Disagree with you there, i agree with TacticalFox, Sasuke departure triggered an event where Sakura truly acknowledged Naruto and their relationship romatically wise started from there, and more importantly Sakura found a new resolution to her life which doesnt include wanting to be noticed by Sasuke.
Sakura was very much after Sasuke, and Sasuke however was begining to accept Sakura as a teammate (without his cold behavior) before, until Itachi and Orochimaru came and screwed up with Sasuke to a point that he didnt cared about anything anymore, which even lead to the infamous moment where he broke the plate where Sakura was using to serve apples to him.
Not saying althought that SS would happen but Sakura had little to no reasons to move on or even shift her feelings for Naruto, she acknowledged Naruto as teammate but could not even believe on his power until Sasuke left and from there NS started to being developed, he had some ground before but not on romantic terms.
If things were kept that way open ending was pretty much the likely outcome.

Sasuke wasnt a nice guy either but also wasnt that cold monster before the events of Itachi and Orochimaru.
I've seen characters like Sasuke on other mangas like The Sacred Blacksmith while on that the Sasuke there got paired with the main heroine it was due to the fact he at first was cold with her but later acknowledged her and supported her, which was something Sasuke never did and that lacked for SS to be a valid pairing in my opinion.

I disagree, Since Sakura-Chan was maturing anyways I believe she probably she would have figured it out for herslef that Sasuke ain't good for her. I agree with Chatte in what she said, she wants everything Naruto gave to her, the love, the care, the attention, the pampering, him always being there etc, thats just how her personality is.  since Sasuke wasn't giving that to her, and since I believe to myself that she didn't love him to begin with, she's not stupid, she would have figured it out on her own, after a while of Sasuke treating her like dog kitten.

Just because he's not that evil anymore doesn't mean he's not completely wrong for her , that's not an excuse for the things he has done to her.And i would say that SS is utterly and completely negative as a whole trough out the manga that it is even disgusting to just look at it and their interactions together . I would say 3 attempts of murder , insulting Sakura and putting her down on almost every occasion he got , placing a burden on her and not caring about her feelings and even barely talking to her its more than negative for this so called paring that i don't even have a words for it . In fact this is what it's called being in a abusive relationship and it's a real thing in this world , there are so many womens and young girls that are going thru this and supporting something like this sickens me to no end , and this is exactly what SS is and represents . 
 
NH on the other hand its not so negative but when a girl has to put herself in a suicide mission every time just so the guy she admires, idolizes him and supposedly loves notices her and not to mention while she was stalking him noticed his pain his loneliness and didn't took the initiative to help him but instead she decided to draw strength from it you can bet in whatever you want that this paring is also negative it just not on the level of SS .

 
Um, you did read the rest of my post right? I said that the interactions between Sasuke and Sakura were little to none. Therefore Sasuke turing becoming an anti-hero is still not in SS favor. I did not mean that Sasuke is now suddenly the  ideal, wonderful husband for Sakura, I meant that the argument about her not choosing him because he is evil is out the the window now. I already know that Hinata is not for Naruto either but it has nothing to do with how limited their interactions are. It is because Naruto's feelings have not changed one bit for Sakura. Again I am not supporting SS and NH, I am pointing out that that though SS and NH will not happen or are not likely to happen at least, the other party that is truly preventing said pairings from happening have improved the circumstances a little. Not enough to say that the pairings will happen, but just a little that is noticeable. Despite  your opinions, you should acknowledge this at least.

Most definently as Sakura would have realized she cant do anything for Sasuke and Sasuke wouldnt have returned any feelings. She would have had closure.

Beside it's kishi way to solve sakura "I feel useless" conflict.

Unless hinata inform sakura that sasuke and naruto in danger.
