i suddenly raised the heroine thing topic as what I was wondering was that

consider if SS happens in manga, it will probably demote her role

and that may give Hinata a chance to have a superior role in movie



that what was the purpose of Sakura???

it's kinda wierd

even if SS happens in the movie, then still NH will have good chances & Hinata will definitely have superior role



so ...would kishi, in his defence, say that he changed the heroine? ??

The heroine in a shonen manga is not the one that saves the day, but the one that saves the main character. That is what Sakura's role always was. She was meant to save Naruto from himself and from outside events. It is not always a simple thing, but she has completed her role. She saved him a lot to be honest and not just by "taking the bullet for him." I am sorry, but other than what people keep saying there are more ways to save someone without having you risk your life for them.

Naruto's movie design is a bit of a dispointment, he still doesn't look like an adult, he looks like an highschooler.
And Sakura looks like she's 14.

That's one of Pierrot's greatest faults - their inability to consistently match up their art style with Kishi's. Some might applaud the nuances of these two different forms of media, but I personally don't look at it as a positive when your artwork is warping a positive interpretation into something negative.
 

Too bad, because Kishi's sketchs of Sakura were good (except for the fat ass)

Really? She's proportionally smaller than her schoolmates. That sketch makes Sakura looked trimmed down. Kishi appears to be flaunting Ino's more than anyone, in my opinion.

Exactly! And it connects with the idea that strength isn't just physical, but mental and emotional, as well. Interestingly, in the Shounen I've seen, the female leads were always depicted as being more emotionally mature and, dare I say it, intelligent than their male counterparts, especially their love interests. Conversely, many of these stories emphasize the emotional/mental growth of the male lead over everything else, and, as a character-driven story, we can see that here as well. It's as though the action is a mean to the end of seeing them grow as people, more than as fighters. The whole goal is to establish your characters as well-rounded people.

I didn't like Ino's personnaly. But I'm an Ino fangirl, so maybe my expectations were too high.

 

Shino and Kiba however...   Hopefully SP won't mess up with them.

Yeah. They were always meant to be the symbol of strength for the main male character. This is why I cannot understand why people claim sexism on this sometimes. I understand that the girl doesn't get to do alot in terms of fights or damage dealing, but there is more to strength than just being the Incredible Hulk and smashing everything you come across.

In my case, the complaint about sexism, comes from how girls in love are depicted.

 

It's painful to see Sakura and Karin apparently not knowing about self respect.

 

Also I didn't like the way Konan was humiliated by Jiraya. And Kurenai's dad speech.

I wouldn't say that Sakura has no self-respect, though. She has shown an ability to stand up for herself. For example, when Naruto told her to take a break, she firmly contested that, which he acknowledged. He didn't even mean it in a demeaning way, but she still told him off. Even with Sasuke, we see her call him out at times. Of course, Sakura's behavior around Sasuke most of the time simply serves to emphasize the negative effect he has on her, I feel. She can be herself around Naruto, whereas she's more guarded and insecure around Sasuke. 

 

Karin also has a bit of a mouth on her, and she has challenged Sasuke quite a bit, if memory serves. Sure, she goes back to him, but it's on her own terms, and she largely can put up a fight.

Yup... plus I saw there it said to be covering a number of 200+ jutsus and so... This smells more of a DB to me than a simple fanbook... especially from the way it looked...
