I heard of this series
Why the ending was bad in your opinion?
spoiler about the series
Yeah pretty much this, I'm going from spoilers mainly but the MC never showed any interest in the person he ended up with, every other book showed him chasing after the collegue, yet last book does a complet BS ending, I'm so glad that this LN series had not been translated and I had wasted my time reading all 17 LN's. I just found out that the LN's are published by Shiesha, the same company that publishers Naruto, Another nail in the freaking coffin, with that publisher.
I worry for Japan.

They are running out of steam.
Today, the most popular thing come from korea. Even then korea popularity begun to decrease(not as popular as say 10 or 5 years ago).
I think the next hot thing from east Asia will come from china.
Have you read otaku musume?

I'm not even talking about their industry, I'm talking about their society, you read these fics and you can't help but feel men don't interact with women much, because they don't seem to have a clue about relationships at all.
I've heard of it, I planned on reading it a while back but the artwork put me off, and I'd read Usagi Drop around that time and that had really put a wet blanket over my desire to read good wholesome manga about a single father and his struggles to raise a daughter. Is it worth reading? It's not going to end up as an incestious pitfall is it?

I don't think what the media show and the reality in Japanese society always the same. In this case the portrayal of relationship in a shonen harem romcom drama. I don't think that all/general Japanese men is like a make main character in that novel. But I think it would be better if we ask Japanese themselves how relationship in their society work.

I don't mean it like that, I'm sorry I've had a migraine this past few days so my thought process is all over place. I never meant to imply all Japanese men are like that, but constantly reading about the rapidly declining birth rate and studies showing fewer and few men and women in Japan care to start a family, I never took much notice of that first but seeing these stories ending in such manner you can't help but start to wonder if there is moor truth in Japans troubled birth rate, because you do get the impresion that there is a discord between the two genders, more so than other societies.
Um...Usagi Drop ended with the MC marrying his adopted daughter, the adopted daughter who is the actual daughter of his grandfather, he married his biological aunt.

Little reminder: The US produced a movie called Fifty Shades of Grey.

At this rate, romance is good when it's not romance genre.
Naruto is the main exception.

Korean dramas are still good! But yeah, romance movies and shows in America are usually low sellers and nobody really watches them. As for shoujos, I haven't read any really good new ones lately.
But Naruto? Naruto is a good romance manga by far. Speaking of which, remember when Kishimoto said that his next manga would be a romance?

I understand bad storywriting but for me, stories that are aimed at a younger demographic, need to be more socially aware and should not include messages that could be detrementle to their mental development.
Shades of Grey is aimed at adults, and adults should know the difference between fiction and reality, though I do think with Fifty the kitten story is not the fault here (because ther are housands of kitten stories like these out there, you just have to see the crap that's popular on ff.net,) but the social acceptable message this story is being portrayed, I don't think the media has done a good enough job in warning the public about content of the movie, my sister in law watched the movie thinking it was a angsty romance, she was shocked at the display of abuse and rape in the movie...I first heard of the series when it became the best seller, and yet I'd never heard of it, and up until I read posts on Chatte Tumblr page I thought the series was just soft porn, that women liked to read. I didn't see anything wrong with it, never did I think the plot was as disturbing as it was.
The issue I had with Naruto and Papa's ending is it's not aimed at the younger more impressional demographic, both stories it was a girl who liked a boy and the boy never showed any interest and you get to the end and that's the final pairing. In both the male charactor is seen struggling trying to impress the girl they like, and we see the girls feelings change, yet somehow that magicially becomes non-existant, and we don't get an explaination, Funny thing was I went to AnimeSuki to confirm the end and one of the first posts I read was comparing the two endings.
At this rate, romance is good when it's not romance genre.
Romance is good when the charactors are treated as humans and not a measure of a persons popularity.
