Personally, I can't help but feel that kishi did this on purpose (sakura's absence) in order to set something up for her.
Thoughts?

Same here. It's obvious that there's something up and we will see it soon.

It would have been such an easy moment for him to go, "See? There's Sakura's shining moment in this war! Character development, done!"
And yet he didn't, which seriously makes me feel that he's saving something much bigger for her.

its obvious naruto told sakura to heal others first. as she was busy so she couldnt heal naruto . so hinata took the chance.

It definitely was intentional from my perspective. Just about everyone noticed it, something Kishi probably guessed what would happen. And I wouldn't technically call this a damaging troll at all. Hinata was an underdeveloped character and still is if we're being literal, so why not cram a bunch of development in these few chapters and get it over and done with? I've said it before, I'll say it again. This War Arc has been dedicated to developing side characters from the start, Kishi's just continuing it. This is Hinata and most minor characters' last chance to shine. Since we got the big 615, finish it with a small popping shoulder back into place type of thing? Still, it's not like Pierrot's asspull logic of Hinata knowing medical ninjutsu. Sakura still has her professional healing arts that Hinata doesn't. After all, putting a shoulder back into place is pretty basic. Not much of a cause of concern.
Sakura's getting something bigger since she's the heroine. Still betting on that bigger development being related to Obito and Rin somehow.
And I never fail to notice this glaring double stand: The so-called "troll" in 617 is nothing compared to the one in 616. 615 was a massive NH moment, then downplayed immediately next chapter. Instead of criticizing us of getting trolled over a minor moment, they should look to themselves in 616. Arguing something weak like that is not smart IMO, it's better to say nothing at all.

This poorly animated gif depicts what I believe happened in that situation.

I don't see anything romantic about it, that is assuming you think that this is an accurate representation of what happened.

You know that the anime will probably extend it for much longer, right?

Wait, wasn't she healing kakashi at the time?? Otherwise she was absent, most likely going to tsunade.

Let's hope it takes a good amount of that chapter at the very least since they decided to choose that particular phrase instead of when Sakura claimed she would be just as lonely as Sasuke if he wasn't around. That confession really rubbed me the wrong way in certain parts.
By the way here are some panels that will be connected to that chapter:

It seems it will refer to the different kinds of love as well. Itachi's love for his family, Sakura's "love" for Sasuke, Sakura's care for Lee, and so on as the panels above indicate. Could anyone tell me when did the panel with Ino, Sakura and Lee happened? He's obviously in his medical robes because of his injuries but I can't pinpoint when that happened. Or at least let me know what they say in that panel.
EDIT:
Never mind about the chapter, I found it. It's 93

Dude, that chapter covers all the types of love. Sakura's love for Sasuke was going to inevitably show up. If I was in charge of that book even I wouldn't hesitate to include them. Those feelings are a huge part of her character development.
But keep in mind that the poster representing the chapter is referencing Sakura's opinion of Naruto so that could probably be the main focus in that chapter.

actually the main focus is the love triangle "Naruto Sakura and Sasuke" he pinpouted her confession to Sasuke because later it needs to bring up again to explain what happened with her character.
there are a lot of things that she claimed on that confession that turned out to be untrue.
Like saying she would feel lonely, that she cant be happy without him and so on, she even tried to leave everything behind to go with Sasuke.
I dont say that her feelings are played a major part of her development but the fact that her will to protect Naruto and Sasuke and also her will to help Naruto is that played the major part of her development.
Other parts are respective to other kinds of love but there is a great ammount for panels about this love triangle.

But the point is why is he bringing up part 1 events??? does he include recent events such as Sasuke's murder attempts affecting her opinion of Sasuke??

I also have to wonder.... what about Obito's?? Obito's love is probably the manga's most interesting subplot because of how it completely affects the story. I definitely would like to see the critic has to say about it. Also, if possible, I'd like to see him analyze in-depth how Kakashi is tied into all this. Might as well speculate on KakaRin.
I'd also like to say that there's definitely more to Obito's plan on seeing Rin again. Something tells me he still has one last ulterior motive.

The family that couldn't be.
