Sawyer7mage said that he thinks Hinata might have hurt her left eye when she fell in that teaser. If Hinata and Naruto actually really got together, to him it would be a special message to the audience b/c appearance doesn't matter when it's about love... Yeah, sawyer, not so sure about that.
That's nice and all, but the two injuries are incomparable. Naruto has lost over half of his arm in a brutal explosion fighting his "best friend". What's the extent of Hinata's injury? A bruise around the eye? A cut on the eyelid? If I were Naruto (or Kakashi for that matter), I would be shaking my head in disgust.
According to several sources, Kishimoto is credited with the story concept for this movie, so I don't see how we can blame its Hinata-centric nature on Studio Pierrot.
I will be very surprised if this movie turns out to mean anything more than any of the others. It may be Kishimoto's story, like RtN, and may have some canon (manga) elements, but that doesn't mean the intent is that this film content is canon or a continuation of the manga. That's never been true before, so why now?
Even with RtN, Kishimoto said it gave him a chance to introduce some characters and do some things that he wasn't able to fit into the manga. Does anyone really think that would include pairing stuff?
As I said before, the whole thing smacks of giving Hinata more focus because she was not the focus of the manga. Hinata and her fans (and the Hyuga, for that matter) will get more screen time, but in a story that doesn't impact manga events.
Kishi might be spearheading the overarching plotline and critical increments to the movie, but I'm skeptical if he's directly involved in every minute detail pertaining to the posturing of the characters, the intensity of their expressions, colouring (the blue Rasengan sticks out most noticeably), possible minor interactions to pad out the length, and of course the advertisement plan which I would assume Pierrot is involved with.
There's a myriad of other characters and plotlines that endured since the beginning that would be far more compelling than this. I would have personally preferred seeing Orochimaru's ambitions coming to a head with Team 7. He's probably THE most iconic villain of the series and it's not like he's recanted his sick and twisted ways. There have already been quotes given that have reaffmired his intention to continue with his experiments and try and take over Sasuke's body. If anyone deserves a movie or story arc dedicated to them, it's Oro.
