Naruto is popular enough that even the horrendous part I fillers managed to get ratings as high as the normal episodes. This movie, promoted as THE LAST Naruto movie ever and written by Kishimoto will surely do well, considering it's riding on the resurgence of the popularity of the series due to the manga ending. Also, RtN, it's predecessor, did well. Even if this story is essentially a NH fanfiction.

I would follow in the wise word of Nelson Munt, by pointing at them and saying "Ha Ha".

 

But this movie will sell, Nana Mizuki fans alone are enough to sell a few thousand tickets. However if this does not do aswell or much better RtN I'd consider it a failure, this is considered Canon, if the sales don't exceed the non-canon movie by a large margin, it's a sign that quite a few boycotted the movie.

Justify? I'm being rational about this, instead of throwing up conspiracy theories or being sexist towards a female character who ended up with the main character. I think a lot of people were looking for too much out of Naruto, and really, most of these people read it for free online anyway. The harassment of Kishi's assistant was juvenile and plain ignorant, and that petition? It saddens me how we're essentially the most childish part of the fandom right now.

Kishimoto flatly said Sakura couldn't change her love interest, but did just that with Naruto. It's the old "she's a slut if she isn't loyal to her man, but he's a stud if he's sleeping with more than one girl". How is it not sexist?

Ofcourse it's juvenile for people to Tweet assistants or make online petitions. But you're obviously underestimating the popularity if the series if you're surprised by it. Go to ANY celebrities' Twitter/ Instagram/ whatever. You'll find hundreds of people posting marriage proposals or some other harassing comment on every Tweet they made. It doesn't suddenly mean the entire fandom is at fault, does it?

The thing that had me laughing was this online petition. Really?! An online petition is about as threatening as a kitten. They've existed all the way back in Neopets times, and even then you'd be laughed at out of the the room. The one thing more sad than an online petition itself is coming across a person who think they matter.

He is sexist though. There's no way anyone can argue against that.

 

Sakura isn't the sole example, almost all of his females characters were treated poorly (Ino and Karin were actually made even more pathetic to make Sakura look better by comparison). The ones who didn't got a kitten ending anyway (Tsunade, Mei, Anko).

I'll say it again. Just because a popular actor stars in a movie, it doesn't automatically make the movie a box office hit.

Nana Mizuki is a voice actress, she wouldn't even have half the popularity of a popular actress. So tell me, how does this make sense? And before you say NH fanboys, they're only a small portion of the pairing fans (compared to KakaIru or NaruSasu) which itself is only a portion of fans in general who only reads the manga for the story.

Someone will watch it. Obviously. But it's not enough to be profitable.
