to Sakura at the end of the battle, thanking her. The next time he is stern with Sasuke and then it's years later and he's stern with Bolt. Naruto's happy character was just done away with.
Yes, the only one who stayed young and dewy and happy looking was Hinata. A strong case could be made for the whole thing being Hinata's IT, or any of chatte's magnificent theories. The ending is so incongruent with the rest of the story. And the only one who seems to benefit the most is Hinata.
###
As for the rumor that the novel really focuses on SS's shortcomings and Sakura's wishing Sasuke was different, I can easily see how the rumor could be true. They have no reason to treat Sakura equally as Hinata. The two pairings are not seen as the same, and there seems to be a big push to make Sakura irrelevant.
So to hear that they have written Sakura as yearning in some small way for what Naruto and Hinata have makes sense. They are going to try to put down SS in any way they can. It can't be NH and SS are equally blissfully happy. Sakura's ends up a single mom who wishes for what NH has. Sasuke is not even roped in on the blame or the pain. Just Sakura.
NH has to be the top, idyllic couple. SS has to take the back seat. And framing it this way, where Sakura is the one wishing for more, while Sasuke clearly is doesn't care enough to stick around for a relationship, is just another form of Sakura bashing from Kishimoto's handlers. Even in her own novel.

But to the siblings, Gaara wasn't even present when Kankuro threatened Konohamaru (even Sasuke was unable to pick up on his presence) and I doubt Gaara was holding a proverbial gun to Temari's head so she could forcibly partake in torturing others. Complacency through intimidation isn't the same as embracing the cruelty itself for your own satisfaction. That's what Temari and Kankuro did. They intentionally put themselves out there with no coercion from Gaara.
I'm wondering if this attitude doesn't stem from the same kind of societal corruption that tainted Kumogakure and made Zabuza into the murder-happy freak who stared gleefully off into space at the thought of killing so many people at the academy.

And I disagree with the proverbial gun statement since its a fact the S.siblings lived in danger of being killed by Gaara
And Temari is ruthless against her enemy it just happens that konoha became their ally afterwards so we didnt saw much of it

Assholish? Calling people names and acting unpleasant is assholish. Early Part 1 Sasuke and even Naruto sometimes was like that. Kankuro demonstrated a streak of cruelty and aggression to small children that he didn't even know. Had he actually gone through with his threats, he would be branded as a murderer and I would expect the Konoha judicial system to hold him accountable.
So living in danger of being killed entails killing small foreign children whom Gaara has never met before and couldn't care less about. Why does it matter to Gaara if his siblings became cruel and aggressive? The only thing he cared about was himself. So long as they didn't harass him or become a nuisance then he probably wasn't concerned about what they did on their own time.

I just thought the changes in the S.siblings felt organic thanks to gaara's own development but maybe you are right regarding kankuro early self
He was afraid of gaara but then again he was cruel too

Kishi went to Olive Garden where he got Salad's name, he went to walmart get a mop that had a sunflower picture on it which is how he got Himawari, he also watched Bolt while eating a Burrito and an apple when he picked Bolt's name and stemFailed attempt at copying Elvis Presly if you ask me.
