Well who else would it be? Naruto and Rob were pretty much the main heroes who were going to save the world despite being quite young and notably immature. Sakura and Talisa are both medics who share a romantic relationship with the hero.

If you're not talking about Naruto and Sakura then who are you talking about?

Yeah, I've come across that argument several times over the years, not just in relation to NaruSaku, but a few pairings, using a platonic bond like that of brother/sister to discredit romantic development. There's just nothing sibling-like in their relationship, you don't make proclamations of love to someone you view as a brother or sister, you don't stare lovingly/tenderly in their eyes, or say they're "more or less" your girlfriend. Not unless the person has a very skewed and messed up 'sibling' relationship.  But that's a whole other thing that is highly unlikely to show up in this manga.

 

Those people who say it’s a brother/sister relationship have certainly not read a manga or watch an anime where there is a real brotherly relationship. Because in anime, when a character consider another as his brother or his sister, he calls him/her “nechan/nichan”, there is an example in Naruto, Konohamaru calls Naruto “Naruto nichan”. So if someone were to say to me that Naruto and Sakura are like brother and sister, I would respond that if it was the case they would call each other “nechan” or “nichan”, well one of the mat least.

 

And you know, I already saw this argument push at an extreme, sometimes ago, there were people who really believed that Sakura was a hidden daughter of Minato, so then she would have really been Naruto’s sister and you know what it would implied... NS impossible! But this theory was throw off by road to ninja which revealed Sakura’s parents. 

 

I also greatly enjoyed that moment in 631 with Naruto's smile at Sakura's refusal to sit back and do nothing. It was a NS moment technically, but I also can't help thinking that maybe we look too deeply at Naruto's smile. He could've just been thinking about having Team 7 together again for this fight instead of how much he loves Sakura.

 

I dunno. I still consider it a step up in their development, but there's always that voice saying that might've just been more of a Team 7 moment instead of NaruSaku moment. Thoughts?

I wouldn’t consider that scene as a Team 7 moment, if Naruto was really thinking about Team 7, there would be a close up to Sasuke along with Sakura, but he’s out of this moment, we just see him from afar, just behind Naruto. The only 2 characters involved in this exchange of stares are Naruto and Sakura. Naruto looks straightly in Sakura’s eyes, and it makes him smile because he sees there her determination to fight.

 

I don’t see neither Naruto smiling because he loves her or whatever, to me he’s just happy that Sakura is so determined to be acknowledged as a sannin’s student as well trained as them. It makes him proud of her.

 

So my point is that if Naruto was thinking about Team 7 in that exact moment, there wouldn’t be a close up on Naruto and Sakura’s face there would be an entire view of Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke, just like the following scene where he said “Team 7 is back!”, but the close up one their faces shows that it was only about Naruto and Sakura at that time.

And as for the debate about rather or not should NS be angsty, I would add my two cents.

 

First, if angsty is taken in the sense of “suffering” and things like that, then we already have some NS angsty scene. There is for examples:

·         The POAL, we see through Naruto’s fake smile and through his shaking thumb, that he’s really suffering on the inside, plus the fact that he said he well knows Sakura’s suffering.

·         The 4 tails incident where Sakura runs at Naruto while crying because she realized Naruto is going to far because of the promise he made to her.

·         There is also the scene where Naruto is beating up by Kamui because he didn’t want to tell anything about Sasuke, after that, he didn’t want to be examined by Sakura, so she wouldn’t have see him like this and he wouldn’t have to explain why he was in this state.

·         And of course, the confession and the hyperventilation that followed it.

 

All theses scene to me are angsty, they are darker scene than we usually see. So yeah, NS can have some dark scenes, but only to an extent, what I mean is that you won’t have some super dark scene like you can see in fanfiction, it have to stay adequate to the canon story line and what is really appropriated in Naruto. That’s why, in my opinion, this idea of “red wedding” (I know it was just for fun, but it’s a good example) is absolutely impossible in the canon story.

There was a chance, but Kishi blew it recently. Tsunade/Dan is pretty much canon with the whole "Ill be waiting for you in the afterlife" speech.

 

Dan still loves her, what else would he say? It's not like Tsunade answered that they'll be together once she dies. Tsunade wanted to be with Jiraiya, and her seeing Dan again hasn't changed that.

Well...

I know that, but I was more referring to the deaths overblown as well as killing few main cast, though it doesn't have to be THAT similar. Just the concept of it, with one huge group getting backstabbed, literally and metaphorically, and to die will be Kakashi. Again, it doesn't have to be the exact.

 

Also, I posted Naruto's style since let's face it, Kishi won't do that way. That would be some Evagelion level of wtf. So here you go.

 

Naruto's "Red Wedding" (no bloodbath. Aw)

Fine, I'll go "realistic" route.

Madara is taken out and Naruto is unconscious. Many of the alliance are heavily weakened but alive. Sakura went to checkup on Naruto and begins to heal him. Everyone is celebrating. Sarutobi stares around the area and see how much it has changed. Suddenly, he looks at Orochimaru, feeling very uneasy because he's smiling in a vicious way.

Sarutobi checks his arms and realizes he has a seal ready to commence. He yells, "Orochimaru!" as people around hears with a questioned look. Sasuke says in his dark shade looks, "A new world begins now!" Orochimaru stopped Sarutobi, then Tobirama, then Minato, who tells Kakashi to run, and lastly, Hashirama, who was weakened by the black rods, so he can't control his power well. Edo Kages are now under Orochimaru's command, or should I say, Sasuke's.

If Kuruma's chakra still exist on everyone, Minato will be used to take them out of it, though only possible if Minato still have Dark Kuruma. Everyone strikes at Sasuke and others as Hashirama and Tobirama attack them against their will, some are arguably killed off. Hashirama tears as he feels the worst depression he ever gotten. Gokages have no choice but to fight, even in a weakened state, but Sasuke has a better idea.

Sakura sees all this and Naruto still out cold. She proceed to heal him in a incredible speed, but the situation is getting too much worse, so she wants to everyone, but then Kakashi knocks her out because this is the bad time to fight. He figured out why Orochimaru didn't join the battle as well as his team doing the help. In the end, they all did a favor to Sasuke. If only they didn't fight for a whole day, they could have a chance to win, but everyone barely has any chakra left and since Naruto is down, there is no way they could win. Sai comes in and use the bird art jutsu to fly away.

Orochimaru had the Edo Kages to put a huge barrier that they all can't leave. Shikamaru knew something bad would happen, so he planned an emergency escape scroll, but sadly he couldn't get his team, Ino and Chouji, as well others, so he came out alone. Sai did the summon for Shikamaru and Kakashi compliments him. Kakashi said that they all wanted to win and Naruto tried so hard, but in the end, the world has fallen. Sasuke now plans to meet the higher-ups and threat them to hand over the leadership. The rest is up to you.

If I went another route, you bet many would be dead. Hahaha.

Tsunade/Dan has always and will always be canon. The fact that she wanted to return Jiraya's feelings if had come back will never break the bond she had and still have with Dan. Dan and Jiraya are 2 different part of Tsunade"s life. Dan was her official lover until his death, while Jiraya could have been her lover if hadn't died. But he's dead before having a chance to. 

To me, it's clear that, until it's proved to be false, Dan has the same place in her heart, while Jiraya is a big "what could have been". I'm waiting for a thought of Tsunade concerning Jiraya to be sure of what to think about her love life. It's to vague to understand her point of view towards her 2 men. 

But as of now, my thought is that she loved a man who died, still loves him but has fallen in love with another who also died before having a chance to accept his feelings. She still loves the 2 men but in different ways.

Haha... well, you never know... something like that could happen.
You should seriously write some fanfics if you don't already.

Although, since the whole story is basically Naruto chasing after Sasuke and trying to save him, I guess he'll succeed in this one.

Yeah, well, maybe one day. I did write somewhat fanfics a while back with Striker. Really good guy. In all honestly, I do have like a story of my own, but man, that would be the day to ever happen. It's like a hybrid of Naruto and others but turns out to be my own story, rather than "Hey, I heard this from somewhere." It's too bad that I can draw manga. Lol.....hm....

 

A serious question but why doesn't Shounen Jump have some one do a sci-fi hybrid of mythology? I mean it's fresh and something people would be intrigued. Unless I missed it. It works heavily well with AoT, so why not. Not that it's sci-fi, but it's "different". I mean it's ironic that Japan seems so futuristic compare to here yet they got stories that is like back in the past. Wonder why...

It's quite the interesting situation with Tsunade, isn't it?

 

I personally see the relationship between Dan and Tsunade as a result of Jiraiya never being there to properly romance Tsunade. Jiraiya either spent his time making prevy comments to Tsunade that earned him a punch or leaving her behind to travel around the world looking for the child of prophecy.

 

Tsunade probably never noticed Jiraiya was serious about her in the same manner that Sakura never noticed Naruto was serious about her until Sai had to painfully point it out.

 

Tsunade's relationship with Dan became a very important one to her, but I always get the feeling that she would've gotten together with Jiraiya instead had their lives been different. Even at the end, when she was ready to return his affections fate dealt his cruel hand once again in the form of Pain.

Well it's never too late you learn, you know.... you can go to an art class or even self-taught yourself. There's a lot of useful books/tutorials out there, so if you feel like it why not give it a shot?

Well sci-fi (especially mecha) is very popular in Japan.. it's everywhere, and maybe that's the reason why some people prefer stories about ninjas/samurai/yomu and other traditional stuff? Like, they need a breath of fresh air or something?....

Perhaps even have Tsunade mention him to Dan.

 

Tsunade said that upon Jiraiya's return, she would accept him, but he died before that could happen. I agree with you at some point. I agree that Tsuade loves Dan until the end, but the thing is that you seeTsuade's love life like there was one pairing won(Tsunade/dan) while the other lost (Tsunade/Jiraya), to me, and I said it in my previous post, Tsunade loved Dan and still does, they were a couple, so of course, even if she had refound love in Jiraya, she would still love Dan. For example, when a woman lose her husband who died and she found a new lover some time after, she still love her dead husband, but she now loves her new lover in a different kind of love. 

That's why, to me she loved the 2 of them. 

 

But the reason I said I'm waiting for a thought of Tsunade concerning Jiraya is because of what you said, the fact that since Jiraya's death, the realtionship between Jiraya and Tsunade was not brought back.

Maybe if Tsunade have to die at some point in the futur, she wil think about him and Dan, and there we would have the final word about her love story.

I'm starting to hate Kishimoto more and more. He has Jiraiya try and woo Tsunade for most of his Shinobi life then makes her fall in love with Dan and has Jiraiya watch the woman he loves live with another man. Just before Jiraiya leaves for Ame, he gives us the hope for Jirtsu and crushes it ten times over. Now he screws with the pairing again by bringing Dan back and making these comments.

Too much Trauma for me in the pairing department. Why do i always end up liking the pairing in which the characters would be happiest but they have a hard time ending up with one another :-(

It wasn't, at least not for me. But I get why you would see it differently though, given how it was a touching goodbye scene.

 

Take into consideration that from Dan's perspective he just died the other day, so his feelings for Tsunade are just as they were before his passing, therefore his words make complete sense. But unless Tsunade gives a clear answer about what she wants it all remains rather vague. Not to mention she refered to him as an "old friend".

 

I'm not saying that how you see things is wrong, just that it's not something clear cut as to say "Sakura has pink hair".

 

But it doesn't really matter, does it? It's not like Kishi will do a spin off about what happens in the afterlife.

hmmm, you're right. But Kishi has left so many loop holes in the manga. We know nothing abt Tsunade's parents, Minato's parents, Lee and Tenten's parents. If Naruto is related to the Senju, does Sakura have a ace up her sleeve. Too many questions left unanswered by Kishi.
