It has plenty to deal with it being a shonen. As a shonen the main focus is the action, and not romance. A media's targeted audience very much influences what it will be about and its limitations.
The shonen I have read and aware of do not focus on romance, and some go as far as to randomly throw characters together just for the sake of it with little build up between the two.
You may be confusing shoujos with shonens.
Kishimoto's work has a lot of romance for a shonen, in my opinion his effort and attempt to work with the limitations perhaps imposed on him have earned much respect from me. It's not the best, but he utilized creative devices and dynamics with his romance subplot.
Naruto obsessed over Sasuke too, so at this point what you are trying to get at this completely moot. Both of these characters in our own standards should be considered crazy. Let's be honest, Naruto and Sasuke's relationship in our standard should be considered homosexual as well.
You sound like you are expecting too much from a Shonen.

I completely loathe the idea of Sasuke poking Sakura's forehead because if he does, IT will be the call back to Sakura asking for her forehead in chap 3. which means ''naruto will compliment/kiss her forhead'' just got flushed down the toilet so hard.

Dragonball, YYH, FMA are all shonens...and have al done a lot better than Naruto....Clearly you have total black and white vision if you think being a shonen is at all a good excuse for a sh*tty romance resolution.
Dragonball had zero romance and just characters thrown together just to make more Saiyans.
YYH and FMA had very direct romance, and was not the main focus or something I consider well written. There was no extreme dynamics like that in Naruto where we are given a love triangle.
Shonen is a perfect excuse for a kitten romance resolution. Again, romance is not what the series focuses on.
If Naruto was a ROMCOM or a shoujo you would have more grounds to complain. What's worse you are complaining without even reading the last two chapters. You would think you would have stopped reading this at the start when Sakura and the other girls fiended after Sasuke, yet you continued and now are confused why the romance plot still is crappy.

Sasuke poking Sakura's forehead makes no sense. I don't believe it's him.
Me either, even if he's broken the Curse of Hatred.

I'm excited for the ending and glad it's soon over.
Whatever happens this is Kishi's choice even if it's SS which may be hinted right now.

You mean the arrow from Naruto to Sakura in terms of love?
You've got to be freaking kidding me.

Why do people NOT ship these two? I just don't get it.
Probably cause they hate Sakura. When she's probably the most developed female character in the whole show.
I respect Hinata, but Sakura deserves some too.

is SO...
xD Sakura's forehead is something that is only significant for 2 people in this manga: Sakura and Naruto, its value is only appreciated by those two.
It makes sense to think that Evil suggesting is Sakura's forehead, the fact that he could not find a picture says a lot
It makes sense to Naruto, when he says that this going to be many fanarts
Now if Sasuke as everyone mentions is also good because it means a friendly farewell and probably bring context of Chapter 3 to Naruto xD
When someone asks to evil why Sasuke do that and be forgiven (fan opinion), Evil replied that there is no reason to Sasuke do that ... (is not Sasuke)
for Sasuke her forehead means nothing...
well my opinion
it is with the heart as we see correctly; what is essential is invisible to the eyes

Wow you're argument is somehow getting worse with every response i'm intrigued how much more credibility you could possibly lose with the next response
Whether its direct or not doesn't change the fact that they did it well, same with Dragonball hell Gohan and Videl have a lot more going for them and they ad a lot less screentime. You don't need a shojo to write good romance and you certainly don't need to be one to not kitten up and completely ruin any credibility of any of the pairings and quite frankly you should be feeling pretty dumb to think that to begin with...
Heisenberg, at this point I cannot take you seriously.
You insult my argument, as well as myself, in an effort to try and gain a foot hold in this debate. Notice how I continue to show courtesy and instead offer counter points instead of attacking you directly? Please show me the same respect I'm trying to show you.
There was no "good" romance in any of these Shonen that you listed. It was direct and to the point and hardly developed with parallelism or foreshadowing. Two characters started off with some basic chemistry and then obviously ended up together. This is not entertaining nor surprising.
In terms of shonen, Naruto has the best build up between two of the main characters relationship, hands down. It also appears to offer the most dynamics, which brings you even to this forum to question and speculate Kishimoto's end game plan. You are angry probably about the fact that Kishimoto's work tends to be quite stereotypical to females. Which it is, hence why Sakura and Hinata both can be unbearable with their undying devotion to the men they "love".
