it just feels too coincidental that Pierrot would be portioning out this much screentime and publicity to Hinata while offering little to nothing for Naruto, Sakura, or any other characters. Their game plan appears to be to shove the Hyuga's #1 underdog down our throats as much as possible without consideration for what we may desire in terms of information regarding other characters.
According to several sources, Kishimoto is credited with the story concept for this movie, so I don't see how we can blame its Hinata-centric nature on Studio Pierrot.
I will be very surprised if this movie turns out to mean anything more than any of the others. It may be Kishimoto's story, like RtN, and may have some canon (manga) elements, but that doesn't mean the intent is that this film content is canon or a continuation of the manga. That's never been true before, so why now?
Even with RtN, Kishimoto said it gave him a chance to introduce some characters and do some things that he wasn't able to fit into the manga. Does anyone really think that would include pairing stuff?
As I said before, the whole thing smacks of giving Hinata more focus because she was not the focus of the manga. Hinata and her fans (and the Hyuga, for that matter) will get more screen time, but in a story that doesn't impact manga events.
