This Naruto explaining that Sakura is his girlfriend to Minato is precisely the reason why I'm confused as to if their relationship might have started off-panel. And to be honest I don't like this idea. I want to see full how they become canon. I sincerely hope Kishi doesn't take the Asuma/Kurenai route where the start of their relationship was off-paneled.

Adding to the fact that the previous times they were asked the question both denied or Naruto was just really embarrassed and goofing, which is contrary to his seriousness in 631.

The red sun is an Egyptian thing as far as I know, the Horus guy, but I wonder if Japanese culture has something to do with it?!

They won't be. Kishimoto will have some kind of pairing finalization at the end of the series. This chapter hardly made NaruSaku canon, however, it did show Kishimoto's intentions. I believe Naruto and Sakura will have a moment to themselves sometime near the end. Don't fret.

lol. No offense to any of you, but I think some of you are thinking way too deeply to the point of paranoia.

Just relax and enjoy the ride. I am not worried about anything. In fact, I can't wait to see what happens next.

Also I just realized something that eased my burden about this "redemption" of sorts. It could quite be possible he is not going to kill off Konoha because he wants to be Hokage to enslave it. Make the town into his own image and those who can't conform will be killed to set examples.

Well, that's how I see it anyway. Sasuke wants to be a dictator like Stalin. Probably worse than just wiping the town out to be honest.

I doubt it will happen off-panel. Its better to let the ships sink while watching the last moments of narusaku becoming canon. ( a kiss or something)

Doing a confession by itself isn't commitment unless the person replies in the same manner.
Usually in Japan, confession happens not for the sake of expressing the feelings, but more as a step to get in a relationship.

Rock Lee kind of confessed to Sakura in part 1, saying, "Let's become a couple!". To that Sakura answered, "No way." In this case, Rock Lee's confession failed to get commitment from Sakura's side.

If Sakura confesses to Naruto, "I love you" and Naruto replies the same, they are basically couple status.
Sakura did a confession to Naruto, and whether they are dating or not depends on how he answered/will answer to Sakura's confession.
And he kind of answered to that confession by saying they are more or less a couple.
Hence, NARUTO answering to Minato's question INSTEAD of Sakura. Because he is the receiving end of the confession, and the burden to confirm couple status is on him.

That could be the case if Kishi went the NH route. Because they have a flat and very sunshiny relationship.

But NS has so many conflicts and ups and downs that needs to be brought up again.
Sakura's forehead, perhaps the confession, Kushina comparison(done ) and Sakura's mental journey on how to love Naruto and not Sasuke.

You remember when he died first , is dad said to him that he still have something to do before he truly die. Do you think << that thing >> is to safe Obito from darkness ? I bet it is, because apart from this i dont really know what other role Kakashi can take in the story

@ramenamnitsu, how are the Japanese taking this chapter? About the Kushina comparison, Minato's comment, team 7 again? Are they NS fans or what? : )

I browsed the Japanese websites. And mostly they were either mad about Naruto accepting Sasuke back again, or they were happy that they get to see Team 7 fight together again. There aren't much talk about pairings honestly. The only pairing related thing I read were some few NS fans going "NARUSAKU CAME!!" and a few NH fans being disappointed and saying that why Naruto chose Sakura instead of Hinata.

About the Kushina comparison, regardless of what pairing you ship, people agree to the parallels of Kushina-Sakura.
Anti-NS will use the similarity to say that Naruto and Sakura are like siblings because Sakura is like his mother.
NS will use the similarity to say that Naruto and Sakura are the next generation of MinaKushi.

OK, so since we're on the subject of Minato's statement, I'm going to try, albeit with my basic understanding of Japanese phrases and text structure, to debunk this to remove any and all ambiguity from this line - to silence the few remaining nay-sayers out there (nobody in here, of course )

Now, from my understanding, the word for 'friends' (I'm assuming it refers to singular and plural) is Tomodachi and is indescriminate of gender, so in this case the text in Minato's speech bubble would 've read as somthing like 'Naruto no tomodachi' or 'Naruto's friend(s)' (if anyone knows further about this and wishes to correct me, feel free ).

Kanojo, is to refer to a female in the 3rd person i.e 'her' or 'she'. However, it has also taken on the meaning of 'girlfriend' i.e. female romantic partner. An example - 'Ore no kanojo wa utsukushii desu'(let me know if that's right) literally means 'My 'her' is beautiful', with 'kanajo' meaning girlfriend in this case.

Now, on to the panel. I'm not sure how to post this as an image, so I'll provide the link to the panel in it's raw form. (recommend opening this in a seperate window so you can have both pages on screen).

Tomodachi is written in Kanji as 友達, and in Hiragana as ともだち.
Kanojo is written in Kanji as 彼女, and in Hiragana as かのじょ.
