Yeah but that was pretty obvious, Gildarts with the exception of the last ark stay out of things, maybe because he is so much stronger than the rest that Hiro doesn't consider it fair to include him in the fighting...But he does know the secret of FT, so maybe that's why he was kept away, so the reality of Fairy Tail lives on...or something.

I was going to post it this morning but I didn't had the time. Yeah, when I realized it was a silent chapter I knew Mashima was using the same idea as Kishimoto. This chapter wasn't really impressive. The only thing I noted is that it reminds me a lot of Dragon ball. The same concept: Guy travels around, finds a village harassed by an ugly monster, then he goes into a cave, kick it's ass and saves the day.

That's true. But you have to remember that last week these side stories were stated as part of Mashima's experimentation. Quite honestly, it's not something mind-blowing or emotionally moving like Naruto's. But however, Mashima made a good choice in trying out new stuff. Every storyteller should always try something new to improve themselves. And I think this chapter delivered in terms of purpose.

That said, it's still a good chapter nonetheless. It may not be as great as Naruto's, but it still is relaxing in a sense. It feels refreshing, if I had to say.

Also, I think Mashima actually plans on using this technique again in the future at either the end of this arc or the series' end.

I guess it wasn't a full chapter, but I think I remember Mashima using silent panels for Lisanna's reunion with Elfman and Mira. That was definitely one of the more emotional scenes of the manga (heck, it made Natsu and Lisanna's reunion look a like a joke in comparison), so I kinda hope he tries it again. Maybe not for something this filler-y, but maybe to add impact to another emotional scene.

About Gildartz, I really hope Dreamer's suggestion doesn't happen (I'm honestly still angry about what happened to Kenpachi) but part of me doesn't want to see him return for a while. I still think Laxus becoming Guild Master would be a more interesting development. With how much time he seems to be spending with Mavis and his grandpa now, it kinda seems like he's being groomed for it.

just finished a semi marathon watching of the first 48 episodes english dubbed. The first season if you will.

lots of fun and Ill admit I find myself a fan of the series now. hae to check out funimation or anilinks to catch th next 48 subbed since they have dubbed yet.

lots of FMA brotherhood alumni in the series.

I can't beleive the saber master killed the poor thing...hope that shot destroyed him. Though from what we've seen of Minevra she's not exactly all sunshine and daisy's either so it could be bad either...but looks can be decieving.

I am changing my opinion, and I think it's future Levi behind the hood, or even alternate world Levi, I found it strange that the person mentioned how their handwriting was bad, so maybe this was to throw us off the possability it was Levy, though it might still be Lucy as she was a writer, so again to throw us off it being her.

Okay chapter. I have to admit that I was surprised at what happened to Lector but I really didn't feel sorry for him or Sting. I'm glad Giemma got what he deserves though. I also find it weird that the hooded woman just coincidentally dropped her notebook that contained all those clues XD. I hoping to see what happened to the dragons next week or very soon.

I really hope Genma (Jiennma? Translators gotta make up their minds...) gets back up. I need a whole chapter or two of Sting beating that coward down before I'm satisfied. One does not simply kill cute talking cats and get away with it!

Also, I can't believe it took me this long, but I just now realized the significance of July 7th being the promised day. That was the same day the dragons disappeared, 7/7/777 if I remember right. Mashima used the same idea in Rave Master, with several huge events in history happening on the same date, so I'm surprised it took me so long to notice.

I'm not so sure about the Mystery Person being Lucy anymore, with how bad her hand-writing seems to be. Wendy maybe? I guess it could just be a red herring, but I dunno.

Yeah, I really like the dub so far. Some of the voices seem a little off (I still can't get used to Levy's voice, I was expecting her to sound as meek as her seiyu makes her sound, instead of the sorority girl thing), but most of them I like better than the original. I loved hearing so many members of the FMAB cast, but it was also cool hearing Chris Sabat's Elfman and Pat Seitz' Laxus. I can't wait to watch the Edolas Arc in English!

I think Fairy Tail is one of those anime that just sounds better in English to me. I'm not sure if it's the Western motifs, the (mostly) high-quality voice actors, or just hearing the characters' names pronounced the way Mashima originally intended (versus the way a natural Japanese speaker would pronounce the names; Ruushi vs. Lucy for example), but the FT dub just sounds a lot more natural to me.

Of course, that's just my opinion. I'm usually a lot more lenient towards anime dubs than a lot of fans seem to be.

After reading the chapter I noticed something interesting with the mysterious girl. She used her mouth to open the pen so she could write, and I also noticed that she was using her left hand to do so.

This makes me believe that this is a future Levi from an even further future than the one we saw last time in chapter 297, since at that moment she was still writing with her right arm. I think that eventually future Levi would loose her right arm and would have no option than to use her left one, but since she's naturally right handed her writing would come off as a little messy, hence that comment of bad handwriting form that guy at the end of this chapter.

Since we've discovered that future Levi was the narrator of this arc all this time, that some chapters ago we saw a flash-forward of her writing in despair, and that now we see the mysterious girl also writing; this leads me to believe that the mystery girl is indeed future Levi. Maybe writing stuff down is Levi's personal way to cope with all that happened in the dark future.

Dragon dominated humans, until an dragon went against their ideals and helped the humans (Paarthunax) and then proceded to teach human magic to fight dragons (shout), wich led to not only the fall of the evil dragons, but also the good ones. Since Mashima is an RPG lover, I wouldn't be surprised if he got many references from Skyrim.

And why not? I'm pretty sure Kishimoto didn't knew how Naruto would end when he first created it.

I suspect he had a vague idea, but then fleshed it out after Skyrim came out because he liked this idea better.

From what I understand about how mangaka pitch a story to a magazine, they have a fairly defined beginning, a fairly defined end, some highlights along the middle, but the rest of it gets made up 3-4 months before its published, as they develop and adapt the story.
